regarding the concert screen films,i was thinking that they fad out only because that's all that was made from those songs. So when they go into solos the screen just shows pretty colors like it does in the PULSE dvd. Does anyone have any more information on this?

@bobjones900 When the screen film ends, the song ends. There is nothing extra or clever. You just get the screen films with the accompanying bit of song - this is the same of the WYWH box set too. Hope this helps!

I was correct i did some research .. the sacd release is only 192kbs.. with the new blu ray disc its 140kbs per channel.. much higher quality

Was the sacd 5.1 mix in 2003 released in 96khz.. 24 bit? .. cause for some reason i cant see that on dvd.. correct me if im wrong

the 2003 5.1 mix did have visuals during the playback.. I think it was just the stock stuff (like the posters and stickers from the vinyl) and the wide version of the cover, pretty much 1 picture per track...

I honstly can't wait to get this pack tomorrow, so excited

I have a copy of it, and I got it at wal-mart, but I think it was probably produced by a fan, and managed to squeeze it's way into the shelves... it's dark side after all lol I got it in a double pack with that 2003 documentary about the album (I'm in Canada btw, thing's a probably different, I imagine they have a better copy-rights team in the u.k

I think that the "Oh By The Way" box set is best - "Shine On" comes second and the new one is last...

I now know im only going to buy the experience edition for the live 74 cd. its a shame that EMI could not have done a full vinyl version for the fans.

@Flintlinden123 Music reviews don't tend to take expense into account as they get this stuff sent to them for nowt. The material is 5/5 - but I think knocking two marks off is fair.

I'm wondering what secret's will get unveiled when they release The Wall Immersion box set! I hope they learn from the "mistakes" made with this box so they can prepare for us a much better hell of a ride! Can't wait for 2012... let's hope a shower of meteorites don't kills us!

Thank you so much for this review. I really wanted to invest in these Immersion sets. I already have the entire Pink Floyd catalogue and with this review I'm happy with what I have. I agree that there should have been some live performances and some visual candy so to speak with the surround discs. I'll wait till price drops. Maybe around Christmas.

The only selling point to DSOTM is the Blu Ray, a cleaner sounding 1974 concert (they should've put the whole concert out) and hearing what Household Objects was. The screen films should've played through the whole album. If Roger puts his DSOTM DVD out, people are going to edit the screen films between that, Pulse, and this box set.

@Rodeo1202 Now that is a question that divides those in the prog family. Like a weird uncle Peter sitting in the corner of the room spouting gibberish, the question of Pink Floyd being prog is a perennial tough nut to crack. Musically they are not prog, but in terms of style - they are. Prog-flavoured rock, perhaps? Rock with a delicate hint of prog? Who knows? Maybe I should pose that question and ask the family whether or not they agree to disagree. What do you think, Mr Rodeo?

They're certainly prog enough to my ears. But more in the Psychedelic/Space Rock style, as opposed to the Classical/Symphonic style of bands like Yes, Genesis and ELP.

@Rodeo1202 They are definitively prog and definitively not prog. It's hard to say for sure. I prefer to say Prog for convenience, but really they're more like psychedelic space rock with prog elements.

great video. good overview. I just got Atom Heart Mother and Saucerful of Secrets today! Atom Heart Mothers a personal favorite of my, I think the title track is one of their best songs better than Echos in my opinion. I got Saucerful cuz thats one of the few I dont own on cd. Havent heard it in 6 years! WOW that bring back memorys of freshman year in high school. But the remasters sound great! My only problem is the linear notes are missing some artwork from the original CDs and LPs. Still COOL

Nice job, Darren. I do not feel the need to buy it, but I like to know what I'm missing. Here are my takes on the questions you bring up: Marbles? DSOTM is an album about losing your marbles. You're meant to lose them. Scarf? Possibly Gerald insisted. 14+ Warning Label? So they don't get sued when someone chokes on the marbles. It surely has nothing to do with the music.

Maybe you've lost your marbles buying this box, and they want to give them back. I can't blame you. I'll buy the '60's stuff.

Well, I've been thinking for a long time to buy this box or not and thanks to you and your review I can spend my money for something else. I hoped to see something more and well... I can say I'm disappointed. The price is really inflated (does it mean what I wanted to say? damn all the dictionaries) and I hope it's gonna get cheaper just like "Oh by the way" box set did. Then I'm gonna buy with a smile. :)

@WoKoPL You are truly a wise man. The price is inflated for what you get. When the original "Shine On" box set came out in the early 1990s, I bought it for just over £110 which is £20 more than I paid for this set and you get a tonne more stuff with the "Shine On' set.

I have all genesis, and king crimson 5.1 and it´s god for me, i see you have the lamb of genesis, dark side of the moon have the same quality of 5.1 ?

The Dark Side of the Moon 5.1 surround sound mix is very good and so is the 1974 Quadrophonic mix presented here. If you love the KC and Genesis stuff, then you will enjoy this.

I have the DSM cd as well as the Oh by the way box set... So i guess that's sort of a 2007 release?... I would like to hear the live version though... i don' have a top of the line surround system... I have a ps3 that does bluray and dvd...

@juangonzalez76106 Well the final decision lies with you. I think they are streaming the Wembley 1974 live performance on the Pink Floyd YouTube site, so you could always listen to that first.

So... Do you think it's worth it? I mean... It sounds like you were kinda dissapointed when you reviewed the DVDs and bluray... I don't wanna spend 110 Dollars and then be dissapointed... @juangonzalez76106 I think it is a good box set but it is about $40 too expensive. If you don't have the album, get the 2CD set. If you have a top-of-the-range 5.1 surround system and want something to show off to your friends, then get the box set. If you have a DVD player that can play SACDs then get the 2003 release (which you can pick up really cheaply these days).

But my rule of thumb is usually, if you cannot afford it, don't buy it.

This was great! You've definitely gained a fan here :) very well done. The movie you were talking about with the early version of Us and Them was actually "Zabriskie Point". Same time frame though roughly.

So glad to have found your channel, will be going through your prog reviews shortly but first wanted to say that I really enjoyed your unboxing vid of the DSOTM Immersion set, which is how I found you (you were the first, kudos!) and this review was very informative and well presented. I will personally only get the WYWH Immersion box as that album means a whole lot to me, more than Dark Side ever could, so looking forward to your "immersion" in that one, hahah. Love your humour, as well =D
