The confusion of gender is destructive to society.
gays are not animals or robots. they have freewill and even if they didn't have freewill it still would not justify labeling their relationship something that its clearly not because it is biologically impossible for same sex couples to procreate and rear-children NATURALLY. its not about being straight or gay to be able to enter the institution. its about whether you can help society as a whole.
@kenballer00 that is a good point, however, if these people are in love and want to live together, think of the issues such as hospital visitation rights, and tax breaks and things like that. just because they can't create a child doesn't mean they can't raise one. from the gay people i've seen they bring their children up to be accepting and loving people, which i think is a great thing.
We can always make sure that civil unions have all the same rights (including federal down) the future without having to redefining marriage for everybody else

The state is not there to issue love licenses.
