The er-1 does drums only

The em-1 does synth and drums.

The es-1 does sampling.

The ea-1 does synth only.

Best value is em-1.

You want the basics? I'll give you the basics for dance music in 3 steps:

1. 4 beats = 1 bar

2. 8 bars (aka 32 beats) = 1 phrase

3. now. Everytime the music changes it changes on a phrase.

Go ahead. Listen to any of your house songs you got. every time the music changes count to 32 and the next beat will always be a new phrase.

As far as keys go, well, unless you're writing a symphony, just a basic ear for key matching is all you'll need for now.

Should be. Its offspring (Electribe MX) can. Even transmits MIDI from each knob if you want.

The MX is worth it for the 9x Drum parts, 5x Synth parts, heaps of weird effects and 4x outputs (2x stereo but everything can be panned hard, I use it as 2x stereo +Kick drum out +Bass out) And a Ribbon-controlled arp ftw!

I figure I could bank in some beats n bass & midisounds to a Zoom MRS-1608CD & toss in a Kaoss Pad KP3 & record to CD-R the whole thing. The really kool part of it izzat no two extrusions are really alike.
