I use to have "friends" throw barbed wire at the powerlines. Its funny shit. The barbs ketch a wire and it kinds falls and touches another and you get a big boom better then this stuff! if you wanna try it I normally use a 3 foot peace.

This happened in my backyard....blew the bucket right off the pole.

It was just rusty, old, and worn-out. Part of my siding on my garage melted, and there was all kinds of electrical pieces and wood all over my lawn. I still have half of one of those ceramic Westinghouse voltage cap thing-a-ma-jigs that I found stuck in my bushes...

What you need is a TV Tuner/Capture card(ranges from $20-80 depending on what you get, comes as an internal card or USB adapter), a VCR, a RCA-3.5mm jack adapter cable(around $5 at Walmart), and some free open source software such as CaptureFlux to get this video onto the computer. Great video! And rare! This is one of the very few where a transformer really DID blow! Almost all other arc-flash videos are just that...short on the powerline, tree limbs down across phases, etc. Seems EVERYONE blames transformer explosions! Not! It is rare for a pole-pig to blow, more rare for a pad-mount to go. The golf-course video in Florida is a good example. Anyhow, this was a great explosion as the first let loose, the 2nd blew a gasket as its mineral oil boiled and went out the side!

lol, i think if i saw that and i knew it supplied power to my place i would just switch off the main braker and i noticed the cable was carried by the pole, i would want to disconnect the cable just incase the cable on the pole ( losing its insolation during fire ) gets struck by a falling live wire.
