love this review ! I just bought this at Target in the sale bin and was kind of curious on how it would be . I loved the mousse line and this definitely gave me some peace of mind .
i tried this and i was super excited, until i actually put it on i have oily/combination skin and it was HORRIBLE! even topping it with a powder it made my face look super greasey, it felt really heavy on my skin, even with a super light layer....major disappointment
Im combination skin too and I just bought this foundation n I like it... It feels good on your skin im also 240 what shade are u on the mac foundation Im NC 40 u looked a lil bit more white then me...
@xlilshayneex It was made for Normal to Dry skin. But it does work for Combonation skin. I've read reviews that say when they use it on their oily skin it looks greasy and others who say it looks fine on oily skin. So if you're willing to spend the money then try it :)
i don't like this foundation, i left like it just sat on top of my skin and it sort of settled to my fine lines. It did look fine from a far but when I looked at the mirror after a hours of applying, it looked grossed. (I have dry skin.)
i literally just applied this prodect like a second ago. i have really dry skin and i've been using the matte mousse for quite a while but i noticed small flakes apearing around my mouth cheecks and forehead. then slowly they had gotten bigger untill my chin and forehead became discolored due to the flakey skin. honestly i've had this stuff on for maybe 3 mins now and i can honestly say im in love..but i did buy it a few shades darker so ontop i just added the old matte mouse for color (:
@lovelizzie11 hello! i have really dry skin as well and im on the hunt for a good drugstore foundation. does it settle into fine lines? how is the staying power? thanks!
@MindlessSwaqq143 Dream Smooth is for dry-normal skin. It's going to give you a more "dewy" finish. Dream Matte is for more oily skin. It will give you a matte finish. Hope that helps.
@MindlessSwaqq143 dream smooth mousse is actually like a cream texture, where as the dream matte mousse is literally like mousse ( like hair mousse ) most people say the matte mousse isnt great for people who have dry skin. the dream mousse would suit dry skin better (my opinion)
u wake up at one thirty in the morning??? child u tripping!!! btw i love ur review.. i think i might check out the Dream Matte Mousse.. thank u :) ps: check out my Youtube Channel. i posted my first vid today. also a review on Maybelline product!!
I have freckles would this cover them? How long does it last, since it's a smaller amount? I have dry skin and I tend to get a really dry crusty look on my dry spots when I use L'Oreal True Match. Would this do the same? My problem with L'Oreal True Match is I like a dewy finish and L'Oreal True Match is more matte. Does this give a dewy finish? Is there a better drugstore product for dry skin.
i bought it... 1 hour ago. put it on. and was amazed. but i dropped mine and now it looks al dumb. :( it's great all year every season. i don't use any setting powder because my skin is so dry and it's getting cold. i got a natural matte finish. :D
Do you believe this product is good for the heat? i want to start using it but im scared with this summer temperature it will fall apart. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Hi, Im looking for a drugstore foundation and powder for oily/combination skin. By mid day my T zone gets shiney and oily. What would you recommend for me? Thanks, Michele xoxo
I have every acne pro skin and this foundation has not broken me out at all. I have used the dream matte mouse and that didnt break me out either. i have oily skin and i only need to use alittle powder over my t-zone with this.
@DejanaJovanovic Try a stippling brush or a flat top kabuki brush. Thats how I use my Dream Smooth Mouse and it gives good coverage without looking cakey. Good Luck!
Ive tried the dream matte mousse, the dream matte powder, & the dream smooth moose, & i absolutly love all of them! I have normal skin but its very sensitive. So at first i was hesitant to try this, but as soon as i put it on, i was in love! I love the airbrushed look it gives me & it makes my skin look even & polished! Im definatly going to be a long time user for the Dream collection.(:
@mg2010rm - I only have the MAC setting spray. I haven't tried the Elf. I just used the MAC for a wet spritz . But really this doesn't need setting spray. I read another blogger just spritzed her Elf brush with water. You may not even think you need water. Try it both ways, but I do think it goes on better slightly damp. I haven't had much luck using brushes for foundation before, but this combo is just amazing. The price for the Elf brush and the price for this makeup make it a super steal!
After buying Chanel Lumiere and Armani Silk Foundations - I still gavitate back to this one. I use the Elf Powder Brush, it's the perfect flat shape and size to pickup the product, and I spritz the brush first with MAC Fix+, wow. I couldn't be happier. The MAC Fix+ helps it go on a bit easier and smell fantastic, as well as helping it to set. Love, Love!!!
I have a question for anyone that can help me...I bought the Dream Matte Foundation and it's too dark. Is there a way to lighten it and get the same look? Or should I just take it back to Ulta and exchange it? (Can I even do that, after i've already used it?)
Ok wow! To anyone with VERY DRY SKIN: I struggle with very dry patches on my nose and eye area, and I have been searching for the right product for yeeeears, let me tell you. This foundation is freaking amazing! My skin is actually hydrated and it just looks flawless. I feel confident using this knowing my skin isn't flaking during the day (I know that sounds terrible, if you have dry skin you understand! lol). Only on day 2 with it now, but I can see this being my everyday foundation :)
@claudiasmodernlife Your comment says its been removed here, but I can still read it in my inbox. Anyhow, I actually like using the elf high def powder very LIGHTLY dusted on my nose and eye area, or another great setting powder is the Palladio Natural Rice Powder from Sally Beauty Supply. These seem to be a perfect match, meaning they don't dry out my skin whatsoever, but it keeps it from getting too oily due to the foundation. Both are around $6 as welll! Hope this helps!! :D
@andlee11 Idk why it was removed but thank you! this actually helps a lot! I've been wanting to try the elf high def. powder anyway! I'll def. try other powders leave me soooo cakey! Thanks again!
Would this be suitable for very dry skin? I have breakouts on my chin, however my nose and eye areas always Very dry. I can't find anything that works for me :(
So smooth and great coverage! I have deep pitted acne scars all over my face and this is the only foundation I've found (after trying nearly 20 kinds) that really gives me the cover I need, gives me the appearance of flawless skin without the laser procedure :) Great for photographs!
Hi! dream matte is the first makeup ive ever bought ...im a newbie...i had no problem applying it but it comes of continuously! how do i keep it from rubbing off?
Hi Emily, seeing your videos for the 1st time and you're very helpful. Maybelline discontinued the mousse concealer, which I loved. I have dark circles and it was the only one that worked for me. Luckily I found it on Amazon.com and ordered a couple. Never tried the foundation, looks great though. Thanks!
I bought this a few months ago and I've been using it every day since. I love it! I am nearly out so I went and picked up the matte mousse and I just tried it today. I really love the smooth mousse so I hope the matte mousse can compare!
I actually just got my friend addicted to this foundation too, haha.
Thanks for the review[: I watched it a while ago but forgot to comment. This review helped me decide on which foundation to get, thank you[:
I have very very VERY dry skin, & this foundation completely hydrated my skin, making it feel soft, silky, & I had that beautiful flawless, dewy finish. Definitely recommend it. It's great if you don't need that much coverage, but also great if you do.
@shakira1052 Dream Liquid Mousse (in Europe Dream Satin Liquid) is a liquid foundation. its like whipped and its vveeeerrryyy creamy :D i have it and its pretty nice: medium coverage, blends very well and looks good, but it doesnt stay very well..
You are the BEST reviewer of drugstore products! Whenever I'm considering purchasing a product, I always check your channel first because I know I can always count on you to be honest and well-spoken. Oh, and your skin looks enviably gorgeous in this video!
i bought this foundation after watching this video. I have to say that I am so glad it did, I don't like to wear a lot of make up because I hate feeling like my face is covered. thank you so much for this review!
i bought this foundation after watching this video. I have to say that I am so glad it did, I don't like to wear a lot of make up because I hate feeling like my face is covered. thank you so much for this review!
I just want to tell you that whenever I search a makeup product review and I see a review of yours, you're the first one I click because I trust your opinion :)
@justyna960718 she said "however, i wouldn't have wanted to wear this without topping it with a powder. Whether you want to use loose powder - i love the Mary Kay loose powder - or like a pressed powder - Clinique has a good matte powder, or there are plenty of other brands that make matte pressed powders. :)
I'm considering buying this but I'm not sure. I don't know if I should buy this or the matte one. I have combination skin and am super pale. What do you recommend?
I bought this two days ago and I already love it! I have dry skin and it's really moisturizing. The only downside is that the lightest shade is a liiiittle too dark for those super pale people like me. I'm a little darker than normal now though, so it's a pretty good match.
I used to use this foundation ALL the time, but i found when I first applied it, it gave me such a flawless finish with a setting powder. But its not very long waring, which I disliked a lot, so I use revlon colorstay now, and I love it! (:
hey emily. have you tried other lighter shades for this product? i have watched several videos on 240 and i was just thinking if its a little darker for you? just curious if you have tried lighter shade in this. <3
I liked this kind at first but after awhile it started making my skin look oily and dirty looking.. and I do not at all have naturally oily skin. Meh thumbs down.
i had a hard time choosing a color. i choose creamy natural and now that I have apply it on my face, it appears lighter than my skin color. v.v choosing a color for your skin is hard especially being a newbie
Great review! I have shied away from liquid type foundations lately and have been using mineral powder, might try this.. I have combo/oily skin with large pores around the nose and cheeks. Offtopic, can you review the new NYC mascaras? I have been seeing some new ones in the display at Target in the last month or so. Thanks and hope you and Tyler are well!
i have combination/oily skin as well & this works great as long as i use some kind of powder on it (which, having my skin, i was always do anyway) i think the coverage is great. i have pretty decent skin when it comes to acne, i dont get much but this has not seemed to broken me out at all. if anything, my skin looks even better than before with or without makeup. id recommended it to anybody with normal to dry skin, & if combination or oily, a powder finish will go a long long way!
would you recommend the dream smooth mousse or the maybelline superstay foundation for someone with combination/oily skin who needs pretty good coverage?
i just got this a few days ago and i really like it ! i didnt like the dream matte mousse because its terribly clingy to dry areas i really dont recommend the mousse for dry skin.. but this works great for my dry skin!
@Angelnot95 It wasn't meant in a mean way, it was just a fact :) There are way to many girls going around with a color that is obviously to dark or with the wrong undertone, and it doesn't look good :p
Does this cause breakouts? I have CG's Aquafresh foundation and it seems pretty similar. It clogs my pores but the coverage is awesome. I have combination skin, sometimes its oily, sometimes its dry in spots.
How does this foundation compare to the Maybelline Mineral Power Foundation? & How do you clean or wash the sponge? Thanks! BTW you are great! only the 2nd day watchin your videos & I love what you do
I agree with her, i recently bought this product and i love it. It IS easy to apply (it just kind of glides on) and its very light, which i love cause my other products wouldn't let my skin breathe. I loveee this. But as she stated, you probably should use it with some type of powder. <3
@xSugarPlumFairy13 If you don't mind, I can help ya with this.. ;-) It depends on your skin type and/or what kind of finish you'd like..if you like a Satin finish, go for the Smooth Mousse, if you like Matte, flat finishes, go for the Matte Mousse. If you have oily/combo skin, you may be able to pull of either or. Dry skin, you definitely want to go with the Smooth Mousse. I think they both apply easily with flat topped brushes or clean fingers...you can apply the Smooth with a sponge..
@subbieforever I have oliy skin and it works fine for me. I really like it especially during the winter. Make sure you top it off with a finishing powder-lightly just like Emily said. HTH :).
can someone please help!..i want concealer from this line but i will order it on ebay..and i don't wanna wear it with any foundation..what color should i get..the same like fundation or lighter or darker?
I've just looked this up and it seems in england we have one called 'dream creamy foundation' by Maybelline. Is this the same product just given a different name? It does look the same.
Has anyone with dry skin tried this?? If so, how did it work? I have really dry skin and most foundation/concealers come out cakey/splotchy because of this.
I bought this today & used a light touch of ponds cold cream as a moisturizer. Don't use too much!
As she said, this will go on extremely smooth & it blends in super easily. It looked good but a wee bit too wet so I topped it off with MAC's studio fix & it looked great! Even with dry skin, still looked nice :D I think it'll work for you, too [:
@WhoDestiny Sounds like you have combination skin. Mine is the same way. I have dry skin under my eyes, around my nose and sometimes random patches. But my nose can get pretty shiny, and sometimes my forehead. It's ironic you mention Ponds Cold Cream because I plan on buying some tonight. Do you like the Pond's? I've heard good things about it.
@jbarum Yes, it works amazing. I used to have acne around my chin & when wearing this under my make-up & rubbing vitamin E gel on it @ night, it took it right away within a week! :o
Yeah, my skin has it's days where it's dry & others it's oily :b But the Ponds is a great moisturizer [: It's not heavy at all & penetrates pretty quickly so it will not leave you shiny. Of course, with only a little bit, it works like a charm.
@WhoDestiny Well, when I went shopping, I smelled this.. And I don't know.. It just smelled odd to me. I have sensitive skin and a lot of products or brands bother me. I think Ponds is one of them. For now, I'm using Olay Daily UV Moisturizer or whatever it's called. I know Olay doesn't bother me. So, I'm going to stick with that for now.
@jbarum I agree, I love the product but the sponge just reeked. I washed my sponge with dawn dish detergent like 10+ times trying to get it out. It smelled like rotton eggs in my opinion and my husband and his friend agreed.
@JoJoMarieMakeup I meant the Ponds smelled weird. Smelled too chemically. My foundation stuff and the sponge didn't really smell. But I haven't used the sponge either.. So who knows.
Just discovered your videos. Great reviews and tutorials! Just thought I'd comment in case there are others in my situation. I couldn't find as good a review of this foundation by someone with darker skin. For reference, I'm in the honey beige shade, which is Dark 1. I first applied with primer, and the foundation looked dry and ashy and basically horrible. I reapplied using moisturizer then Fix+ and it was perfection. I'm a Bare Minerals girl, but I might have just been converted!
I went out to buy this product and after months and months of using it I LOVE IT! Thank you for this review. I top it off with my MAC mineralized powder and they work great together!! Thank you!!
is the dream matte foundation creamy

You are the BEST reviewer of drugstore products! Whenever I'm considering purchasing a product, I always check your channel first because I know I can always count on you to be honest and well-spoken. Oh, and your skin looks enviably gorgeous in this video!

i love this foundation! many cream foundations feels very sticky and heavy, but this is so light! great for dry - normal - combo skin :)

What do you recommend?
horselover4eva1682 9 months ago

Thanks and hope you and Tyler are well!
melrose795 10 months ago
i have combination/oily skin as well & this works great as long as i use some kind of powder on it (which, having my skin, i was always do anyway) i think the coverage is great. i have pretty decent skin when it comes to acne, i dont get much but this has not seemed to broken me out at all. if anything, my skin looks even better than before with or without makeup. id recommended it to anybody with normal to dry skin, & if combination or oily, a powder finish will go a long long way!

Does this cause breakouts? I have CG's Aquafresh foundation and it seems pretty similar. It clogs my pores but the coverage is awesome. I have combination skin, sometimes its oily, sometimes its dry in spots.

I agree with her, i recently bought this product and i love it. It IS easy to apply (it just kind of glides on) and its very light, which i love cause my other products wouldn't let my skin breathe. I loveee this. But as she stated, you probably should use it with some type of powder. <3

Which would you think would be better for a beginner? Dream Matte Mousse, or Dream Smooth Mousse? Please reply! :)
xSugarPlumFairy13 1 year ago
@xSugarPlumFairy13 If you don't mind, I can help ya with this.. ;-) It depends on your skin type and/or what kind of finish you'd like..if you like a Satin finish, go for the Smooth Mousse, if you like Matte, flat finishes, go for the Matte Mousse. If you have oily/combo skin, you may be able to pull of either or. Dry skin, you definitely want to go with the Smooth Mousse. I think they both apply easily with flat topped brushes or clean fingers...you can apply the Smooth with a sponge..

Has anyone with dry skin tried this?? If so, how did it work? I have really dry skin and most foundation/concealers come out cakey/splotchy because of this.
jbarum 1 year ago
@jbarum My skin is really weird.
I have fairly dry skin except around my nose.
WhoDestiny 1 year ago
@WhoDestiny Sounds like you have combination skin. Mine is the same way. I have dry skin under my eyes, around my nose and sometimes random patches. But my nose can get pretty shiny, and sometimes my forehead. It's ironic you mention Ponds Cold Cream because I plan on buying some tonight. Do you like the Pond's? I've heard good things about it.
jbarum 1 year ago
@jbarum Yes, it works amazing. I used to have acne around my chin & when wearing this under my make-up & rubbing vitamin E gel on it @ night, it took it right away within a week! :o
Yeah, my skin has it's days where it's dry & others it's oily :b But the Ponds is a great moisturizer [: It's not heavy at all & penetrates pretty quickly so it will not leave you shiny. Of course, with only a little bit, it works like a charm.
I definately would recommend it. Good luck :D
WhoDestiny 1 year ago
@WhoDestiny Well, when I went shopping, I smelled this.. And I don't know.. It just smelled odd to me. I have sensitive skin and a lot of products or brands bother me. I think Ponds is one of them. For now, I'm using Olay Daily UV Moisturizer or whatever it's called. I know Olay doesn't bother me. So, I'm going to stick with that for now.
jbarum 1 year ago
@jbarum I agree, I love the product but the sponge just reeked. I washed my sponge with dawn dish detergent like 10+ times trying to get it out. It smelled like rotton eggs in my opinion and my husband and his friend agreed.
JoJoMarieMakeup 1 year ago
