@brycehelmer Oh yes. They have such a perfect form, amazing pirouettes, legs always glued together but their kips to cast has been a problem for most of them. But there were chinese gymnasts, like Mo Huilan who never struggled on casts.
What about 1/2 giants to get into el grip? For example what Yilin does are Higgins rolls or blind changes?I guess from the CoP point of view it doesn't really matter but I am however curious about these ones!
Healy, and higgins roll are typically done during the fall from handstand. The girls were the first to pick up the method of turning before you even reach the handstand, which is much much more difficult, but does eliminate deduction.
From my 12 years in gymnastics, I would say they are Higgins rolls when she catches in El, and mixed, but blind changes when she catches in front giant grip.
I've got a question, nothing really to do with WAG though. What is the difference between a Tsukahara and a Kasamatsu style vault? How can one tell when they see it in competition?
Thanks for explaining!!! I really dont see it but your text makes it senseble! Even if I dont understand everything of it because I usually dont speak English...^^
A giant, short for giant swing, is where the gymnast swings around the bar. A cast is where the gymnast swings his or her legs forward, then brings his or her legs up to the bar, and then lifts his or her body up to the bar and hopefully ends in handstand.
Oh! Sorry, the reason that both are considered B elements is because you have to end in perfect handstand, quite like how a clear hip circle is a C because you have to finish in handstand. In a giant you have to start and finish in handstand.
Well considering that a double front is D and Nastia performs a double front half out which is still a D, Nastia does not necessarily perform the 'easiest' dismount. However, I do think she does need to clean up her form on her dismount.
Usually, double front with a half turn makes the move easier due to it is easy to land well.
Eg, both Shushunova and Def placed as a G, but Def is way more difficult than Shushunova, the only reason no one uses Shushunova now is due to the definition of it and the original move performed by her are totally different, well ,that's a whole other story of dark side about Russia.
@backflipboy27, Usually, there are 6 Ds used these days, double arab tuck, tuck/pike full-in, double layout, double front and double front half out. Double front is the most difficult among these, it's hard to get momentum and it's hart to land. In nowerdays, to get a perfect double layout is much harder than the days even Miller could be UB champion。In 08 era, 10 moves needed addup the A score, not some many could hold the double layout perfect, that's why nastia changed her dismount.
@yueshili usually people are doing arabian double tuck and piked full-in?? are you on crack? and no, double fronts are not the hardest D dismount, it's one of the easiest to do but I'll agree it's hard to land
and no, nastia changed her dismount because her technique was going to shit and she always had a problem chucking it too far out
@backflipboy27 maybe I'm not clear, by among these, I meant that three front move. Double arabian and piked full-in are not as popular as the others, but you still could see them and they are common then 2.5 back, front half in, back tuck out, and back full tuck from low bar.
I still think nastia changed her dismount because she cant maintain her body position, her dismount at 06 worlds is the worst double layout ever.
o ok here goes. an ono is a spin on one arm and when the gymnast grasps the bar, her hand is grasping the bar the opposite way of the swing if that makes sense. ex. 0:19 a healy is a spin on one arm where when the hand grasps the bar it is with the swing if you still get it. ex. 0:21 and finally if i understand correctly, a ling is very similar to a
(continued) healy, but at the half way point, the gymnast grasps the bar, then does an another half pirouette. (this makes it easier). someone may correct me if i'm wrong about the ling.
Have the chinese gymnast always struggled with their casts on the higher bar?

How can you tell when it is a Higgins roll or a blind change?

@silivas4ever A blind you turn before handstand and an higgins you do in handstand.

does anybody know her difficulty in bars??
SxxyBack00 2 years ago
I'll introduce the 4 moves to you.
Ling(Ling Jie got it named after her in 1999):from L grip (rearward)-release one arm-hop to reverse grip-full turn on one arm to L grip.(3.510)
Bi(Bi Wenjing, 1997):from L grip-full turn on one arm to reverse grip(3.506)
Karpenko(Viktoria Karpenko):Bi without lifting the release arm high(3.506)
Lin(Lin Li, 2004):from reverse grip-full turn on one arm-end in L grip. also Healy.(3.510)
all above are E elements.
xlhdh 2 years ago
Ono is also called Bi, as this turn was Bi Wenjing used as first time in Women's UB.
Healy also called Lin, as Lin li first did in Women's UB, but for some uncleared reason, no one keeps calling it Lin any more.
Can some one indicate am I right?

Okay
Im a male gymnast, and its exactly the same.
Healy- Is front giant grip with a full turn into mixed, or el grip.
Ono- Is from mixed or el grip and full turn into front giant grip (exactly reverse of healy)
Ling- is from el grip and you hop and then do a healy in the same giant

Well silivas,
here is the problem.

Anything else? i got answers ahah
gaarenstroomgymnast 2 years ago
An example of a higgins to el grip is at "0:17" seconds.
She actually does it the way it has been down for years, on the fall of the giant, and not when it swings up.

@gaarenstroomgymnast If a Ling turn is basically the same as a Healy turn... why is it classified as a D skill in this routine?

whats the difference between an ono and a healy and a ling?
kelloggx3 2 years ago
Can someone explain me the difference between Ono and Healy? They look the same for me, but probably its just too fast for me to see...
KarpfenKarpfen 2 years ago
Me too, they look exactly the same. Maybe it is the grip difference?

I also think so, but I really dont see it...Wish I would!^^

pong0622 2 years ago
Yilin's turns on one arm were (in order):
1 - L to reverse grip
2 - reverse to L-grip
3 - mix to regular grip
4 - mix to L-grip
5 - reverse to regular grip

KarpfenKarpfen 2 years ago
Yeah, it's a bit hard to see that, it's very complex to understand too
But to really understand you have to do these grips. I got these grips when I tried myself (not swiging like gymnasts, but just hanging on a bar)...
nikirififo 2 years ago
haha, maybe I should also try that...^^

i can't believe it. ksenia and liukin has the same level of difficulty of their dismount?! i think nastia's and ksenia's more difficult
gyuasg 2 years ago
Ksenia has a E level dismount, the Li Ya.
Nastia has a D level dismount, and her dismount performance is considering the most easy one in all D level dismounts but the worst executed one.
