It's scheduled to be released in the Spring 2011 in Japan, so that means, hopefully, a release in the US by the end of 2011. But it's still in development so no one can be sure.

@MrMydful Vaan has been confirmed, as has Tifa (unfortunately). More characters are on the way, personally I'm hoping for Genesis.

It's also confirmed that there will be twice as many songs and stages as well. No songs have been confirmed but Orphan's Cradle and Sky Fortress Bahamut have been confirmed as stages.

Personally, Basch would have made the most sense. Vaan and Gabranth being rivals is horrendously stupid. Maybe if Vayne is confirmed to be Vaan's "true" rival then the story wont completely fail.

@Shadowstorm8 How would Basch play anything like Gabranth? Gabranth duel wields two swords, uses innocence, guilt, hatred, vortex of judgement, etc. Basch had non of these abilities at all. Nor did he even have the ability to get such abilities.

And Vaan may be the main character in FFXII Revanant Wings, but that doesn't stop the fact that in FFXII, Ashe, Basch and Balthier were all more important than him. Vaan was the perspective character, who knew nothing of Ivalice and we were *continued*

I know cant speak for many other people out there but to me he is a halfway decent char and a fine addition to Dissidia. he an average, believable character who isnt a quiet flashback guy or hardcore, uncaring fighter. as for his clothes, though I dont like them as a whole, I accept it. for one, that small vest/ jacket is Square's personal thing (i.e Sora or Tidus) and two....he lives in the damn desert! you wouldnt wear a big shirt either.

@dlwitness thats where I have to disagree with you man. while it is true some things that Vaan couldnt do before will need to be made possible, calling him a weakling is in no way true. in his world (FF12) he is a very powerful fighter and does possesses magic and abilities that only the strongest enemies of the game could use. he is an elite in his world, and you cant compare it to another such as FF7 where you can jump 300 feet into the air or cut a building in half with a 3 story long sword.

@setsitaru Well that's a good opinion of yours and I respect that, I just think that they should put some cooler characters like Yuna and Rikku or Rinoa or Selphie, I don't like Vaan 'cauze he looks so gay on the wallpapers, even the emo Cloud has more manly than Vaan. We had Zidane as a thief already and plenty other swordmens, why don't they choose a black mage or a female gunner ?

I actually hope they do the same so you can play as Reks as well as Vaan and Shuyin for Tidus

@JudgeMagisterDelita Officially, Vaan is the main character in FFXII, though not in the traditional sense that we are used to. As you said, he's more like the perspective character, with Basch serving as his mentor. Vaan is more of a main character in FFXII Revenant Wings, so he could still qualify as the "true main character" of the FFXII compilation.

Regardless, Vaan is a nice break from the egotistical-focused development of the main protagonists used throughout the FF franchise.

@Shadowstorm8 I've witnessed the Compliation's story in its entirety. It really still does come across as favoritism. This is about Cloud, not Zack. These character choices, with the exception of Vaan, were made in mind because of how closely they resonate with the hero, which is why you don't see Seymour in this game. Cloud has never even met Genesis and all Sephiroth can think about is forcing Cloud to be his BFF for some sick and twisted yaoi fanfiction

@kaihedgie Genesis holds an even closer connection to Sephiroth than Cloud does, and I didn't say anything about Zack.

In the storyline the heroes get summoned to the Dissidia world after the completion of the story in their usual world. For Genesis that's when he frees himself from the underwater chamber at the end of Dirge of Cerberus and talks about formulating a plan.

Personally I'd rather see Genesis' grand plan unfold than have to go through Tifa's best friend crap again.

@Shadowstorm8 The focus of the story is completely subjective. A Cloud fan may say FF7 centered around Cloud, whereas a Sephiroth fan might say it was centered around him. No one is wrong because the story is bigger than just one character and open to interpretation. To argue otherwise is pure character bias. Furthermore, Dissidia is not a canonical story, but pure fanservice, and Tifa is a far more popular character than Genesis by a long shot. I'd argue the point further, but I'm out of room.

It looks like Zidane now has competition for the best air game. I am glad that they included Kain in this game. He is one of my favorite characters in the entire FF franchise.  And it is awesome that his EX Mode is his Holy Dragoon form from FFIV: The After Years. Now all I need is a Vivi and Edgar confirmation and this game is definitely sold for me. ^^

@streifen In Final Fantasy 4 the after years, Kain goes through a "face your dark side" type thing like Cecil and became a paladiny-variant on the dragoon class called Holy Dragoon. I guess they represented it with his EX mode like they represented the Augment system in FF4DS, in name, with Cecil's.
