I find it interesting how many here just sweep under the historical carpet the views of such founding fathers as Thomas Paine. I guess that is easy to do when your goal is jingoism.

Religious Affiliation: none
Summary of Religious Views: Paine's mother was Anglican, & his father was a Quaker. Exposure to these two very different religious traditions probably had a significant influence on Paine's ultimate religious development.

Although he is often thought of as and atheist, Paine was actually a deist. Paine wrote extensively on the subject of religion, both promoting deism and criticizing Christianity and other religions, especially deriding belief in miracles other non-naturalistic occurrences.

Views on Religion & Politics: Paine strongly favored the separation of church and state, believing that government should be based on reason, not faith. He believed that the only valid role of government in religious affairs was to protect freedom of religion.

Your so full of it. Half the founding were not practicing Christians. Whether Atheist, Deist, or non-church goers, they were not what you paint them to be.
Well, none were atheists... Some were theists, some deists... all believed in a god to an extent, that was their basis for natural law and natural rights. Even the least theistic founding fathers like Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin found a place for faith in the political process.
George Washington was completely convinced the the fate of the Republic rested solely on the blessing of God. This shows in his letters and speeches, I agree with him.
This is the most important message. If we as a country get this right - everything else will be in allignment. Our rights come from God, not government. That is herecy to Hillary Clinton.
Oh, I understand... Unfortunately this is not an ad by the campaign... I suggest that they adopt it and throw it on the air. Free work for the campaign, they only have to pay the air-time fees... And it speaks to why I support Mike...
Yeah, God, but not the Biblical only God.

So where on that list do you suppose the deists like Jefferson and Franklin and Paine are? Hmm...oddly you don't have any deists on your list.
Go back to school, son.

The Founding Fathers said that it was SELF-EVIDENT that the world was CREATED by God, SELF-EVIDENT that our rights come from God.

Huckabee should run this ad instead of the Chuck Norris ad... This is more what his candidacy is all about! 100% Kudos to you!

Don't worry, the Norris ad was just a lead in... the serious ads are yet to come!
