People with imaginary friends scare me. Religious people have lost EVERY single debate when it comes to God. The common folk find religion to be true. The wise find it false. The people in government find religion useful.
My experiance is that some christian people in Japan,,,have STRANGE views. One of my students has a English name, but hes japanese. When I asked why she named him micheal, she said its a christian name.... I though it was really strange, sure theres names of people who are named micheal and christian, maybe in the bible too. but its a English name, not a 'christian' name. And the kid was also learning english because 'he is christian'. which i though was strange to learn a language for religion.
@rainbowrants i met a korean guy from korea who did the same he had his christian name&korean name i forgot what he called himself in english i think it was paul or something like that but i dont see why he needed another name for himself
@RosePearlCameo yea I was sooo friggen confused too. And kinda insulted. English names don't mean christianity. I hate when people assume that name means your religion. And I think its stupid to go the extents of changing your name for a religion. Its like, disrespect to your parents for giving you that name.
@DudeRicky0253 you will find really small churches here in Japan, its weird i see churches even in the mountain area (i seen a cross on the top of the steeple)&everytime i have gone on a drive w/my husband to different areas of Japan i spot a church somewhere & there is a church in just a 3 minute walk from my apartment. i was suprised to hear about Tokyo Woman's Christian University. So i guess there are a few even though its a really small amount.
real note - Buddhism is peculiar since its different to many religion, its has lots of freedom and no specific requirement. There were debate in if its a religion at all.
I think all religion are sending good message to human. But what make the religion bad is human's behavior using the name of God. In Kobe there is Mosque, Hindu temple, Jainizm temple, Sikhism temple other than Christian or Buddhism places. If you are interested you can go to talk to them. BTW, I was recruited by Mormons 30 few years ago, but they are not seen recently. Jehovah's Witnesses are active but not welcomed. No Synagogue here.
@kayanomae ”to not be religiously active” は宗教には活動的ではないというね。学びました。ありがとう。日本人だけでなくキリスト教には活動的ではないアメリカ人も多いと思います。Not only Japanese, but there are a lot "Christians" in America who don't practice Christianity actively as well.
@xINVISIGOTHx A New Year unites the family. Also from late Apr. to early May we have "Golden Week" which comes with many official holiday. In summer we have Buddhism activity called "O-Bon". I think both New Year and "O-Bon" is equally important for Japanese.

全ての宗教の基だと思います。八百万の神です。戦後アメリカは、キリスト教に改宗させようとしましたが、成功しませんでした。

You are such a keen observer!
