  • ebay has chargers for less than $5.Lithium battery will get damaged by feeding 5v to a 3.7v battery. This will work, but drastically reduce the life and should only be used in emergencies.

  • i did this and my phone just kept on vibrating haha

  • Hopefully there isn't too much current going through the usb otherwise your battery life can be shortened. Also be careful not to overcharge your battery it can die or even explode, lithium batteries are very dangerous houses have burned down from lithium battery fires.

  • song pls

  • i did this.but instead of connecting it to my computer (afraid it would crash) i connected the usb cord to my usb wall charger. however, it is now making a low pitch noise...is that normal?

  • Hey, I love The Script.

  • LOL I tried this and my laptop USB started to smoke LOLOL, but good vid

  • dont do this because when you do.this about 3-4 times it fucks up yer phone and battery like i download a song today it will delete if my phone turns off or dies

  • am having problems it not charging ? :'(

  • i left my charge in my friends car and i didnt want to go buy a charger cuz ill be gettin mine back in a few days so i tried this and it worked...Thank You.

  • For people saying buy a charger. Sometimes is not that simple. Traveling to a new state for business forgot my phone charger went to different stores to buy a charger and none fits my phone so i would happily buy charger in this case but sometimes is not about being cheap is about what works at the moment. BTW thanks for the video you saved my ass big time

  • Would this work using an iPod USB on a blackberry?

  • did the job. thanks

  • hahaha, do not try to remove you're iPhones battery ;D

  • thank you very much my samsung galaxy was like messed up and now I fixed it with this tect niek thxs

  • lol music in the back round

  • How long should I charge it for?

  • it works i was at 7% battery now it went up to 81% in like 30 sec.

  • i just try this and it works!!!!! thanks :)

  • i do this when i have no charger avail. and been doin it for 10 years , but remember people its not good for ur battery

  • Cool.

  • How do strip the wire thingys! Help!

  • @HeyyitsGen No problem, HeyyitsGen-

Simply take a kitchen knife, and gently scrape the rubber off the the wire. The knife, will of course be parallel to the wire that you're stripping.

  • @HeyyitsGen

Lightly cut the insulation from the wire with the scissors (as if you were cutting paper), move all the way around, being ever so gentle. BUT DON'T CUT THE WIRE.

  • It took me a couple of tires, but this trick worked great for my Samsung Galaxy S.

    Thanks bro!

  • What a tramp!! Buy a charger you gypsy!!

  • mine didnt work

  • chargers cost £2 - £5 on ebay or amazon. and in $'s about $10 or $7

  • you just need to solder the red blue wire to your usb cable to your phone.

works great. No dropped calls and just as clear as a land line.

  • GOSH!! dont do it. Li-ion batteries are very sensitive on how it's being charged. They need to be regulated twice to smoothen the current flow. Most Li-ion batteries on phones has the average charging voltage between 4 - 4.9 volts. USB power is around 5 - 6 volts which kills the battery lifetime AND is a risk if the battery is not capable of baring charging at higher voltages than factory recommended charging voltage rate.

  • i tried this for like almost an hour now, and yet its not functioning because no charging icon appears, but when i tried to turn on my phone, i have 4 bars of battery? how will i know if it's charging or not? my phone is samsung corby.

  • i got the same phone mine sucks

  • thnx man... just did it

  • terrible idea.. if u short it u will fry ur usb port

  • Just finished rigging up the wires as instructed (I think) to my Samsung Transform. I secured my wires in the proper position with hot glue, as well, to reduce (hopefully) the odds of shorting out the phone.

To those who recommend getting a new usb cable--I did, but turns out I have a broken charger port. No time to get to the repair place tonight--hope this saves me. It's a real hassle to drive in Atlanta traffic. Thanks for posting this short and sweet video.

  • Um, dude. You just saved my life. xD How long do I keep it on the usb for though?

  • thank you for a short to the point video, no nonsense here

  • hell yea its working on my galaxy, good looking out

  • I tried this on my iphone lets just say things didnt go so well.

  • will it work for a galaxy s2

  • great vid... worked on my blackberry curve

  • @jpcolts Thanks jpcolts.

  • Buy a 2 dollar USB micro cable from Amazon and save yourself some grief...

  • @tileace DUDE. dude. make me a video of how to go to amazon and do that. =)

  • why dont u just use usb cable that u got with the phone. thats the way i do it

  • @KillzonePOL I didn't get a usb cable with my phone.

  • next time focus the camara onnn the cell phone not on the table

  • Be very careful with this method or you will lose more than $15-30 it takes to buy a charger!!

Unless battery is clearly labelled identifying positive and negative leads do not rely on "trial and error" method. Many manufacturers' batteries have more than just the 2 leads and they are NOT LABELLED.

Believe me, you can easily fry a battery and in some cases ruin your phone by applying the leads incorrectly. I have seen it happen to others.

If the leads are not labelled - it's piggy bank time :-)

  • @dharmanova lol you short circiut a battery to read the load.. So if you know anything about electricity, if the + / - is on the wrong way you'll heat up the battery, unplug it and switch the leeds hehe.

The problem is really how to tell its full. This way you have a very high chance of blowing up a lipo.. and it isnt pretty, it will melt the phone and set fire to anything near it..

I'd be going out and getting a proper charger (ANY 5 volt lipo battery charger works)

  • I got it now thanks bro!

  • but I have 4 wired from the USB

  • i broke my iphone tryen to get the battery out

  • thx man

  • it turns on but my phone dont charge why?

  • worked for my blackberry! thanks alot! i refused to spend money on another charger! but i have plenty USB's sitting around :)

  • it work on my collection of phones

  • shit don't work for me :(

  • @xNoSc0p3x you connected it wrongly it work for my two phones!

  • @ongchorcool I got it to work I thought any USB would work so I was using one from an old keybored but it wouldn't work so I just used my cell phone one.

  • I have the same phone! but i wanted to say thank you! cause im waiting for a job to call me and tell me when to start and tell me when to go in for work, this worked and i was really surprised but really happy about it, I would of went and bought a new charger except im broke as hell and i probably wont get one till they call me and i start work, thank you so much man! your a life saver!

  • thank your very muchit works like charm on xperia x8

  • you can buy a charger for $3 you tool

  • F.U.C.K

    DONT HATE ITS A SONG!!

  • Omfg, it works! Hellz yeah!

  • Hey man! LOL it works! Haha! I feel like Mcguver!

  • holly shit tht worked xD

  • mine doesnt say its charging but it says it ha low baterry which is more than ive had for a while ha

  • @kylethecatmuncher it works!

  • this can be fairly dodgy, cell phone batteries are LiPo which can be damaged by being drained too low or overcharging, your phone controls the charge to stop this happening which is what your bypassing by doing this. That's possibly what happened to mikes1chance.

Look up lipo explosion to see what can happen if you go totally over.

  • @sulpheralchemist I was hoping someone would say this... First rule of charging lithiums, use the specified charging method!

As far as other batteries go, like lead acid, and nickel based batteries, you can use anything within spec

  • It wont turn on now

  • @Karlwithak1221 try reinserting the battery it work for me!

  • I split the wires and hoked them up to the -/+ connector things on a casio gzOne brigade I accidentally ran the current backwards is this bad?

  • @Karlwithak1221 There are preventive circuits for that kind of thing. You don't have to worry.

    same phone btw.

  • my phone wont turn on . do i have to wait a while then turn it on ??

  • So u have enOugh money to buy a Sony vaio but can't buy a charger lmfao

  • Dont supose works with blackberry curve?

  • @Aimee2k10 no

  • I LOVE YOU, yhankyou sooo much. i was dyinggg with a dead ph0one, ahahahaha

  • this has worked for me, i saw this method on another site while looking for a way to temporarily charge my phone for a day or two until the charger i ordered gets here. i just wanted to know if using this method to charge my phone for the next 2 days could damage it, or if it has damaged your phone. i'm not overcharging it, nor do i plan to. that's the only safety measure i know of at this time.

  • Np to the people who this worked out for. Sorry to the guy it failed for. mikes1chance, sorry.

  • Dont do this i tried it an now everyt time i turn my phone on it says the battery is overheated it!! an turns off
