  • i cant drive i leave that to you girls , what u think

  • thank you for sharing this no one really talks to me about this and i just graduated high school and will be starting college in January so again thank you

  • A blonde, blue eyed woman would have got 4% interest rate! Gotta have the right SSN, etc. ~ sorry that happened baby girl!

  • Thank you so much!!!!!

    This Video is inspirational.

I wish I saw this at 16 lol.

  • Very inspirational. thanks for making these videos, I'll be 23 next month and i started working at 16 also. i can really relate to some of this

  • Hi Kim! I really wanted to rate this video because in my quest on youtube for natural hair education, I have found some info and research that is just point blank transformational. The spoken is very POWERFUL. Thanks, you brought it on this vid!!!!!

  • kimmay I am taking notes dear I am 22 and I am listening to you great financial advice!!

  • lol @ the "we're very comfortable" part... modesty is hard to find. great video kimmaytube, i'm 18 and this definitely inspired me to start thinking more about my future finances and managing money as a whole. thanks again.

  • 13%????

that's crazy. They probably did that crap on purpose =P

  • I subscribed!

  • Kimmay on borrowing with bad credit: "Everything cost more."

Nothing costs you more if you don't finance it. The trap is in thinking that there is such a thing as "responsible" credit use. Other than when buying a home or capitalizing a business, if you can't pay cash you can't afford it!

  • @rcdrury1

My husband & I earn about $2500 yearly in cashback rewards from our credit cards, just by using them. Since we pay our credit cards off completely every month before the bill is due, we pay 0% in finance charges. Zero. So I know what I'm talking about.

If you know how to use credit cards responsibly, you can earn rewards.

BTW, the home you live in is not an investment. Buying a home does not always make financial sense.

  • @kimmaytube Good for you! By "financing" I was referring to paying interest on borrowed money. Leveraging your cards the way you successfully do makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, as I'm sure you're aware, most don't do it right. Credit cards are, by far, the worst, most abusive, forms of legal credit available (except for perhaps payday loans), and those features you successfully take advantage of are ploys to encourage those less disciplined to bury themselves deeper in debt.

  • @rcdrury1

Good. Now you see that you were incorrect in your assumption about what I meant when I spoke about "how to use credit cards correctly".

My focus isn't & won't be how people use credit cards "incorrectly" (cause I've already covered that, beat a dead horse)

Now my focus is on how people (namely the upper middle income folks like us) use cards to our advantage.

If you do not like credit cards that's fine & understandable, but this series is about my experience with them.

  • @kimmaytube I can relate to following your dreams and realizing that you want to pursue more in life... I'm at the point where I want to finish my degree pursue dance and get more in depth with the arts and expanding my career as an esthetician so I'm at a crossroads and reflecting on my dreams aspirations and obligations your words and wisdom help to refresh my motivation and focus :)

    Most Truly

    Beautiful Truth

  • wow that house is huge.houses like that are almost a million here.

  • I'll be 23 next month LOL! Thanks for this.

  • I have watch this video along with the others over and over again. This sounds like me. 23 year back in school,in debt, got robbed by a salesman on my first car purchase and everything. But like you did I have a dream and I speak life on it everyday. At least I was able to suck it up and move back home to get my credit back on track. But you Kim did it all on your own. I admire you.The advice given gives me hope that if I work hard and keep focus on my dream I can make it big too.Thank you

  • I THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS. I AM 26 JUST LOST MY JOB ABOUT TO START ALLOVER AGAIN... THANK YOU!

  • I LUV the fact u decided to take on this topic.... !!!! I am a 25yr old college grad, I have the money issues (debt), had the school issue (went sometimes, dropped out and worked full time and realized that was a bad decision, went back and finished) and I reached that point of I Don't Care! I have a dream of where i want to be and I have decided to approach it with a different plan.

  • What they tell you on tv about the economy is all lies. Look up the term hyperinflation and that will tell you what will happen everytime we do bailouts and stimulus programs. These programs will cause hyperinflation and the collapse of are currency. You can see it happinging now with the price of gold at $1200oz. Dollar is going bye bye!

  • Well the unemployment for an 18yrold to 30 is 20%. It's hard out there and people are getting frustrated. Get out of dept and don't worrie about material things. Stock up on food, water, gold and silver. Don't buy crap you don't need. We are going to see a global economic disaster real soon so prepare.

  • I am 21 and moved out when I was 18..so I am going through some of the stuff you went through...but I am in recovery

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to share your financial story. I am 22, in graduate school, with NO educational debt, and very little credit card debt, and though I haven't had to go through the financial struggles you have, it's refreshing to hear reminders that relying on credit cards and living beyond my means is a BAD idea. I have learned from the experience of working to pay down my (small) credit card debt that material things come and go, so having financial wisdom is paramount!

  • I am 23 and married. This is very informative!

  • ok lady....this is me alll the way besides the repesesing.....im 23 now and i had all the money the life style, the fresh house, the sexest car(mine was a hyundi coupe... red too) and all and now im finding my self with nothing living out a suitcase(literally) ....

ive been in to everything else with out a plan anit last year i decieded to go back to school and do what i had to do .....im on way and uve instired me to continue on because now i can see where i can end up...

    thanks alot :)

  • Oh really? Hello Neighbor I was born in Michael Reese in that same fall.

  • you're such a role model for young 20 something girls like me!! thank you for your videos!!

  • Seriously will give you 26!!!!

    You look great and beautiful.

  • I'm 23 and you're scaring me. Just got a job. I am paying my Nordstrom and Macys cards off ASAP! LOL!

  • Girl you are a genius! Your videos are so cool! Thanks for giving the younger generation advice on financial matters! My motto has always been "each one teach one!"

    Great job!

  • each one teach wasnt that in that book Push

  • Thank you so much for sharing your story. Its an inspiration to hear how you've got so far with hard work - despite the difficulties you had! Keep up the great work, and I'll be here rooting for you.

  • OMG this sounds like me

  • Thanks for sharing your story! I am gonna put this vid on my front page featured vid! I made mistakes with money, far to many to count..lol. It took a year for me to get a handle on it. Free Credit comes with a Price. One I did not want to pay at the time..lol

  • That's one thing my mom always preached to me about... staying on top of my credit/ credit score!

I'm sure you know but I'm one of your "young" followers too. 23 to be exact! :0) Thanks for this!

  • How'd you do it? Did you move back home? Another car? Transitioning out of moms house, and contemplating the same things

  • ohhhhh i cant WAIT for part 3

  • dang they took it at midnight?

  • yup. They took it after midnight on Y2k. LOL.

    "cold.......blooded" Rick James.

  • If anyone is looking for any financial classes and advice, check out Dave Ramsey. I attended his seminar and it was amazing. He teaches you so many things from bargaining with cash to mutual funds. He breaks down alot of misconceptions and you really learn to see money for what it is.

  • Thanks for sharing. Watching this video made me feel like you were reading my life story!!! If I were more educated about my money & finances I would be in a better situation. Hopefully more people will start talking with their children @ early age about this.

Thanks again & keep up the good work.

  • I just graduated college and I truly needed this posting. The only debt I'm in is in college loans, I was just thinking of how to prepare my new financial status as a teacher. I can't wait to hear from you. Thank you, God bless you!

  • wow, this is amazing kimmay!

i can't tell you how much i'm so thankful that you're doing this, i really can't.

but it means a lot to me.

  • Wow. You just reenacted my life! I am 34 and I can't wait for part three, to see how to get out of my financial ruins! Great videos ;-)!

  • Love this Advice trilogy you're doing....um, but when is the part 3 coming. I've been waiting patiently kimmay!

  • Hi jazzy32208!

I'm currently working on them. I put the annotation at the end of the video. I love my subbies, I love the excitement that people are feeling and the support. But I never want Youtube to feel like "work". I think if it ever becomes like "work", I'll have to stop. So again, please have patience with me. Thanks!

  • I'm a HUGE fan of your videos..and I definitely know they are work just by looking at the quality and time you put into it. It's honestly refreshing to see ur vids!

And your right, it should never feel like work! I'm patiently waiting though...I loves financial advice Take Care ;O) and thanks for replying, that doesn't happen often on the TUBE

  • I like this! Very informative because I'm 22. My mom tells me to learn from her experiences, but its cool to hear from other peoples experiences.

  • Love this story and this is similar to what i'm going through right now (i'm 24). However there is no advice for "23 yr old you." this is just the story of "23 yr old you."

  • yeah, the first 2 parts are obviously "the story of 23 year old me". You can't give "advice" without a background story, right?

  • Wow~!

This is real. I'm going to show my 18 year old daughter this video. Thank you.

  • I'm 18 and am soo glad I saw this.

  • Great video! I think the young and more mature can benefit from this video and your experience. So many of us live beyond our means and once things start getting out of control, we often lose control of our financial freedom.

  • These vids are great Kimmay. look forward to seeing the others!!

    & Happy Belated Bday!!

  • This is what my dad is trying to save my bro from. He was so into getting a brand new car until he got lectured about the cons. His gf is paying over $700/month for '08 Honda. & she is nowhere near paying it off & she has 6 credit cards. shes only 24!!

I still use my parents car, so I'm in no rush. My first car will be pre-owned & not over 7k lol. I'm in college now & lots of places have offered me loans, but I refuse em cause I dont want to be paying off anything when I start my career.

  • Just what i needed to hear. Great vid.

  • I LOVE that you are talking and so open and honest!

I am exactly your age and I must say that I made the exact same mistakes as you. I was in my 30's when I realized the importance of good credit and saving. My parents never taught me about these things as they were in the same boat. Now, I'm getting things straightened out. A friend recently mentioned how his lowest score is 784 and a part of me was envious. I have no one to blame except for myself but I am thankful to be getting help.

  • Great video really helps!

  • Great vid

  • i really enjoy your videos. im 23 with kids and hubby so my finiacial situation is crazy when it comes to car payments to child care..now i gotta think about school payments for myself to further my career (im a nurse) . keep up the good work :)

  • Im 23-soon to be 24, and the economy has been killing my long-term savings and career goals. (I was recently with a company that went under)

My parents are expecting me to pay the CC bill that they said they would handle because it took SO LONG for me to find a job. But I didnt even tell them I got laid off yet, and the next job Im looking at pays like nothing. My 23 year old self feels lost

  • I am 23 and I am in a financial rut :( I am soon going to be going to a financial planner to help me get my finances on track because I soon need to start paying back my student loans.

  • Im 23 and do not let bills linger. I strike them with precision! lol.

  • Yet again, Another superb video! lol but In my language "comfortable" means ya got money to blow lol

  • damn i call that not hurtin

  • Kimmay, I wish someone would've taught me the know-how to handling money when I got my first job at 17. Part of my downfall is student loans!!! I try to encourage my friends' kids that are college bound, to avoid SLs as much as possible.

  • questions: how do you avoid college loans? ......middle class usually means too rich to get grants but too poor to actually be able to pay it = loans = my life right now. lol.

    advice?

  • Spicyeve, I agree 100%, and most of the students that are reaping the benefits of financial aid are complaining about the fact that they cannot pay rent but splurged a year ago 8,000 that the government gave them to use wisely. Sometimes I just do not get it!

  • Wow! I love that dress its is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo HoTT! I want one :-)

  • Thank you so much for this video! I'm 23 and I'm in a bit of a financial rut myself. I'm going to use your advice to help plan a better future for myself. Thanks again and keep them coming!

  • I appreciate your videos so much. Thank you for your hard work and your honesty.

  • Kim, great job on what you are doing. you are absolutely right about the bad credit following you when you are in a different place in life. Kudos to you for educating the masses on you-tube. We will all think twice about our spending habits. Talk to the product junkie in all of us :)

  • Thanks so much!

  • love the video! Happy belated birthday :-)

  • luv, luv, luv , the little black party dress and kimmay got leggs.

  • I love this video/message/testimony. I pray it reaches all who need to gain a true understanding of responsibility. I had to learn the hard way as well but thank God I learned. If you are a person who do not understand credit educate yourself.

Again great vid. thanks for sharing.

  • Very well told, I am 24 & my mother has been educating me on finances from a very young age. Thanks for sharing!

  • this is great advice im 20 and i refuse to get a credit card

i look for other ways like with my debit card to gain a good credit history and after a 300 dollar slip up on my debit im staying as far away from credit anything until my salary/career gose up.

  • I really enjoyed this mini-financial series of your personal story. It helps me to understand that what happens with credit is redeemable. I just graduated this past May from University, and I just landed my first full-time job yesterday. So for all those young graduates posting, it is possible. I thank you so much and your an inspiration to me to continue forward.

  • Im 23, my loans are student loans and my car loan. Im out of work right now, my parents help me, I came back home and stayed with them when I graduated college last year. The money they give me goes to bills and gas while I job hunt everyday. Yup, its your needs before your wants 99% of the time. I can't wait to get hired so I can get back to paying my own bills with my own money, I miss the independence! I'll get there though.

  • hahaah i love this. I was married in my twenties and now might be divorcing in my thirties.

  • cool!

  • Happy Birthday Lady...and thanks for sharing and being so transparent. :)

    Blessings! xoxo

  • This is excellent! Please go to a college campus and make those young people watch these videos!

  • This is where I am at right now and I just turned 24. Bad credit.

  • great advice & inspiring story.

  • I love this video. I'm 28 and screwed my credit a few years ago. I"m doing the 7 year countdown. :(

But in the end, it's all about getting back on your feet.

Thanks for this. Your hitting the nail with the hammer perfectly.

  • It make's me feel so good that I'm not the only one. I grew up without knowing how important having good credit is, and now that i'm 27 and married, my husband and I are working extremely hard to raise both of our scores. But the difference is we have children which make it harder. But i know we'll get there if we stay focused on the task at hand. Thank you so much for sharing this video, and i'm looking forward to the next one.

  • looking forward to the next vid

  • Its cool that ur making these videos. it makes me see how blessed i am to have a mom that taught me how to handle with money and all about loans, credit cards and such. im 19 and was thinking about moving out but i dont know maybe its not a good idea, it helps to not have to pay for rent especially when i live in the most expensive city in america.

  • I was born at Cook County too, in 86!

  • im 21 and I just had my car repoed!!! YEA THAT REALLY SUCKED...i owe like a million dollars on it!..lol (more like 10 thousand) but this video is very inspiring! Im currenty trying to get everything back on track and build my credit back up. Im looking forward on hearing how you came up! Thats always the best part!

  • oooh my first car was a used '95 Geo Metro (4 door) that I bought in '97. They killed me on the interest rate (20+%). I was so focused on what I wanted my payments to be that I totally missed the point on the interest rate!! I was young and naive. The full gravity of the situation didn't hit me until I was ready to get rid of it!

  • I'm checking youtube every second for part 3... You are killing me with the wait..

  • Great video!!

  • this is so inspiring i must say, helps me realize the importance of credit and financial stability. I am 23 right now making about 40grand a year but I dont see none of it during the year, i'm always paying late bills and credit score is shot bc i co-signed a car for a family member that was irresponsible so now im playing catch up.. cant wait to watch part 3!!!

  • I have a 23 year old daughter that I would like to share your tube with. I have been preaching this (beware of debt) to her every since she has been in college. She just graduated college. I am thinking that maybe if she hears this from someone else who has actually experienced it maybe she would take notice to what I have been trying to tell her

  • This video is great. Are you or have you ever thought about motivational speaking?

  • aahh...the mistakes we make when we are young. thank you for sharing your story. i agree, the high interest rates on cars should be illegal....don't forget that as soon as you drive that car off the lot, the value dramatically depreciates. there's nothing worse than owning 15K on a car worth 8K. But as the saying goes...we live and learn. great video series.

  • Thankyou so much for posting this video, it really helps alot.

  • girl i am 25 and i fell like i did the same in different way ...

  • Happy belated birthday!

It's so interesting how your story could be for almost anybody! I can't think of anyone who hasn't experienced what you have, but the saddest part is, some of them are still experiencing it. They've given up on trying to dig themselves out of that hole.

I'm definitely referring them to this series! You so totally ROCK!!!

    Fantastic series.

  • thank you soo much for this video!!!

  • Great video!! I am where you were at 23. Avoiding creditors and piling debt, with nothing to show for it. It's so frustrating because you dig yourself into a hole and it's so hard to get out of it. I am literally too scared to check my credit score :(

  • i am loving this...this is so helpful...i am pretty much going thru everything ur saying...i am at the stage where i am 24, trying to finish school, and trying to figure out how i can repair my credit all at the same time...thank u for this series!

  • Another great video. I'm 27 and I wish someone had this discussion with me seven years ago. I made my mistakes along the way and I am correcting them but I plan to share my mistakes with the younger people and hope they make better choices. Can't wait for part 3!

  • Excellent education which should be required viewing!

  • wow...the lessons we learn trying to be "grown"...takes me back to my own situations. Glad to hear that you changed focus and direction early on and now you have a success story to share...can't wait for part 3.

  • Wow your story almost mirrors mine exactly! From starting school later to my car being repossessed.... SN: Those repo men are no joke! At least you were able to get your stuff out. They just took off into the middle of the night with my car,a full tank of gas, and some belongings. Man was I pissed!! But as you said, in retrospect it's actually really funny! I'm here cracking up laughing with tears in my eyes just thinking about it!

    Thanks again for this!

  • BTW, happy belated birthday!!!!

    Xoxoxo

  • Thanks for sharing. Again great idea, all of us in our 30's should share our stories ;) I know this would have helped me 15 years ago.

  • Thank You.

  • Great advice!

  • This serious is pure genius! Love you and include you and your family in my prayers. Your definitely a friend in my head...lol pat yourself on the back for me. great job

  • I can't wait to see part three! Great tips!

  • I will be 28 this month and I am still trying to get my credit under control

  • Great Video! I did want to piggy back on one point you made about the 7 yrs of debt. That 7 yrs can multply if some one buys your debt, so it may not dissappear if you think that in 7 yrs it will be gone. I started off preety well and then fell off once I got out of college. But I'm working on it again! Thanks for the great videos.

  • Love your honesty, This series is so helpful

  • I am 22 and 10mnths(lol) and I guess every young girl hits a bump in the rode because you sound like me, halfway through my nursing degree and it always feels like you are the only person over 21 who doesn't have all the things that the world tells us we should have gotten by the time we recieved our HS diploma & that's the trap. I appreciate you, ur like the big sis I neva had :)

  • did you have a roommate the entire time you were in college?

  • Very good!! Waiting for part 3!! THANKS for making this video series, u really don't know how helpful this is. u r a blessing 4 real!! Thanks!!!

  • you're talking about the creditors calling you and you not picking up your phone and I'm looking at my sister and she is cracking up b/c that is HER. lol! thanks for the vid though, I came home tonight completely drenched in dispair and this is what I needed to hear.

  • You are are blessing to many people... Keep it up :)

  • again, great video with part 2! 5 stars!

  • I made pretty much the same EXACT mistakes that you made and it's taking me longer to fix it.

  • I love this series and cannot with for the third part. It's good to sometimes hear how someone work their way out of a difficult situation because it's very encouraging. Thank you for sharing!

  • First off I think you have a beautiful spirit and the ability to touch and change many lives. Second, jacket LOVE IT dress in fashion show LOVE IT. Thanks so much for this video and for being so candid, I can't wait for the next installment.

  • Awesome! I would also tell young viewers to check their credit reports to make sure that their parents haven't opened any credit cards or bills in their names. Trying to repair your credit and your relationship with your parents after screwing you like that isn't easy. I didn't even get a chance to mess up my credit myself. Luckily, I've been able to repair both and am a home owner. I've forgiven my parents and our relationship is great now. Talk about the ultimate lesson in forgiveness, LOL

  • i will def be posting this to my facebook and thank you for the advice...im not too far in debt so i still have a chance lol

  • Another winner my Sister. Believe me, at 39 I'm still learning financial lessons. I love the videos! You're an inspiration, girl!

  • Great info!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing this! Off topic- I just returned home from a cruise and saw a guy that I swear is/ or could be your brother. Do you have a twin?

  • I wish I had seen this at 18 before I went to college! Boy I messed up. And I come from a family that knows about money but it is so true what you said... we don't discuss it with OUR kids!

  • Kudos to you for this series.....I think young people need to hear this info now more than ever..

  • Good looking out! I need this advice!

  • Thanks for sharing!!!!! I'm looking forward to Part 3.

  • Great video!!! My niece is 21 with some of these same issues while working 2 jobs & in college.

  • Great video!

  • I forgot: HAPPY LATE B-DAY!!!!!

  • Great Video!!!

  • This video couldn't have come at a better time. I feel like that's me. 22 not finished school $10hr. and a TON of student loan debt...and I'm in the process of trying to figure it all out.

  • Thank you for this..I'm sure my post will fall into the pile that you get, but this is truly inspirational. I too went through similar situations as you did and even filed bankruptcy at 19. I have since recovered and my husband and I make it a point to educate our 3 and 6 year old of the importance of money because we don't want them to make the same mistakes as we did. We are comfortable now but getting there was a struggle. Thank you sista, I had to share this on my facebook page!

  • Hi Jadison03!

I read EVERYthing! I know it's hard for ya'll to believe. But I do. Folks know, sometimes when I'm not too busy, I'll jump on and answer every single comment. Hopefully I'll be able to do it this evening & tomorrow. Thank you for sharing the vid! :0)

  • What does cum laude mean?

Thanks for posting this. It's a good tip.

  • To ttbryan07:

You are welcome, lady. Here is the definition- never be afraid to ask, this is how you learn. :-)

cum laude, "with honor" (direct translation: "with praise")

magna cum laude, "with great honor" (direct translation: "with great praise")

summa cum laude, "with highest honor" (direct translation: "with highest praise")

  • @ttbryan07

Its apart of the latin honors system the school goes by when u graduate college...is

    cum laude 3.0-3.4

    Magna cum laude3.5-3.7

Summa cun laude 3.7-4.0 I think the #'s are right but u get the point :) hope that helps

  • To lovesme365!

I beat you to it. ;-). Thank you for answering the question. Dang, maybe my GPA was lower than I recalled. But I attended a private art college, they may have made up their own rules. I hope so. lol.

  • lol @ the latin honors. they do tend to vary a little depending on the school. Im a senior and its been this way for only a couple of years :D

(somebody should do a vid on how to maket non-STEM degrees SciTechEngineerMath)

  • where is part 3??? cant wait!!!! and thx for sharing ur story!!!! God bless

  • Thank you for this. I am 27 and i know the importance of credit but you have so much insight on so many things that help me in my life. You are not just a hair vlog. Thanks again for sharing your experiences.

  • I cant wait for part 3! I am 24 and need the advice :) Thank you

  • Excellent video!!!

  • thank you so much for this story. We are the same age and now that I have a child I am totally in a different space about my finances. I used to shy away from any mention of money because my parents did the same and they argued heavily. If you ignore money issues they dont go away! I have new goals now and I am soo motivated to make my dreams come true! this is a great testimony

  • what happen to the home tour in this video?

  • aneshaf, :0)

it's in the description box. I simply didn't have the time to fit one this video. But part 3 (maybe a part 4) will. Thx.

  • Your transparency is remarkable and I pray your listeners choose to learn from your experience rather than having to learn by their own trial and errror. You get five stars from me!

  • aww, thanks, redeemed2bfree!

I hope they learn from my mistakes. LOL!

  • Great series and much needed in our community. Can't wait for part 3!!!

  • Thanks for sharing this you are a inspiration.

  • wOOW!Thank you sooo much for doing this video!

I really appreciate it! No one talks about it so this is great!

  • you are giving me so much hope!

  • Good advice!

  • This is a great vid! I have a high credit score and am proud of it! My parents schooled me on my finances. There definitely was more that they could have told me, but they laid a great foundation down for m. More people need to know these things....and need to know about investing your money in things that are long lasting and worth while.

  • GREAT VIDEO!!! I am 24 and I am in debt up to my eye balls. I had to learn about credit and credit cards the hard way. COLLEGE STUDENTS!!!! Lean about credit before you start signing up for every card that companies offer you on campus. Your credit is your name and your word! Don't tarnish it for lack of knowledge, I did and I am still trying to make my name good 6 years later. Don't take this issue lightly. How do you want the world to see you? Thanks Kimmaye for stepping up to educate!!!

  • I tagged You.

  • This came right on time! I'm a college student (23 yrs old) and I have terrible credit because of credit cards and junk! It's good to know that someone is out there that has "been there, done that" and has turned it around! That gives me hope! Thanks girl!

  • OMG!! You look great for 33!!! I need to get like you. You have great definition too. Got to get back into the gym. I got up topped on the interest rate. Where I live there is no limit to interest rates they can charge you. My first car interest rate was 29% because I had no credit.
