so one person out of 41 dislikes this--only an idiot would dislike thts. Much better than Whitney houston's version (and I like Ms. houston--but no one can do this song like Dolly
@mikehlebik I agree with you 100%. YOu are so right, no one can ever sing like dolly. I loved her movie in the best little whorehouse in texas. I can't get over how she still looks good for her age.
Dolly U rock & the Song I Will Always Love Youhe best is the Best song u wrote in 1974 & Jon McGovern of Bangor Maine want's to meet u in Person & I want to sing I Will Always Love You with u ok ur the Best
This just sounds wierd... cus this is orriginally Dolly's song but since whitney did her cover she made it her own so no one thinks of it as dollys just whitneyss!!
Dolly Parton sings this with the raw emotion that comes when two people know that is is the end. You can hear in her voice the hurt she is feeling,( it ranks up there with Johnny Mercer's "One for my baby" as sang by the only man who did it justice, Frank Sinatra). Having been in exactly the same position myself I know, only too well, just how much it hurts. Whitney Houston tramples all over it with the subtly of a rampaging rhino. With her screeching rendition she totally misses the point.
@rkremer yes, and there are so much stupid music these days that is terrible now, like rap music I can't stand. And all that boom boom in there cars, thats not music. You can't even hear the words just the base. really wish they would ban all that kinda music. Dolly is a great singer and she still looks great for hear age. I love her music.
This show aired in the fall of 1974 since Dolly mentions that the song had been a hit a few months back. It went to #1 on the country charts on June 8, 1974.
Yes, must have been fall '74. I'm pretty sure this was after Dolly had already left the PW Show as a regular (I think she left around May of '74), and was here as the guest star, since she is not playing with the Wagonmasters, but instead her own "Travelin' Family Band". She made a couple of guest appearances on the show after she left, as she and Porter remained on good terms for a while. They had a falling out around 1976-77, and that's when he accused her of breach of contract and sued her.
a good song n singer. For a woman that 3 days lunch-dinner........you make me 'puciiiiing...!!'
