This is Grieg's 1871 setting of Bjornson's poem, "The Princess", in which the princess calls down from her private room at sunset telling a herd boy to stop haunting her with the song he's playing on his horn. But when he stops, she asks why and calls to him to beguile her with it again. When he resumes, she begins to cry "What do I want? God help me!" (Performed 1948 by Kirsten Flagstad, 1895 - 1962.)
I think this song is beautiful, sweet and a little funny.
