if you control the wood there is no grabbing , so you dont need to wait until the saw head comes to a complete stop. if you are a beginner then use the tip first, but later i can quarentee you that you forgot that.
ur supposed to pull the saw all the way towards you then turn it on bring it ALL the way down then all the way forward then let the blade stop and lift it. you get a smoother cut that way instead of driving it straight into the wood.
Thank you all of you guys who are making these safety movies. More women are wanting to do their own work regarding moldings and things because they can't afford to pay men so much, but few know how to use the saw safely. I still don't know how to cut window moldings that are wide on one side and narrow on the other though. Any secrets people need to know about that? Thanks for the suggestion about putting something on both sides.
Helps our a newbie very much. Why not use a circular saw? Do you like Porter Cable? Thanks!

Aren't you supposed to use the rails to slide into the material, and not just dive the saw into it?
Just started woodworking myself and bought the LS1016L, awesome saw.
Nothing reaches Makita, except Festool in europe...imho.
Safety ftw!
