im a die hard mets fan and hate the yankees but god i fucking love this series. this show was amazing. olicer platt and john turturro were great in it only thing i didnt like was the guy who played jackson
I hate the Yankees but i loved the bronz is burning and watchin Billy Martin and George go at it was enjoying and im sure there both up there in heaven lookin back at the great moments that they had on earth.
@chrojoisob you are a piece of shit you fuckin punk, cheering on the death of the greatest owner of the greatest franchise ever???????????, crawl back into your gay fathers dirty azzhole from where you came you yankee hating piece of shit,, you yankee haters make me sick, so jealous, so bitter and actin the fool like you idiots always do, Yankee haters are some of the most ignorant , scumbags you will ever meet....you wish your pathetic team had King George as your owner u douchebag
@RedSux6 Not all Yankee haters are like that. Hey, if everyone liked the Yankees what fun would that be? I respect the team and also George Steinbrenner, he was a great man and only now we see all the good things he has done in his life. Rivalries are fun and good for baseball but human life is more important than any game. Baseball would be very boring if not for the Yanks.
this show is the best thing anyone ever put in the history of television. I've seen a lot of movies and shows, but it was the last episode of this show that actually made me shed a tear. 1977 was THE year in NY
I a Red Sox fan so naturally I root against the Yankees but this movie or series is about an era, its bigger than the Sox or Yanks. It was a great time and I remember it well. How I wish I could go back in time.
Greatest T.V. program ive ever watched in my life. This was a master-piece and I bought the DVD set the day it came out. The actors/music/theme of each episode was just un-touchable. If you love the game of baseball whether your an old fart, or young punk, love or hate the Yankees, definitly check this out. Its one of the greatest T.V. episodes ive ever wit-nessed from front to back, and makes me wish I was around for the 1977 season of baseball!
My new book on the great 1978 Yankees team, The Greatest Comeback Ever, is the only book ever written by a fan, live-time on a great sports season. It's available at Amazon.
This is probably the BEST thing new-england bias ESPN has EVER aired on their crummy network (well...crummy since about 2000-2001). This mini-series was awesome! And fittingly, it came on during the summer of 2007 (30th anniversary of NYC's great summer of 1977). I copped the DVD as soon as it came out... Anyway, I HATED Oliver Platt as 'Da Boss', but, I LOVED (PAUSE!) John Turturro as Billy! He did a fantastic job. The dude who played Mr. October was cool. And the Munson portrayal was perfect!
i loved this tv mini series, the 1977 yankees were GREAT THEATER,they won in spite of themselves the yankee players did not like reggie but in WS game # 6 with three home runs HE STUCK IT UP THEIR ASSES !!!
I can appreciate what Billy Martin went through in '77. I had a boss who treated me the same way. I got the last laugh two years ago, and now he has the nerve to have people ask for my help. I work somewhere else and stick it to him every chance I can.
What still surprises me to this day is how Steinbrenner kept re-hiring Martin despite the firings and threats of a firing. It's gotta be one of the weirdedst owner-manager relationships in the history of Baseball, if not all of sports. Of course, Steinbrenner's not the only problem Yankees skippers have to deal with; there's also the New York Media.
steinbrenner wanted to take all the credit for billy's great work, he kept rehiring him because he needed him. in my opinion, billy is the greatest yankee of all time

ESPN needs to make a movie on the 1985 Chicago Bears. They can call it "Shufflin Crew."
