  • if you want to be common, i can claim that i tamed you.

  • not much to the music, and not too much said, still one of the most powerful songs to me, fucking beautiful

  • @aps7979 theres a lot said here :P full of metaphors.

  • i just layed my head down on the floor listening to this song and cried.

  • This song gives me SERIOUS chills. he is so incredibly talented, it leaves me awestruck everytime I listen to him. This song is crazy beautiful, this WILL be my wedding song someday :)

"and I will swing upon your moods, anytime you want me to do, just tell me what you wanna do, anything you wanna do, lover anything you wanna do"

  • You can take your slide trombone... play it in the catacombs..

  • this song is heartbreaking, it leaves me in a place of reflection like no other.

  • lover, anything you wanna do :)

  • Kiss a frog and then dissect

    So beautiful

  • You can have my bad side too.

  • its meh

  • Man i remember when he played this song last year the sun was setting behind him and everyone was super quiet it was awesome

  • I never realized that sound at 0:28 before. It made me happy.

  • @RedRocketBlaze That's not the real song. I dunno what that was?

  • "they whistle with their hands, but i could be your cat call too"

i don't know why but i can't get enough of that line.

this entire song just reeks of heartbreak.

  • This man never ceases to amaze me. He knows the soul and how to heal it.

  • @MsSaranoH he certainly knows the soul better than well any other lyricist that I've ever came across. but knowing how to heal it....well thats just not true. if it was, he wouldn't be the man that he is.

  • great song

  • meh

  • @yootubematt WHAT? just meh? "they whistle with thier hands..." tears. every time.

  • beautiful

  • my favorite off of outer south. <3

  • this is by far my favorite song on this album. it makes me think of my wife and the time i bought her a pair if completely white shoes for a music festival that had turned into a huge mud pit... just for fun(and so she didn't ruin her shoes)

  • HIT HER AGAIN *<:D

  • Fucking hell this is amazing. Absolutely stunning in every way.

  • reminds me of Poison Oak =)

  • I agree, which is weird because I don't know why, it doesn't sound the same but I have the same feeling while listening. Thanks for this post.

  • saw them 5 times, never saw this song!!!!!

  • there is something so honest about this song... like he didn't even try to write it, like he sang it while he was feeling it out.. When I pick up a guitar, no room mates home, and I just want to say something about what I'm feeling.. you get where I'm going with this. No bullshit, just a raw song.

  • I love this song. Last Nov. I went to see Conor preform in Fort Lauderdale and the show was so-so but this song took my breath away. I liked it better live, but this is probably one of my favorite Conor (not Bright Eyes) songs.

  • le beatiful...

  • I love this CD. I think Oberst is really coming in to his own. Less precious, less pretentious, and that monstrous talent just keeps growing. Lots of touchstones here: Dylan, the Dead, Jeff Tweedy, Neil Young, M. Ward on this track, etc. But an integrated artistic voice is emerging. I'm very much looking forward to what's to come from him over the next fews years.

  • most thoughtful and well written comment i have ever read on youtube. congrats. and Conor is BRILLIANT!!!!! ridiculously talented and intelligent.

  • Thanks Ross. That was kind of you. I hope he sticks with the band concept. He seems to thrive in it. This is as touching as Music From Big Pink. What a talent.

  • I agree, he just keeps getting better and better. But I'm not really fond of this album, there's too much... diversity on it. Like it's a mix of different types of music, I can't really explain it. No unique style. Nevertheless this song blew me away, it's my favorite on the CD but actually the only one (except maybe roosevelt room) that reminds me of the Conor I know and love :D

  • I don't know if he's really coming into his own, now. He has been singing with passion since he was 14, his style has just changed or maybe matured with age. I really don't think there was ever a time where you could call Conor Oberst pretentious, but maybe that's just me. I think he just writes what he's feeling at the time with no thought to how people are going to perceive his music. I think he's been emerged and incredibly gifted for a while now, and I truly can't wait for his years to come.

  • @backpack062 Couldn't have said it better sir.

  • @backpack062 you make me poop my pants, i have troubles controlling my bowels. At 12L14 it's hard to do much of anything drunk. AM PM does it matter? Do you have a map? am i going to have to draw my own.... i'm the map i'm the map i'm the map i'm the map i'm the map hey look i'm the map.... is it over yet? i want to go inside.... and be there for awhile, yeah.... that's what is good

  • this song is so gorgeous i cant stand it.

  • dude wat ever weed u got...i want some...

  • what are you smokin and why arent you sharin

  • so hes stuck out at sea searching for a lighthouse, but when we looks around he realizes that he can't see any =[. THATS A SHIT LOAD OF SEARCHING FOR A GUY WHOS STUCK OUT AT SEA

  • at certain points this reminds me of "It's cool we can still be friends", which is just as beautiful.

  • this song reminds me of when my brother used to eat dog food as a kid when my mom wasn't looking, it's weird but i used to help him an i don't know why, i guess i was too young to know what i was doing but this reminds m of that an it makes me feel sortv melancholy

  • This is a wonderfully arcane comment, and I am glad that you shared it with the world.

  • what a sweet memory =)

  • Amen.

  • Freak.

  • man when he played this song in el paso it was awsome the sun was setting and everyone was standing still good stuff

  • This song is unbelievably beautiful. I could listen to it all day.

  • This is so beautiful. I'm glad Oberst hasn't lost his charm.

  • I'm always left wanting more and more... this man never puts out anything that doesn't leave me in awe... gorgeous song...

  • I heard this song 2 days ago in Toronto, in a Record Store and had no idea about this band before. What an amazing tune...

  • I'm glad he did a completely solo song for the album. But this song seems to feel like the best of the night. When I saw him live I was standing near a bunch of girls and one just started leaning up against my shoulder during this song. It feels like a good song to close your eyes too and let the music take over and do the rest. :]

  • This so is so sweet and beautiful! :) It really reminds me of Bright Eye's previous CD, I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning.

  • Defo the best song on the album. It has the staying power like most Conor Oberst songs

  • the most important man of this generation..Also great band

  • GAH i am so excited for this song.

he played it at his shows this past fall/winter and i couldn't find it anywhere but it was one of my favorites by him and now it's on his album yayyyyy

  • this song is beautiful, completely beautiful

  • I cannot wait too see this man live.

    this song is beautiful.

  • Everyone should have the experience of hearing this song live while being held by a complete stranger.

  • hahaha what a lovely image while listening to this song...

  • I'm speechless.

  • I think he's saying "sugar anything you wanna do"

    he's beyond description.

    absolutely amazing. <3

  • awhh:)

    i saw him livee

    and he played this song

and i thought it was the prettiest thing eveerr:D

    i love himm<33

  • how big are the venues that he is playing at? did it sell out?

  • i saw him at a medium sized venue, there were only about 200 people there. it didn't come close to selling out. shocking, really. i think it depends on what part of the country you are in. i live in the midwest and they all sold out really fast but i saw him in arizona and no one was really there.

  • I love Conor Oberst.

Scares me sometimes... if he dies, I honestly don't know what I'd do. As creepy and obsessive as that sounds...

  • I completely know what you are saying.. it's... odd.

  • beautiful song

  • this song is the most amazing ever.

  • He's gonna have to collaborate with Fleet Foxes after making this song.....

  • I'm happy he thought of recording this one... It's awesome really.

  • IM SHITTIGH MYSELF WITH HAPPY NOW
