@stewew : Whew, long time, no log in, LOL!! Well, back in the "good ol' days", the payphone only cost a dime to use, hence the reference to "miles of wire" (phone poles and cables) and "dimes of time" (so few minutes of talk time per ten cents). A truly epic classic.

@apoetalone : Yes, um... thank you. That was sorta my point. Ha ha! I guess sometimes my sarcasm doesn't translate too well in the printed word. Not only does a dime get you nowhere at a pay phone, the dang phones themselves are a thing of the past... at least out here in So Cal.
