@beowulf3075 no, conrail was split up and taken over by Norfolk Southern and CSX in June of 2000. NS got all the Pennsylvania railroad lines and CSX got all the New York Central lines.
As nice as Conrail's Blue Period was, what I'm really jonesing for is coverage of the early 'Rainbow Era' days. Something like a series that covers the predecessors last years, starting in '73-'74 or so, and then moves through CR's formation and touches on the bigger formative events - abandoning the EL West End, pulling up the third main around Horseshoe, etc. It was seeing the activity during those years as a child that cemented my love for trains.
Norfolk Southern and CSX both took possession of Conrail. You can still spot several blue locos floating around on either railroads' lines. Norfolk Southern now runs on Horse Shoe Curve. Hope I've helped :)
Does Conrail exist still?
Pretty countryside. Is it all Pennsylvania?
Good to see so much freight on the rail.

Norfolk Southern is in the Conway yard. Been NS for quite awhile. I know for sure I pick up rail panels there for derailments.

Norfolk Southern runs on Horseshoe Curve, but both Norfolk Southern & CSX received Conrail tracks when they split it up.
