I actually scratch a very little bit the night before, and I put hair grease on my scalp before i go to the dominican salon. My grandmother actually told me to do this when I was kid, and I noticed I have less or no burning if I put it on the night before.
GIRL!!! I hate when people don't believe me when I tell them a perm is NOT a relaxer. SO ANNOYING!! I self-relax as well. I cannot pay $75 for a relaxer.. PLEASE!!!
oooooooh, I remember when I had massive breakage in my hair lol. Ain't shit work lol. But now I'm just rollin with micros and when I take them out then I go through the protien treatment and then relaxer :) I'm so glad you mentioned about the protien treatment because most women do not know what it is.
the reason why they call it a perm is because it is perm-enent. a relaxer is permenent the hair that is processed can never be reverted back to is natural state.
@crit1227 Well i mean, you can say that for anything you can do your hair, whether it is dye, damage, bleached, relaxed, and a curly perm. all of these examples are permanent because the changed hair will never revert back, but yes you can chop it and start from scratch. that is also living proof : ) stay blessed
@Lindamorena The damages of the perm can me permanent. Like now I'm natural and have been hearing things from sistas who are now natural or have been for years but have heard news from dermatologists and stylist the affects of perming can catch up to you. I didn't mean to come off blunt with the Educate and Read. lol sorry
Hey, my hair is relaxed but not bone straight. Usually I flat iron it after a wash- when it's dry of course. Otherwise I have to wear it up, which is a problem because it's a short bob. Anyway, I just washed it this week in preparation for a coming relaxer - I did a protein treatment and all that, is it bad for my hair to flat iron it this close to relaxer time? Should I just deal and wear a hat? Haha (: Thanks.
Please do not be insulted if this isnt the case...but I was curious as to whether or not you have fine hair? My hair is fine, and with a relaxer, it actually looks a lot like yours. It's fine, but I just have a lot of it on my head, so i dont look bald lol. If your hair is fine, do you use anything for volume?
how do you get your hair so straight? you say you relax 2-3 times/year. some months back my hair texture changed, not sure if its because it wasn't properly relaxed, but after that my hair is never straight, it somewhere between natural and straight which is a disaster. any idea how i can fix this?
I love your video...because my scalp with become sore I would get a relaxer ever 6-8 weeks so I started stretching and using JBO and aphogee. I'm not sore and currently on my 11th week now. Is it safe to wait till my 18th week for a relaxer?
You know your hair better than anyone else. If you feel that you can go longer, than do so, but if it is on the edge of being too much of a hassle than thats a sign that it is time to get a relaxer.
thank you! its a pet peeve when people say "Girl I just got my perm!", when they got a relaxer. A perm CURLS & a relaxer STRAIGHTENS. People thinks theres no difference lol.

YOU BLACK GIRLS ARE CRAZY ! You so oppress me and pull me down in society. So many other races are making money from you. Its an un necessary process Spend more money on nutritious FOOD stupid! !!!!!!!!!!!!
ive tried all kinds of relaxers , and i cant get my hair as straight as that :O. Do you use relaxer on your whole hair when you relax it or do you just use relaxer on your after growth? and do you use a hot iron on your hair ?
depends. most of the times I will use it onthe new growth but sometimes I have used it on the entire head. I usually to flat iron my hair but not often.
I would say try not to sweat so much during the week your getting your relaxer. That will reduce the amount of moisture on your scalp causing less irritation
to slow down the relaxer process. if you're a slow self-relax person it give you more time to apply. some people who tex-lax use oils like extra virgin olive oil in there relaxers too. also, if you use a lye relaxer, some people says it completely stops the burning!
Oh wow! I didnt even know that. Thanks for sharing that information! I might have to try that next time. Do you use just regular extra virgin olive oil or do you reccomend a specific type?
yes regular extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). Wen I relax tomorrow, I plan on putting 1-2 (havent decided yet) teaspoons of EVOO to my relaxer. Ill come back to let you know how smoothly everything went! :)
Hey! So I added 2 teaspoons of EVOO to my ORS Olive Oil No-Lye (chickened out on lye) and everything went smoothly. Usually, i would rinse in 18 minutes but with the EVOO mix, this gave me about 10 more minutes. Surprisingly, I still came out tex-laxed! I dont mind at all because the waves are really beautiful and get straight really quickly. Before neutralizing, I applied aphogee 2 min. reconstuctor for 5 mins. Then neutralized and deep conditioned. I had no breakage and little shedding!
when the relaxer is in, you wash your hair with the neutralizing shampoo. Usually after the relaxer, I dont wash that week because I want to give my hair some rest due to the chemical process my hair went through

@eexecutionstylee You want to give your hair as much rest as you can before a relaxer cause the relaxer is hard enough on your hair.
