Pros:

- ability to pressure casters/healers

- ability to short-range kite MDPS

- can Protect friendlies via Guard and Taunts

- good mobility and positional CC

Cons

- can't heal

- lacks knockbacks

- not as bursty as other pure DPS classes

Greatly enjoyed your video - I too am a Trooper Vanguard, and just hit lvl 16 yesterday. Thanks for the excellent tips and gameplay. Good points about dots and node captures and I hope Bioware changes that mechanic... I'm currently heavy specced into the Assault tree and find it to be a highly viable PvP spec. Lots of ranged kiting, while still being able to dish out damage at close range. Also, easy mode dots to prevent captures at this point. :)

the pvp for swtor isnt anything special it seems pretty boring and repetative i cant believe people were comparing it to pvp in gw2 the uploader did well but personally i dont think il get swtor. it seems like it will become a cheap imitation of wow with a shorter lifespan really.

Pyrofoxius, a GAMEBREAKER team member, favored Assault Spec and he did great with it.

I like the video but you are so focused on your dmg at the end of a match. dmg helps and is good. But in the objective heavy warfronts in swtor there are sometimes other things more important. You point this out with other players doing good stuff but at the end of the match you still only look for your dmg ;)

@zangetsujoo as Glocknall pointed out to me on Twitter, SWTOR Trooper Vanguard / Bounty Hunter Powertech is very similar mechanically to RIFT Riftblade Warrior.

Comparing VG/PT to WAR WL, both classes have a ranged pull and melee capability. But WL has a pet and VG/PT have more functional RDPS.
