John did hate events like these as well as the others to....he said he felt like they were trained monkeys put on display to perform and for the most part parties like this one was very boring to him.

You are so right about the Beatles NOT wanting to be there. I have an interview with John where he talks about this event, and he said that it was a real drag for the Beatles to be there with all those celebrites & reporters hounding them.

What gets me is what stuffed shirts the older generation was at this time. The guy interviewing Yorty's son just can't understand how he can possibly like the Beatles even when the kid explains it over and over. They refused to see it. Just didn't get it. Jeez. Interesting though.
