I was wondering what the advantage is to inserting the pot into the barrel as apposed to leaving the the top on the barrel and resting the pot on top.
That thing would make a perfect crawfish boiler. How long does it take to get it to boil? We boil crawfish around here in Louisiana USA and usually use propaine boilers sounds like a rocket when the boiler is cranked up.

@toelesshoe If it was left on top, only the bottom would be heated. By forcing the air up the sides, a *lot* more heat is transferred into the pot.

@cdltpx 3lb of wood scraps will bring 8 gallons of water to a boil, probably taking 6-8 minutes, based on similar designs.
