@RevenantPriest I saved before entering the house, which meant it took longer to get to each encounter, but at least I wasn't stuck in that place until it shone.

@chibiglu004 It's a choice between efficiency and freedom... for the quickest time between each soft-reset you should save inside the house so you just step outside each time. If you save outside you can still do other things in the game without being stuck on soft-resetting until it shines. Actually, I think a Pokemon with Teleport could help you out there... should get someone to test that.

I'm trying to hunt for a shiny one. How would I do this? Save inside the house, walk out and see the roamer and check the pokedex? If it's not shiny I reset?

@spyrothedragon87 Yes, that would be the most efficient method. It will still be very slow to SR, due to the annoying cutscene after leaving the house.

@SCREAMZ101 Depends - if you mean encountering it after it runs away, it will be the same one each time. If you save before making Thundurus appear (like I did), you can reset until it appears shiny, and then it will always be shiny as long as you catch it and/or save.

@animationhero421 You can't tell until after the scene where it flies around in circles. No Pokemon in B/W have shiny overworld sprites, only in-battle ones.

@quicksilver2055 Honestly, just because I got really lucky you think I cheated? After this shiny, I was inspired to soft-reset for a shiny Volcarona because I thought my game must be lucky. I'm over 10,000 SRs now, so maybe the 'law of averages' is playing out after getting 2 in a row. I don't even know how to use an AR.

Damn i do not have the patience for all of that shiny hunting xD. I have not encountered any shiny's in my black but all the shinys that i have found while playing pokemon are a shiny sunkern in crystal a shiny ponyta in diamond and a shiny pidgey in heartgold.

@xAmenasax Thundurus/Tornadus' data is set as soon as you leave the house and first see it; so it's the same no matter how many times it runs away. You have to save before leaving the house to get different stats/shininess/nature.

Man, when BW RNG Abuse is cracked, you'll be quite ready, 2 shinies and all. The day I get a shiny on my game(a HeartGold shiny wouldn't hurt either) is the day I go past 28 Battle Tower wins. In other words, not likely to happen any time soon. Oh well, such is life...

The nature and IVs won't change each time you encounter it. It only does so if you soft-reset for it. (So I would save before you make it roam) The same thing applies to all roamers. Their nature(s) and IVs won't change unless you purposely SR at the right time to make them do so.

@Smfsableye I didn't take any chances; I saved before being taken into her house. It would be quicker to save in front of the door before leaving the house to meet Thundurus, *but* that could be after its data (including shininess) is generated. Someone should test to confirm.

@DrDimentio: I just got done testing it. It's okay if you save before you head outside to encounter it. It worked fine for me. First SR was Docile (I used your method), second SR (I saved before exiting the house after talking to the woman) and it was Sassy. It's okay to save before exiting.
