@ucwhitten this is not my post it was posted by a previous user but it's no longer showing in the top posts so I'm reposting it to the top for people using it to practice.
@nelkfnkjfnwekjf The name of the song is "Watermark". There exist different versions of this song, the one of this video is that of Prandi Sound I suppose... but I'm not sure of this
They are great dancers, but it always irritates me how at this level women lean back so much and change their head directions so many times. In my opinion, it distracts from the graceful lines and smoothness of the movement, as it is too exaggerated and artificial. Other than that, it is beautiful.
i know this is a demonstration video, but my goodness this dance really was breathtaking, just cements the fact that i wanna learn to do this really badly
When dancing was on it's peak (only some years ago) they called such posture "overpoised" and believe me, they wouldn't have earned much placings. Now the disabled have gathered and crowned their own "Kings".
@bibi14930 It's "basic" because they only do syllabus steps. They aren't "showing off" at all, simply dancing most of the syllabus steps as how they SHOULD be. This video is almost like an encyclopedia for what waltz syllabus steps should look like; watch some professional showpieces if you want to see what the open, non-basic steps look like.
Hi, I came across a new Waltzing Classics CD last week and decided to purchase! I just wanted to share with you as its a great listen with the opportunity to explore further dance steps! You can check it out on the classic fm website...enjoy!
wow, i have never seen someone dancing like this before. its so wonderful, i... excuse me.., i'm weeping, when ive seen this perfection and harmony.. just awesome! there is nothing left to say.
Beautiful dancing, but for some reason it bugs me that it's not to the beat of the music and I hardly ever find dance routines that use the whole song and cut it off in the middle...
@jazmineheath they are neither british nor do they require to win a talent show: they are world professional ballroom champions, they have proven their talent and hard work by winning the worlds title several times..but they ended their partnership a year ago, they dance with different partners now..just search for "mirko and edita":)
but you are right, btw, they are absolutely mesmerizing..amazing dancers..
please tell me the name of the mellody. its such a wonderfull Music... Please... or tell me where i will find all , cause it stops... this dance is also so wonderfull, great job, well done
i know it's Enya - Watermark but it's not the same version as Enya, since the song from enya is smooth and this one is a bit faster with a diffrent synch
well..it's quite easy to dance like her...just practice 20 years and if possible at least for 10 years with the same partner, 5 days a week, at least 3-4 hours a day..
if they would still compete when you practiced for that time, you could reach the final where they dance in, in order to get beaten by them:)
@tranquillity91: so your talking about the 10,000 hours rule to be great eh :D. According to your numbers the amount of practicing would be around 15,6000 hours. So if the 10,000 hours is correct, all you need to do is practice for about 14 years to pull it off :P.
@khl31 Thanks for putting this up! I'm getting prepped for a comp in a couple days, and while I was watching this and comparing it to The Ballroom Technique, it seems as if the the Turning Lock they do in the beginning is actually a Turning Lock to R since the book said it can only be done after an overturned spin turn and followed by a Chasse fr PP?
The song is available on a CD "All Star Ballroom Dances vol. 3". The CD is by Prandi Sound Records. I think you may also find it on other ballroom dance CDs.
That's the problem with a whole host of so-called "basic" dance clips on Youtube. I don't even see the need for the term to be used, but it is with irritating regularity, especially by "Dapenda". This particular clip is absolutely enchanting but to give someone contemplating taking up dancing the impression that this kind of standard is "basic" is just plain ridiculous.
I think in this case "basic" means syllabus steps from bronze to gold. It's just that their technique is much higher than the average dancer. I find it inspiring to see the same steps I do done at such a high level.
Thanks for this. I'm sure that experienced dancers would have understood the context in which the term "basic" was intended. However,Youtube attracts a very wide audience, amongst which is bound to be a large body of people who would love to take up dancing but who might be daunted by imagining that what they are watching is as elementary as it gets. Tiger Woods's golf swing is probably "basic", but does that mean a beginner will also be able to drive a ball 340yards with pinpoint accuracy?
As a syllabus level competitive dancer it is wonderful to see the top couple in the world doing the same steps I do at such a high level. It is very inspiring.

But well, can you expect less from the absolute greatest ballroom couple in the world!

And we are talking Professional championships with the absolute highest standards in the world!
