EarthKAM is awesome! I was lucky enough to work a summer on the Images team and actually work with these images. I was never one interested in space, but working there made me realize how beautiful our world is....some of those images are breathtaking.
This video conveys some of the wonder that my very young (age 6-7) students experienced when we took part in the Autumns of 2002, 2004 and 2006. I'm a teacher at a little school in Essex, England and I didn't realise that we might not get to take part any more! Very disappointing - is there anything I can do to help from this distance?
Nicely done - great selection of images (I think I even recognize one of the annotated ones...)! I too was a part of EarthKAM from '04-'05 and it'd be a shame to see funding cut. Has anything changed or is there any new news?
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'm still unsure of the funding issue but I do know that the spring mission for April is HAPPENING! Our school is participating next week! I have been in contact with Senator Brownback's office and they have yet to get a firm answer from NASA. The budget issue you a little sticky and difficult to weed through.
I'm still trying to figure out the plan for the program, but the February mission was canceled and it's looking like the April one will be as well. :(
EarthKAM's doing well and getting bigger. We're starting up MoonKAM soon.
