A little trivia: YAN Mfg. (the chair lift company) went bankrupt due to the clamps on several chair lifts like this one (where the chair clamps the cable when leaving the terminal) that weren't gripping the cable properly, causing a domino effect on steep sections where one chair would start sliding down the cable, ramming the next one, ramming the next one, until they'd hit a guide pole, pop off, and crash down the mountain. Good times. :D
Good fun, that chair. It takes you a bit by surprise the first time you do it.
Answering the "why are you going down?" questions (again) - it's taking you from one area to another, and there's nothing skiable on that side to get you to the bottom (at least not without going a long way around).
Yeah that is f*cking steep. Yeah the first time would be really scarey but it is still very steep. Great job and keep up the good work. God Bless all who serve!
im here in avon (like 8 miles from vail and the city where beaver creek lies) and the Beaver Creek landing lift is pretty steep and rattles your balls.
yh in europe, there are thousands of lifts steeper than that.
in norway, there were a load of single seat wooden chairs with i single (thin) chain that goes across the front - they moved really fast and on a really steep incline, and in the wind and blizzards your blown about so much its like a swing!!
You all are too funny. In the US, we have tons of lifts that steep and half of them don't even have safety bars!! You're just not going downhill which makes it seem so much steeper.
Can people please get back to posting the nice comments... though it probably did deserve those last three replies. However, the girl is my sister - and can be far more annoying.. it wasn't the first time we did that - so I didn't ruin it for her.
i feel sorry for the girl she just sits there and listens t the guy complaine and go on about how "disguisting" the chair lift is...i hate people like that
great terrain under the lift, makes me wanna shred it *_* just needs some more snow

platinumfootage 2 years ago
@platinumfootage Because there is a valley so it can't just go straight. The poles would have to be really tall.
