Maybe it was a poacher, left from that prairie/wooded area, crossed through your yard leaving the woods, rabbit's head was cut off as it wasn't yet dead, accidently dropped it from his game bag on the way out?
It is clearly the work of the extraterestrial genetic harvest.
These kind of mutulations have been going on since...well,the 70's.
You should watch the history chanell buddy. It will explain some things to you.
As you said, there is NO trail of blood. From my point of perspective it is done by some sort of an alien tool. You can only see the blood inside the rabbit.
And nowhere else.Give me the name of ONE human tool that can do the exact
same thing without spilling the blood of another rabbit.
I found one literally 5 minutes ago, went on the internet to see what couldve done it. The neighbor has two cats. Its head was clean off, nothing else was missing from the rabbit.
i just had one today, its the weirdest damned thing. Ive seen plenty of animals get eaten by coyotes, but todays rabit had absolutely no other damage other than some fur missing of the hind quarter, but no meat gone. Ive heard house cats will sometimes do this as a territorial thing. IDK its just wierd.

I've had that happen to me as well here in Michigan. It was determined to be caused by Coyotes or a smiliar carnivorious animal. Could that be possible near you?
check out wiki answers... Which animal eat the head of the rabbit in the night
Apparently this is standard dining practice of owls... they eat the head first usually and sometimes only eat the head... this makes since that the cut is so clean because the owl beak is certainly sharp and meticulous as a knife. Either this or a cat, because there is a video of a cat decapitating a rabbit on youtube but it eats the body.
im in the US in North Carolina, and My dog just brought one that looks EXACTLY like this... we have about two acer right on a main road and surrounded by other neighborhoods, but i dont think my dog is quick or cunning enough to catch a rabbit being only a year old, not experienced at such... he brought it up playing with it, and we have no idea where the head is. Weird that if a predator killed it it didnt eat anything but the head... also hadnt been dead that long, and no smell. crazy...
@rullf1985 No blood trail. I had been in the back garden doing yard work since about 11am that morning - I would have noticed somone coming on the property.
BTW: Yard is a mess because I'm in the middle of installing a greenhouse. Had to dig some footings an pull up the old weed barrier, etc. That's all the junk you see on the grass.
@quatlen Pair of nitrile gloves for the impromptu necropsy. Don't need CSI to figure it died from an insufficient number of heads.
Picked it up using an inside-out trash bag, flipped the bag the right-way out, tied it off and set it aside for the local wildlife officer to check out.
@meatloaf666999 Funny thing i that it didn't smell and there was no insect activity, but rigor had set in and it was cold. That would put it at something like 6-24 hours dead.
After more research I believe it's an act of predation, but stull not completely sure what the predator was.

I saw a fly in my kitchen today get decapitated. I didn't do anything to it at all. It just fell from the air, head missing, still trying to fly.

@rextinctione There seems to be a handful of these cases reported across the country. Looks to be an act of nature, but it's still pretty wierd.

i think it's weird how clean the rest of the body is too.
if it is in fact somebody, they need to be caught and thrown in jail.
