3. But Kalaignar's ability to tackle party eruptions (within DMK) is praiseworthy. His anti Brahmin stance is a pragmatic political stunt, since he knows that the Tamil Brahmins are over qualified for government jobs these days, but a show of anti Brahminism helps divert popular resentment on several issues which he cannot tackle. He is too old, but unlike ND Tiwari who had to look elsewhere for his satisfactions, he is really 'wedded' to his wives, polygamously, and he is religious about it.

But I would definitely give him credit for his knowledge of the Hindu epics (Ramayana and Mahabharata) and puranas, from which he quotes with a seeming aptness often. He is steeped in Tanjorean art forms, and loves classical music as he is son of a Nadasvara vidwan. Mr EV Ramasami naicker spoiled his youthful period with perverse ideas of the great Indian heritage. Unlike EVR, Karunanidhi is NOT a Naastik.

It is a bland, simple fact -- that, the Kalaignar is good at demogoguy (speech to titillate unthinking masses) and writing for films and dramas, and occasional poettry like when some crowd puller politician dies, etc. He is incapable of coherent social, economic and political conceptual and strategic thinking. In an immature democracy, genuine ideologies are despised and voted out, welcome poetry and demogoguy.

Kanagaraj81, Well! put it this way, I'm pretty sure that Jeyalitha would've done something about Srilankan's Tamil issue as she pledged in past election where she trounced big time! I'm not affiliated with neither DMK nor ADMK! kalanigar was given copious opporutinies to save Srilkan's Tamils from getting killed! it was in his power to implement those actions but he chose not to do it! DMK's supporters may come up many reasons and even try to expiate it! whatever is done, is done! cannot undo!
