@gristlethrob777 That accolad, for me, would have to go to " The Ballinalee ". A stunning instrumental from Shane that show's how well the band could play by that time. Christ only knows how it din't make the " Grace..." album. Any other producer but that cunt Lillywhite, who by his own admission had no idea how to record a tin whistle, would have plumped for this. Imagine this on the heels of " Fairytale..." ? If only .
maybe thats just the reason, when being a genius, you realize most things, and so you cant handle reality that good, which equals that you start to use some type drug, for this example booze
"NW3" is probably the best Pogues song never released. Shane wrote it sometime between the summer and fall of 1987, just missing the recording of If I Should Fall from Grace with God, and this demo is from October of that year. The band tried to include it on subsequent albums, but it never quite seemed to fit. Shane's song "Mother Mo Chroi" from The Crock of Gold is merely a reworking of "NW3".
couldn't agree more. should have been on at least one of their releases. it was actually on a bootleg "live from sweden" before macgowan remade it as "mother mo chroi."
Probably the greatest pogues-song, period.

sorry, but what "mothe mo chroi" means?
Tullamore1989 2 years ago
this sounds like mother mo chroi, the first verse and the melody
hersey77 3 years ago
Yeah the melody is exactly the same and the first verse is mighty similar, I guess Shane thought the melody was too good to be left unreleased :)
SwindonByf 3 years ago
If I'm not mistaken, the last two verses are pretty much the same...
