  • They're really close, but while I think the iPad is more smooth, I think that the Touchpad as a whole captures more of what a tablet should be like. And if I want more apps, I can install Android OS and have wayyy more app options than the iPad. So for me, Toushpad is one of the best ones out there.

Although it would be interesting to see the HP versus the Asus Prime =)

  • I have a HP Touchpad, and i do enjoy using it, though sometimes it chokes and slows right down and i have to wait while it sorts itself out. I like the OS and its interface, though i feel like it could perhaps have been coded/developed better to run faster/smoother. i also think its a shame that they throttled the CPU to 1.2, when people are successfully overclocking them to 1.9 with obvious no draw back, and making it run much faster. I like the unit, but the apparent lag really annoys me.

  • Thanks for this review! I agree with your vote for the HP Touchpad 100%. I just ordered one (used) from Amazon after being derailed last summer by HP's insane decision to discontinue the model. I missed out on the $99 firesale, gave up on it with regret but ran into an IPAD fanatic who had to concede that the Touchpad was amazing. I'm a Palm Pre Plus user and after using that superior multi-tasking interface I can't settle for the lesser Android and IPad interfaces. I

  • @GoodnWise Enjoy your new TouchPad.

  • How long is THE battery life

  • head and shoulders is good shampoo

  • @Randomguy578 thats random, randomguy

  • Thanks for helping me :)

I like the IPAD features better, the multitask is no bigg deal, you can do multi-task on both, but you cant get that of a good apps on the touchpad since its not all that... maybe in the future though ..

  • Thats why we have jailbreak and cydia. People , use it!

  • Download multifl0w and cardswitcher as well

  • With the help of cydia, I can do the smae or even more on I pad 2. I go with iPad 2 by the end of the day. Btw I have true multitaskimg on iPad 2 as well. Donwload from cydia backgrounder and multicleaner

  • Nice work techharvest but i want to know your opinion about HP slate 2 and is it better than ipad2 & xoom or not in your opinion?

what do you think, what is the best win 7 tablet???

    thank you

  • @THEMENAMAX I'm not going to start reviewing Windows tablets until Windows 8 comes out. All current Windows tablets run Windows 7 and really there is no benefit from the touch interface. You are better off spending $699 on a good Core i5 Windows laptop then spending $699 on the HP Slate with an Atom processor.

  • how much is the touchpad

  • @wallstreet232 The HP Touchpad has been discontinued. You can pick up a refurbished one or a second hand one for about $250-$300. WebOS has been open sourced though, so hopefully there will be new devices coming out that run the operating system.

  • @TechHarvest WRONG! tonight at 6 pm central time on the HP ebay store refurbished touchpads go on sale for $99!!!! Get one while you can!!!

  • @pogochewy That's a limited time special to clear out inventory. The TouchPad has been discontinued.

  • HP Touch pads are on sale because no one thought that they where worth $500 like iPad 1 or 2. Plus with iPad you can get a 3G network with Verizon or AT&T. Can you do that with HP Touch pad? Plus there's multitouch gestured on iPad that work great, and as far as I'm concerned people rarely need flash, HTML-5 is superior because it's efficient and secure. Angry Birds? Really? That was soooooo 2 years ago. Apple users have moved on to other better things than Angry Birds because developers prefer

  • LOL just that angry birds thing would make me buy this

  • You can get flash on da ipad by downloading an app called cloudbrowse..and u can jailbreak ur ipad nd it`ll be so kool! nd u can do much more stuff on a ipad... so iThinkk an ipad is better..

  • @always Cloudbrowse is connecting to another guys servers and view the flash those servers are rendering.. Its streaming in other words, also, you can install android on the touchpad opening a huge catalog of apps

  • im finding an ipad alternative and i saw this and you made my decision of getting an HP touchpad

  • @nv387950 Great, enjoy your TouchPad.

  • this video is pretty useful. i was not so familiar with the touchpad before. now i come to the mind to buy touchpad as it is too cheaper than ipad in cost but function pretty much similar. thx for awesome video. i can get 2 hp touchpad in one ipad cost.

  • @1Thesharad I'm glad I could help. Thanks for watching.

  • I think you just won me on HP TouchPad! Hey i watched all three videoes but i still remained with question of if i could take normal notes as im taking notes in notebook with pen and paper. Do you know if i can do on either of these devices? Thank you ! btw no lies but YOU have one of THE BEST REVIEW out there on YOUTUBE! thanks once again!

  • going to show my parents this video and try to convince them to get me the hp touchpad !

  • @nikkinunez8 Cool, let me know how it works out.

  • WebOS is genius. The best OS Ever!

Everyone that is not a biased fanboy who have used WebOS all agree that it's amazing.

And now with the new updates and patches it's even better.

I really hope HP doesn't do something stupid and end WebOS, just because they came into the Tablet market with a rough start and had bad marketing in comparison to Apple and Android.

Long live WebOS and HP. Getting the 16GB from Amazon for $300 was the best buy I've ever made. :)

  • Just a quick add. iPad 2 has multi touch gestures ...you can have more then 4 apps on the bottom, and you don't need to have a computer with iCloud you never need to connect your iPad to a computer again and I have the hip touch pad, the acer trans form and iPad , I'm always on my iPad because it never lags, freezes, or slows down on me like the hp and acer :)

  • hahahahahahaha!!! I am watching this review on my Hp touchpad, I had no idea about the angry birds easter egg.... Thanks dude!!!

  • @AmericasGerman123 Very cool little bonus.

  • i personally like HP Touchpad. Is there headphone including for HP Touchpad? If it not, can i use PC headphone instead of?

    Thank you

  • @somnuc699 You can use any headphones that have a 3.5mm jack.

  • Does it sync with MAC ?

  • Yes i want to say i practically have same opinion like you, the reason way to buy one of this devices is to relax on the couch to watch a movie or listing music and same time to browse internet, yes we can do this on desktop BUT from my experience for long time is tiring, this is the function of this both devices, no mater how much app have Apple to use every day ... and one if i not wrong iPad NEED iTunes software to connect to PC I DO'NT LIKE THIS ..... that it i choice HP TouchPad

  • great job TechHarvest... I really like the hp touchpad, and I like the multitaskin of the touchpad...

  • @fer6455 Thanks! WebOS is a great OS. Hopefully it can live on in a meaningful way.

  • We dont need a tutorial on how to use these devices, just get on with the head to head

  • THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR BRAIN!!!

  • @jamesc001100 man i think you have a problem with you brain

  • Comment removed

  • i go with the hp tablet. but now im wondering which to buy now the lepan tablet or the hp touchpad

  • Battery life!!! that is the question. The ipad has more battery life than the touchpad.

  • I think I want the HP TouchPad after your honest review. I already have an iPhone so my apps are not a priority. Great Job!

  • @ParisTokyo26 Thanks!

  • @ParisTokyo26 If your apps are Priority then Get a ipad :L App store has more apps than any other device

  • @tcerami iPad 2 is better YOU BIG FAT LIE

  • @gr5attacks yea but who the fuck is gonna buy a $500 tablet when you can get one just about the same for $99

  • Thank you Very Much In My Opinion Hp Too ;) Thank U

  • I think there is a reason why apple dose what it dose, you will see when your hp crashes,or starts to slow down. Just Flash for example is known to cause virus.

  • @GooseMTNZ Claiming what has not occurred yet is nowhere a bright idea to do. I don't understand why people had to say something bad about a thing which they don't like even if it's good all d way.

  • Smoking good hands on comparison. I really thought your end choice was going to be Club A's product.

Feeling good about my HP tablet @ $99 in the mail. Wondering what kind of support will remain for the software? Dollar for dollar: after seeing the WebOS I would pick HP's Tablet. I'd liked to have seen a sd card slot and back facing camera, but hey!

  • Great Video, Good Comparisons, It all makes sense !!! I looked and looked and LOOKED for the perfect tablet for myself, and the Fire Sale found me this Bad Boy (32GB Touchpad) !!! Although I paid $240 for my Touchpad (craigslist), it has been worth every Penny, THIS THING ROCKS !!! I feel as I always have about the ipad 2 (& ALMOST ALL APPLE PRODUCTS), it is amazing, but overpriced !!! The Touchpad for $399+ is like ALL the other tablets around (preference), but, for >$250 TOUCHPAD IS KING !!

  • I love my new TouchPad for exactly the reasons discussed in this video. My wife, who really does not lime new stuff is also hooked on it. Thanks for the quality video.

  • @tcerami Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for watching!

  • @tcerami Maybe HP will change it's mind about relly dropping the Touchpad with Meg in charge.

  • @NUCONcept We'll see. It would be nice.

  • @NUCONcept HP/Meg just announced it will not lay off it's PC department anyway, but the future of WebOS and hardware products is still uncertain :(

  • the HP is Super Cool - ..and true multi-tasking is Essential..

  • Hp Touchpad FTW!

  • Bullshit! The Ipad 2 is much better

  • How can you say something like the iPad 2 dock only holds 4 apps? Really? And you say you have used it? Unbelievable! This review is cursory at best.

  • I bought the hp tablet for my fiancee and she loves it. she uses internet most and this is alot closer to a computer and with the fire sale its alot cheaper then one too. should have bough two, but it's a great system and if it weren't for the apps they would have won the tablet war lol.

  • CAN I DOWNLOAD PDF FILES ON THE HP TOUCH PAD

  • @shanineo

yes you can they have adobe reader app on the hp tablet

  • I really like the fact that you can listen to youtube music while you're browsing on the Touchpad, I miss that on my Xoom. I do that often on my laptop.

I'm glad I ordered a 32GB Touchpad for 129 euro :) webOS looks so much nicer than iOS and Android, so sad it didn't sell well until the fire sale.

  • @icecreammm2 Yeah it is a shame. It's a great OS.

  • I agree with you 100%. I love the Ipad. It doesnt make me think I have to use the laptop. You analyzed this very well. I am trying to buy one for my sister. Do you know anywhere that is selling it for the sale price?

  • I like the way you analyzed.~

  • great video !! I have an iPad 2 for months and with the firesale I also bought the HP TouchPad, it is really good and I agree with you, I use it much more than my iPad 2 !

  • Thanks for the video. You did a great job. Somehow, I agree with your conclusion.

My Touchpad is being shipped. I can't wait to play around with it.

  • @qntube Thanks for watching.

  • you can listen to youtube on ipad 2 when your doing somthing else.. like on facebook you go to the youtube link on the homscreen and the n-you pick something and go back to the homescreen and then the song stop then you need to push 2 on the homescreen botton and the slide to left and then you press play and the you can go to facebook and something like that and play some games like angry birds,,,,,,, i would pick an ipad 2

  • You can add a 5th app to the iPad's dock.

  • Hi, TechHarvest,

HP Touchpad seems having a dark display in relation to iPad 2. Can you verificate this or have you just set the brightness to such a level?

    Thanks and all the best

  • @werdergewinnt The screen brightness on both tablets is set to default which is approximately 50%.

  • @TechHarvest

now i'm not 100 % sure, but pretty positive that not only is it 50% on the hp touchpad. it also has autobrightness, so it might say 50% but might run at a lower brightness because of that setting.

  • Great video, very informative (all 3 parts). I was surprised by your end choice, but definitely agree with the analysis. Thanks!

  • @maxoct97 I'm glad you liked the vids. Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback.

  • does it matter, u decide. hmmmmmm i decided to eat ice-cream like an idiot

  • the hp just droped to $99 for the 16 gig so it wins in the price hand down bet tablet for your money

  • Where's test of music, pictures, video player? 30min of browser test, wow... Not great.

  • hp touchpad

  • touch pads are 100$ now.... true or not dont know its all over on rumors

  • Was your screen on the touchpad dimmed or was that it's natural brightness in comparison to the ipad?

  • I got my hp touchpad for $99 so forget the ipad 2 and 3 lol

  • I have an ipad 2, i adore the thing.

Plus there is an update coming up that will overhaul the specs.

Sorry to hear the HP tablet got smashed. Guess we know who won that one.. :[ Its too bad, hope to see more from HP soon.

  • Thanks for the review. This helps me to start using my new touchpad which I paid 99 for :)

  • @AERIALSSYSTEM Yes you can with the new 3.0.2 update.

  • BARNES AND NOBLE WEB SITE GO NOW 99 DOLLARS WHILE IT LASTS

  • @carltheman666 is there any other site? that one also sold out

  • Touchpads are a nobrainer selling at $99 (16GB) right now.

  • @Bireno where can i get it at $99?

  • @cambowati barnes and nobles online stores seems to be the only one still holding them for about 100 bux so i would go there asap before they lay the same fate as amazon and bestbuys website (sold out)

  • @xindoboyvanderx well it's out of stock every where...that's sad :(...thanks btw

  • If you had iOS 5 the iPad might have done a little better. Exempt for multitasking. The iPad is also simple for people who don't know what there doing.

  • you can change the background wallpaper in the hp touchpad?

  • ipad is alive because of the app store, otherwise iOS interface is outdated compared to webos. Too bad Apple has no plans on overhauling iOS.

  • What about the mini USB? Is it possible for me to connect it with an adapter and use my USB stick on the HP pad? I mean, that would be fckn great. :D

  • I just got one for 99 bucks and its VERY nice I cannot believe that HP is discontinuing this, I just love the UI.

  • bit.ly/ HPtouchpadipks

new installous for the hp touchpad (take the space out of it)

  • bit.ly/ HPtouchpadipks

new installous for the hp touchpad

  • haha im gettin hp

  • you decide

  • @cringletube no you decide.... ;-0

  • Thanks for all the reviews, they are always very helpful

  • touchpad's video capabilities just nails it as the winner for me apart from the multi-tasking bit. This is a beast machine! get it...i just got 2 (32gb) for $150 each.

  • Comment removed

  • Great videos, to bad touchpad got scraped yesterday. WebOS will be discontinued probably effective now so developers will not invest time into creating or porting their apps to webOS, also there will be no updates to webOS so your stuck with what you got. I will be getting a touchpad cause it's going on sale for $100 for the 16 gig model. (for my 5yo son).

  • that angry birds easter egg would piss me off

  • Hp Just gave us employe at bestbuy hp touchpad 16gb for 130$ and 180$ for 32gb SICK!!!!

  • @Alexmagic1000 Very nice.

  • @Alexmagic1000 yah my dad got me one 32 gb from work cool

    HP RULES

  • @Alexmagic1000

Embarrasing... HP just gave me 2 16gb for $180. LOL

  • @GAME1515 hahaha I had a same offre at work but I return it :P

  • @Alexmagic1000 wow you totally got jipped by them. :P jk not by much but that was smart of them

  • @legosk8er92 Not when it was full price but i got a refund and the 16Gb cost me 67$

  • @Alexmagic1000 aw thats actually pretty awesome then! unfortunately i didnt get one in the fire sale. I hate people who bvought extra to resell. cause now tons of others like me didnt get one.

  • @Alexmagic1000 Good for you,I just got mine at $99 without being employee.Hope you can get refund.

  • @Alexmagic1000 We got ours in South Texas for $99 16 and $150 32gb :)

  • @vitohino82 Sick I Got mine at Bestbuy Here In Montreal,Canada Only 3,177 km Aways from your hometown lol

  • I personally dont think one is better than the other one, i just think that there is different things for diffrent people. It just depends on what you need and/or you want. I think it all come to people needs and we all have diffrent needs.

  • hp touchpad: 3 + 5 + 2 = 10

    apple ipad 2: 2 + 1 + 0 = 3

    HP Touchpad wins by seven!

  • I think the touchpad doesn't have a usb port, right?

And it is a pitty the touchpad only has a frontfacing camera..

Anyway... I am in love with webOS and i have an aversion for apple..

I would definitely decide on the HP touchpad! Love it!

By the way.. great review.. but I don't like the "Does that matter?up to u" thing..

I think a comparison has to be objective but you can say which one is better, I'll always have my own opinion :)

    Thanks very much! :))

  • @DanceElo The TouchPad has a mini USB port at the bottom of the device. It's its main source of connectivity. As for the "Does it matter, you decide", you're not alone. That's why I toned it down in the HP TouchPad vs Motorola XOOM comparison. Thanks for watching.

  • Hey, just pointing out.. The iPad can play a YouTube video in the background.. It can also play various other apps in the background. When your playing a YouTube video and minimize out of it, your media player I'm the multitasking bar takes over YouTube controls therefore allowing you to listennand do whatever at the same time.

  • LAG on touchpad. damn.

  • You do very good reviews. Thanks. The Touchpad just got it's 3.02 update and performance has significantly improved. I know that this might be redundant, but wouldn't it be logical to do another comparison NOW between the iPad2 OS 4.3 versus the more matured Touchpad 3.02?

  • thx for finally finding a reciew that matches my own experiences with the touchpad - using it in an en ironment where everybody is using iPads. One remark to the apps: i find it very impressive what HP is doing in this field and how fast the app-catalog is growing with every day now.

  • These are the most objective and balance comparison on you tube. The 'trilogy' gives fair and rational comparisons unlike the rest of you-tube comparisons of the 2 tablets. Very informative and a great job!

BTW, will the WebOS supports Java runtime so that I can use some site which requires JAVA to draw graphs?

  • @amosko04 Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching. As for Java runtime, I'll have to look into that one.

  • i think touchpad is my tablet

  • does the touchpad have screen lock option like the ipad 2

  • @MultiAndy101 Yes, it's software based though. There isn't a switch for it.

  • I viewed these videos because I am in the market for a tablet. I have a brand loyalty to HP and wanted to know how the TouchPad was different from the iPad, which appears to be the industry standard even after the introduction of the Xoom and Galaxy Tab. I appreciate your feature by feature comparison of the two, and concur with your assessment.

  • @vaughanbarr01 I'm glad you liked the comparison. Thanks for watching!

  • Excellent review, you nailed it. I too, was an iPad2 user that went Touchpad. Touchpad just has way too many intuitive features. It's really sad that there are a lot of poor reviews coming from writers than don't understand how to utilize the features. GREAT LINE @ 12:10 " The user interface, brilliant card metaphor, and the multitasking, more than make up for all the Touchpad's shortcomings."

  • Great comparison. Thanks for the video, it really helps me make up my mind about purchasing a tablet. :)

  • Web OS is a no go for me. I like applications and some of my applications lean heavily on pinch to zoom. For example, in sketchbook Pro I an endlessly zooming in and out. Also the lagging is huge issue.

  • Just Type with (Quick Actions) is were the comparisons aren't even close. Search your device, emails, contacts apps and then apply an action to your search with many choices built into this feature. The Angry Birds Easter Egg is fun :)

I am all about the User Experience. The UI and True Multitasking with the TP is what sells me. I do own a iPad 2 with Multi gestures enabled but it just doesn't feel as natural in how I interact with the device. Very good review. Thanks for sharing!

  • @ariker01 Thanks for your input and thanks for watching.

  • i have the ipad 2 and i think its fantastic its is much faster and it has more apps and if the hp tablet would have had 2 cameras i would have bought that one

  • Your 3 part comparison video justified my decision to go with the TouchPad. Great Job.

  • I have the HP Touchpad and I really like it. It is very user friendly. I am so happy with my purchase.

New apps are being added all the time. Amazon kindle has been added and it is great. HP Movie Store will be coming and can't wait to get it. When I registered the new kindle app all my previous books were automatically loaded in seconds.

  • I have the HP Touchpad and I really like it. It is very user friendly. I am so happy with my purchase.

  • I really enjoyed your review and agree with you about the touchpad being the better experience. I don't like iOS and it just feels too dumbed down for me. I have an android phone but don't really want an android tablet that has the same experience as my phone. I've played with the touchpad at bestbuy several times and have always admired webos. I'm getting one this weekend and very exited about it. HP is really pushing to bring developers on board.

  • @antny1979 Thanks for the feedback. I come to a similar conclusion in part 4 of my TouchPad vs XOOM series. Enjoy your TouchPad and thanks for watching!

  • Great review.. overall for me HP TOUCHPAD!!

  • native Linux wins again!

  • great video Techharvest. ( clever youtube name i might add). I suppose if i ever did anything with my youtube channel. it may have to involve much about Philosophies of many things. tech, morality, religion, historical, hell im not sure. my name literally translates to " the fusion of time". so I have my creative work cut out for me. Cheers

  • @chronofusion Thanks for watching. I enjoy getting the feedback & your opinions.

  • for now. overall hp touchpad FOR ME wins this by 9 points to 7 points. However, When Lion comes out for Ipad2, imac, macbook pro, macbook air, ( i forgot the rest offhand), well , Expose', Mission Control and the gestures that make those easily workable out of the box, as well as the other features...ipad2 will take a 15 to 9 point lead. I play guitar sometimes but I can't read or write musical notation. However, with garageband. shieeeeettt :D. possibilities bud. Mac MAIL on LION. :D

  • Oops autocorrect Xoom

  • the zoom destroys those tablets

  • Are u going to Compare The Hp to the Xoom?

  • @TheNolifer99 Yes. You should see those vies within a week.

  • You completely nailed it at 12:32 where you say you've been there, done that, you want something new, sometihing exciting, something different.

I can't wait to get my hands on this when it comes out in the UK.

  • But I like points systems,..

  • Finally! A descent comparison! The 'You decides' got a bit annoying, but I think it's a better idea than the point system... This was the best comparison I have found, but you did miss a lot of things one can do over the other. You did a great job comparing what they both do, but missed what they are unique with....such as folders on the iPad and synergy, the just type API ( it's not just about search ), and the webOS phone tethering on the TouchPad....all in all, very well done and thank you!
