  • Hip hop is music born through the souls of poor black people via means of escapism. Some voices of this music are political and some voices are euphoric, either way this music was born from black people. It is safe to say that black people have not been dealt a fair hand in history and credibility. In light of this fact, some black people feel an allegiance to this music, as not many things born from the creativity of black people have been accredited with global merit. (continued)

  • (continued) This music is flexible with a culture of an informal lifestyle and poetry in motion. Hip Hop's popularity is testimony that everyone no matter what colour can relate, even if it is used for entertainment far removed from its original beginnings. It is important to keep it in the minds of everybody touched by this music that it is from a humble beginning with some sinister origins. Hip hop is humanities favourite music - but let us not forget how it arrived:

  • this song is actually so lyrical. love it.

  • "oh but of course.. there is no wine in the world like - "

  • good shit

makes me wonder where doom would be if dj subroc wasn't killed

  • @antsorter he probably wouldn't be ripping off venues and fans with those fake shows he pulls every year, and wouldn't be banking off of the lame mystique he thinks he has. I love DOOM but he's pulled some whack sh**

  • I dont drink I guzzle

  • "see me i'm chillin like the maniacal villain that i am"

  • favourite from black bastards.

  • payed some old dude named al to buy this for me

  • @Account Manager25 What are you talking about? How do you know what people were doing? Who made you the authority on hip hop? And I'm black.

  • This shit is hot, I miss the hell out of good music.

  • @AccountManager25as much as I see and fell the point your trying to make some of us white folk were actually very much involved in the Hip Hop Culture and while you were in your crib we were at the Roxy.. There hasn't been shit going on in hip hop that really compares to this as far as style and lyrical awareness, now it's all water downed bullshit with a guest pop star appearence on every other trac, one of the only artists I still really feel is Mos def..

  • @AccountManager25 music has no color man. stop trying to do what the media does.

  • @AccountManager25 - that is the MOST ignorant thing I have EVER heard. I cant even be bothered to explain why. Idiot.

  • @THEMEfamily that guys just pissed that he got dissed for liking kanye west HAHAHA

  • @AccountManager25 You like Kanye West, your opinion doesnt mean anything.

  • @mrugod so? im a kanye west fan, not as big as KMD/MF Doom, but he put out some dope stuff before he went ego tripping. his new album is good too

  • @mrugod I like both KMD and Kanye, so I guess my opinion doesn't mean anything either. We're at a standstill.

  • @AccountManager25 who cares

  • @AccountManager25........What does that comment actually mean?

Cause i can only figure that your an idiot trying to say something partially racist but it just came out as some shit that has made you out to look like a fool. Who gives a flying fuck about what you listened to in your crib. Its about here and now dickhead and you like gay fish.

  • @AccountManager25 man stfu ive always listened to this sort of shit and u probably black and still listen to the radio listening for kanye west or some lil wayne idc that u like em but just becuase ur black doesnt mean u know shit even if ur not black idc realy dont diss on ppls race fool its not cool and u were not in ur baby crib listening to this dont lie and who cares if ur in ur crib listening to it then oh good for u life goes on

  • @AccountManager25

So because we weren't listening to this in our baby crib we aren't allowed to like it? And who the fuck says we wouldn't be saying that we like hiphop if it wasn't the biggest music genre. Also, since when is it the biggest music genre for that matter?

    You're a dick.

  • @AccountManager25 i don't know why people voted this down, its a valid comment.

I think oldschool hip hop is absolutely fantastic and some new underground stuff is ill too, mainstream music is garbage imo. I have no history with oldschool rap; there are those from the hood and those from the streets, and those just out to enjoy dope beats. Either way this summer you're gonna catch me jamming hard to this type of music because I LOVE HIP HOP

  • @AccountManager25 interesting thoughts....this album was named after you

  • @AccountManager25 how can you tell whos white by text?

  • @AccountManager25 My father didn't, but my cousin did. I was 13 when I first heard this track in 98 and I also happened to be a white kid from the suburbs in Australia. Stop generalising you elitest wanker.

Also, if the age listed on your profile is correct, you were an old ass motherfucker to still be in your crib when this track came out.

  • @AccountManager25 Father,,,, DRinks wine, Mother Drinks wine, father gets horny , mother gets pregnant , baby is created , baby is retarded, baby later shows the abortion didnt hold by posting on youtube and listening to the song he was concieved too? Whilst making a racist remark which is equal to saying a black man has no right to listen to bob dylan.

  • @AccountManager25 bro..im black..im 18..i grew up to my fam playing nothing but soul all day..barely hip hop not enless it was mainstream and on the radio...so whatcha tryna say?..if someone puts the time curouisty and decidication into hip hop to look it up and learn about its roots and stuff threw that...why does it matter..its still the same essence..

sorry for bad english..nah nevermind i dont give a fuck

  • @AccountManager25 who the fuck cares where they found this song.

  • good ass party and chillin song

    kmd is mad dope

  • should i buy this album off itunes or go to like a best buy and get it?

  • artists get more money by hardcopies. So do the best buy thing

  • thats true Best buy has a lot better prices than F.Y.E.

  • Plus if you get the hard copy at best buy, you'll get one of the dopest KMD tracks ever, the "What A Niggy Know?" remix with MF GRIMM.

  • go to best buy if you want to purchase the best of sting, but theres no way they got this on their shelves

  • @imkontagious I actually bought this album when i was at best buy, I couldn't believe it either

  • Wow, I seriously love this music production, holy crap is there an instrumental?

  • i have a few of there instrumentals but not this one but get the special herbs albums if u want them

  • WHY DON'T YOU AND I HAVE A DRINK?? :D

  • Fuck!i dance in front of my computer..ah ah ah ..Subroc you have a first place in the paradise of Artist(R.I.P) Hip HOP world wild from switzerland..

  • Elektra fronted on KMD by not putting this record out in 1994 all because of the cover art??? Fuck elektra.Anyway I got this album and I'm glad it was finally put out in 2001 (R.I.P to Subroc) Kause.Much.Damage 4 life.

  • yeah elektra even dropped some of the hiero members. i wish it was released earlier. but at least its out.

  • souls of mischief rite?

  • regardless doom always kills it

  • Dope Dope!... Still a fan of Doom don't give a fuck what any says...

  • What happened to the vigor of Daniel, he raps all quiet now. He forgot the funk.

  • Becuase times have changed and no one raps like that anymore.

  • yeah, but it makes such a difference. the farther away you get from monotone, the better, I think. Like, look at Grand Puba. Someone like Gang Starr is just bland to me, even though his rhymes and beats are sweet.

  • There is people rappin like that. Only people that are keepin it real. Fuck the monotone lifeless shit

  • Monotone could sound good you know.. 50 cent raps monotone, he SUCKS. MF Doom raps monotone, but that is sweeeet like sugar ^^

  • Nah, I think it sounds good with Doom because it expresses the lyrics which is some funny shit. You know what I mean! But anyone else it just don't work. I just like it when it's lively, you can burst energy into emphasis and the songs all in your attention. Boom bap

  • True :). There are barely any nowadays hiphop i really like, except aussie hiphop.. And Jurassic 5 maybe :D

  • Yeah me too. Theres a lot hip hop in the UK thats got that oldschool touch, but theres also a lot of bullshit going on here too

  • There's alot of bullshit going on everywhere...that's what happens when record companies turn a genre into a money making scheme.

  • Yeah no doubt. Once those companies start taking over they think of all the ways to make their money. Dumb down the people and give them these stupid fuckin gimmicks left right and center and they love it cos it's all they know

  • It says alot to the majority's intelligence though. If there are enough Soulja Boy fans to give him a platinum record, than over a million people are stupid as fuck.

  • "just casue you sell i million records doesnt mean you spit, it just means that a million people are stuiped as fuck" Immortal technque

  • Oh damn! I just typed that out to respond to your comment and then I looked down and here it is.

Looks like we're on the same page.

    IT is fucking insane.

  • Yeah, because Doom also seems to have actually tried to construct lyrics with merit as opposed to 50's cynical grab for chart placement.

  • what i'm saying is tone increases intelligibility. one favorite of mine is jake lefco's song headphones.

mf doom's rhymes are so good he almost doesn't have to, but I would enjoy it.

after listening to lots and lots of his music now i can now say, on the rare occasion, he does treat us to some little inflections and occasionally sings in his terrible terrible lovable voice. i just wish he did it more often. but thats just my tastes, if you can get by with monotone, then by all means do it.

  • Minus pretty much all underground groups which are at least partly based on old school rap.

Check the record sales. As mainstream rap gets less and less creative, old school/underground rap sales are growing every day...

  • If thats right man that makes me happy. I don't like people to think rap and hip hop was the same thing and go off hip hop onto other music thinking they knew it. Its such a big thing to waste

  • It happens in pretty much every genre. It's not just the rap on the radio that gives good hip hop a bad name, look at rock. I'm not too big into rock at all, but I'm smart enough to know the difference between something creative and original vs. the junk they play over the airwaves.

The numbers are poiting to a trend in which the mainstream is losing sales and the underground is gradually getting more recognition.

  • You could not be any more right if you only knew how much money I have spent on underground and oldschool music, never dropping a dime for any of that material being pumped to the youth these days.I don't got no love for anybody that stands behind that mindless mainstream shit.I miss variety letting people have a choice.

  • but if under ground becomes more and more popular then it becomes mainstream its a bitch aint it. just like mac dre he wanted to stay underground but when he died it all became mainstream THIZZ IN PEACE Mac DRE

  • I don't think the problem so much is that the music is listened to by many people, but more that seemingly every artist is willing to sell out his/her creativity in order to make some money. The music then gets rushed, half assed and exploited and "walla"....a platinum record.

I think Immortal Technique said it best: "If you go platinum it's got nothing to do with luck. It just means that a million people are stupid as fuck."

  • It's great to see doom live has some energy when he does it live. You can tell he has a doomposter when it ain't like that.
