  • I can see this being a movie. :3

  • I am so devasted that ITH is leaving Broadway!! :( So soooo sooo sad.... I thought it was gonna have a run like Wicked or something, I saw this lasting 5 more years!! :(

  • I bet this is something what the movie sets gonna look like... <3 ICANTEVENWAIT. :D

  • @westsidestory97 but they're not hiring very good actors... I mean I like them and all but I wish it was the OBC.... ):

  • Did those kids just rob the Piragua Guy? Now I want a piragua.

  • BRING 'IN THE HEIGHTS' TO AUSTRALIA!

  • @wednesdayschild91 YES YES YES I would love that sooo much

  • @wednesdayschild91 It's not gonna happen.

  • lol they made that commercial in my block..i hated that day you couldnt cross the streets so me and my friends we were passing by throught the back and they had to keep filming and that fire hydrant is fake

  • Is it true they are making a movie of ITH?

  • @rinna81 I hope they do. I hope it looks like this

  • They should be opening Production Offices here in NYC in May sometime. Filming should start sometime in July

  • rinna, Yes! Production should start around late July early August

  • The show used to be a couple of blocks away from Broadway. Thats where I saw it.

  • The local NY TV stations play the commercial often as well. It mostly plays during the morning talk shows.

  • Ok if this was on tv, what channel? Is there like a special broadway channel or something?

  • They usually play commercials for Broadway shows in the New York Tri-State area.

  • ah! i saw this last week ... and Its the first time I want to see the show AGAIN! yes! it's that GOOD!!!

  • I wanna see this so bad damnit!!!!! I can't wait until it comes to California :-)

  • fantastic musical

  • I saw it last month! BEST MUSICAL EVER

  • It looks like a commerial for Pepsi, not a musical lol

  • haha spot on. why on earth didn't they use clips from the actual press reels? lol

  • Because they're not selling just to normal theater people. they're selling to people that buy pepsi

  • i want to seeeeee it again soooooooo badly its the most amazing play in the whole wide world

  • I can't wait till it comes on tour!

  • This is the best musical ever.

  • hmm, the musical is epic, but this commercial is well, its ok i guess, it's not like bad, its just not as good as it could be... :/

  • agreed, its decent but it doesnt live up to what the musical actually is

  • exactly! :)

  • best musical ever

  • actually no, it's not about gangs or anything -- it's the story of some people in the heights and their struggle to get by

  • ahh ok...cool :]

  • It's one thing to suppose something based upon the title, but it's another to make your assumption sound rude.

  • ...oOok..?.

  • Saw it last week. Blew me away.

  • going to see this play in august. looks soo good !! can't wait .

  • I wish that I could have seen Lin-Manuel as Usnavi! But Javier Munoz was fantastic as well. I went in April...if you are ever in New York, GO! It's really spectacular.

  • OH MY GOD I LOVED THIS MUSICAL! I saw it back in december it was so amazing! whent it was over I just wanted to see it again! it was funny, sad, and sooo energetic

  • Goosebumps!

  • Were singing a medley of this in music class and its going to be really good if we can find a good rapper. I really want to see it, but I havent gotten te chance to.

  • this had a davide lachapelle feel to it! the commercial! i like it

  • whats that guys name in the yellow at 0:15?

  • Guy in the middle in the yellow doing the breakdancing is Seth Stewart. Guy in the yellow on the right is Luis Salgado.

  • I dunno why...but this musical doesn't make me extremely excited.

RENT did!!! Rediculously so! Spring Awakening (which I saw in London last night) also made me reeeally hyper...

This looks more like a music video advert, which I dislike intensely lol.

But yeh, it may be great...So what do all you fans think about it? Like genuinely, high and lowpoints...what are the messages and why are they so great?

Would be cool to hear why it's been so well-recieved in America :)

  • I saw it in New York last summer, and honestly, it has so much energy and passion and heart! You just wanted to get up and dance! I laughed so hard and I shed a few tears too. You can tell that the people who did it were putting all of themselves into it. It's such a celebration of culture and art. It deserved every award that it received.

  • Erm...why? Sorry are we not allowed opinions anymore? I wasn't even insulting or disrespectful...in fact I asked for fans opinions to make a more informed decision.

But if the musical attracts people like you...not sure I wanna hear em.

PERMISSION TO SPEAK SIR YES SIR!

  • LIN'S LEAVING!!!???????!!!!!!!

  • amazing. Ive seen ITH 5 times, and Im seeing it for my 6th time on feb 15 (im going to lins lat show!! wooot!) haha. everyone HAS to see this show, its deff one of the BEST shows ive ever seen!!

  • omggg, lucky. i saw it on the 14th. the late show. and i got him to sign my CD. i cried...seriously. everyone should see it.

  • In all honesty, NO ONE could play Usnavi better than Lin.

  • Lin IS usnavi. He's the soul...well, the show must go on. but I can't love any Usnavi more than Lin. ='(

  • I agree.

  • I KNO!!! LMM is one of my heroes now.

  • Wonderful commercial, but rather short...

anyhoo ive seen the play about 18 times and LOVE IT

    go see it NOW

  • holy shit 18 time, dude ur lucky and im so fuckin jealous, i havent seen this musical, i will totally love to see it, im so jealous

  • I saw it yesterday. I was completely blown away. It was an absolutely amazing fusion of many different music styles, mostly latin, and the story just felt close to home since I grew up in that kind of neighborhood. The story is amazing too and I found myself getting goosebumps more than once. I hope you get to see it! It's the one broadway show everyone HAS to see this year.

  • oh you lucky bumm! i would kill to just see it a second time.

  • this musical was amazing haha

  • Theres gonna be a movie. Universal studios bought the rights.

  • Universal has had the rights for Wicked since before it was even a musical, so just because they bought the rights doesnt mean it is coming anytime soon. Someday? Yes. Soon? Probably not.

  • They should do a movie now while they have all the original cast because it needs the same energy that has made it so successful on Broadway, plus it would be a GREAT HIT in Latin America...I can assure anyone of that...I'm from Puerto Rico and there was a long line at the movies for Evita. With this...I would imagine something even bigger!!

  • It is going to be a film, with Lin reprising his role as Usnavi =)

  • how do you know this. about lin i mean?

  • @freak7art they are! kenny ortega is directing it. he did high school musical, and also this is it with michael jackson!

  • @freak7art They're working on it! :-)

  • Lin Miranda is SOOO cute!

  • A movie would be AWESOME! If the commercial is any indication, a transition to the BIG SCREEN could be AMAZING!!! The choreography, the score would be INCREDIBLE!!

  • i agree! WANT THE MOVIE!

  • nice vid.

  • Great show, saw it for my birthday ahh.. :)

mandy gonzalez ! amazingg voice. (nina)

  • I agree guitarfreak. I don't think they will kill it if its a movie though. Rent turned out pretty nice on the big screen.

  • yes it did, I just wish it hadn't been quite os in their face, it was a little to close up for my taste, but still awsome!

  • I can only imagine when/if they turn this into a movie, if the commercial is any indication, it will transfer so well to the big screen! Oh man, I am in Chicago and I am absolutely obsessed with this musical. I NEED to see it in New York. It will be my first show EVER.

  • i saw it and loved it...and i just wanted to say if it becomes a movie, i hope they dont kill it :-( it's too good to kill

  • Simply breathtaking!

    I absolutely loved this show.

    Must see.

  • I just recently saw this show a few weeks ago, and I thought that it was just fantastic! But still, it isnt for me one of those shows that will stick with me. The Phantom of the Opera will always be my favorite

  • I'm a fan of older Broadway shows. I'd pick Sondheim over anything, if I had the choice, to the complete confusion of my theatre department. I hate shows like Legally Blonde, Mamma Mia...however...this is NOT the same as that shallow crap. This is a show with a purpose, a meaning, and it reaches to a demographic that normally would not be dragged into theatre (I should know, I'm Latina, and I have never seen so many in my community want to go to a theatre than when they heard about this show).

  • I saw the show two or three weeks ago and it was a GREAT experience. I love the songs and the work of the actors and the dancers was excelente. And about Lin Manuel, you're wondeful boy!

  • hey will someone who's seen the show and also seen shows like wicked, legally blonde, hairspray (and enjoyed them) tell me how this show compares to them? thanks!

  • I've seen wicked (on broadway) and hairspray (off broadway) and I thought that they were amazing, as was in the heights. I would definitely recommend it. Personally, I think that this show was better than wicked or hairspray.

  • Well every show is different I've seen Wicked & Legally Blonde and loved both but this show is clearly different and I think ITH is better than both but the comparison is really up to you

  • nodumbblond, omg you MUST see it ahaha.

i just got back from it about a half hour ago

its SOOO fucking worthh it lmao.

like im not kidding, you'll be blown away.

LIN MANUEL MIRANDA omg ur my idol♥

  • That didnt really showmuch about the musical. I mean if that my first time hearing it there would have been nothing to intrest me.

  • sunday in the park??? passing strange????? Are you on crack?!!?!?!?! Although I know gypsy is a good show, I would definetly not pick that over this!!!

  • What songs do they sing in this commercial?

  • "In the Heights," "96,000" and "Finale," sort of all thrown together into a new mix.

  • what is this show about? i like the music but i'm kinda confused..any help?

  • The show is about the community of the Hispanic and African- American culture in Washington Heights. It also tells about what they do, there welfare, and how they take care of each other. I know the understudy for Benny so I know a lot about it. I am not kidding by the way.

  • this was my first broadway musical.... i love it!!!!!!

  • i want to see this musical :)

  • won best musical and i soooooo know why. this music is vicious

  • They got the Tony award for best musical!!!!!!! This just shows you how impressive this musical really is.

  • There were one of the few new musicals this year that wasn't crap. Kudos for something original AND actually good.

  • Xanadu....wanted to upchuck when they performed, lol

  • omg! im so glad they won best musical, this is awesome

  • BEST MUSICAL IN THE BAG!! Next... THE WORLD!

  • They were crazy good on the Tony's tonight! Congrats to them. I can't wait to see it, even though I will have to wait a while.

  • Congratulations! Tony Award Best Musical 2008!!!

  • That was a great commercial! And by the way it is up for 13 Tonys and this by far deserves all of them!!! :D

  • Damn South Pacific beating them out....fuck that....

  • umm i don't know where you were, but 'in the heights' got best musical, which in my opinion trumps whatever else south pacific beat them in.

  • Thats what Im saying, I meant that as Fuck how much south pacific won, In the Heights got best musical so HELL YES....thanks

  • I KNOW! i could not believe that south pacific won so much, it's not that good! But at least In the Heights won Best Musical, and they deserved it :)

  • Okay, I know i commented a few days ago, but now I need to again. Im hooked, this show is amazing, incredible, the stroys just AAAH Oh God it better WIN best musical!!!

  • i saw this show omg im obsessed it was amazingg!!!!!!!

  • I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS SHOW. I never thought i could be such a fan of a show, but this show is better than i could ever possibly imagine. SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's OUSTANDING

  • to be frank I like ITH more than Wicked right now

  • It was an opinion, whats with the negatives???? After i say the wicked thing, i HEAVILY credit the show.....so can ppl please plus it again?>......I LOVE this show

  • I like several songs from this musical, just not the musical as a whole...cant compare to ones like wicked, choris line, rent, parade, les mis etc....

But its better than a lot of the crud on broadway right now...

  • I agree with everything from the last part.

Gypsy was freaking amazing! And you have the musicals that aren't brand new.

  • BEST MUSICAL FTW!!!!!

im serious,if this doesn't win the tony im going to flip out and go all anthony rapp on the tony commitee! (sorry just felt the need to say that)

  • Ha lol. Yeah i think it deserves the tony. and yeah ill go all Anthony Rapp on the tony commitee too! lol. I love Anthony Rapp too!

  • the heights is mostly dominican, dont see why they had a rican flag..

  • because in the musical they had different races like puerto rican, mexican and cuban. The guy who wrote it, who is dominican, knows what hes talkin about cuz he used to live there. i saw teh musical, hottest shit i've ever seen

  • Gotta agree re: the quality of the show. Even if you hate musicals, you've gotta check this out: it's got a heavy hip hop component that doesn't come off corny. Sh-t is hot, no doubt!

  • besides, puertorican people don't own "bodegas" anymore...dominicans are the ones who have the majority of business in latino areas.

  • The character who owns the bodega is Dominican.

  • if you want to have a commercial with a puertorican flag you should change the name of the musical and named the south bronx or the barrio were there are a lot of 'boriquas" livin' around there...you are confusing people..

  • why do you guys have a puertorican flag in the commercial? i'm from the heights and this area is 100% DOMINICAN. There no cubans nor puertorican around here, please.

  • THEY LEFT WHEN DOMICANS ARRIVE.

  • Okay, I think this is going to win the Tony. But Passing Strange will pick up a few Tonys as well.

Cry-Baby....eh. Xanadu I love but could it REALLY win? No...lol I love it though. lol

  • I think so too...dont like passing strange...xanadu sucks....cry babys just freakin odd....and Macbeth...havent checked that one out yet....

  • I wass pissed when new yourk post gave this movie only 2 nd a half stars I WAS LIKE WTF this is a solid 4 stars

  • yeah... uhh movie...

I wonder what the three words under "HEIGHTS" stand for anyways I'm sure this will get allot from its 13 nominations but if it wins all 13 thus surpassing The Producers then I will be shocked.

  • *play

  • I think all the awards are btwn it and South Pacific, Ive checked out all the other niminees, and frankly, they are not that good. Whatever happened to musicals like Wicked and Rent and Parade? Really heart pounding, fully meaningful, inspiring musicals? Theres a lot of low quality on broadway and its KILLING me!!

  • damn best show i ever saw. Im glad I saw this for my first broadway production.

  • my grandma lives near NYC so when i visited her i saw the commercial for this and screamed with delight!i want to see it sooo bad

  • i think they'll be nominated for Best Musical(obviously), Best Supporting Actress for Abuela Claudia, Best Lighting Design cause those were the sickest lights i've ever seen in a show, Best Original Score, Best Director, and Best Actor for Lin

  • Passing Strange will probably beat it for lighting, but it should win a lot!

  • yeah those lights were awesome

  • got 2 say HAWT

  • when i went to see it they were auctioning a ringtone of lin rappin for them and a dude payed 1,500 for it and i was stupified. lin-manuel is pretty hot on that mic, though i'd be expecting him to get a rap deal sometime soon, his flow is ridiculous. tony's before the rap deal though.

  • what channles has the commercial been on

  • NY1....Univision 41....and others hispanics channels..

  • I want to see it! *pouts in corner*

  • AMAZING show. just saw it on thursday. i can't wait to see it again!

and Lin WILL win a Tony

  • Excellent show, and the commercial really gives a good sense of what it's like. The music really sounds like what you hear on the streets of New York, but Lin-Manuel Miranda knows enough about theatre to make hip-hop sound truly dramatic and... well, theatrical. It works beautifully.

  • AMAZING!!! Im seeing on the 17th of this month! SO EXCITED!

  • Love this show!!!! Saw it twice at 37 Arts. Can't wait to see it on broadway. Flying from faraway Philippines just to see it on opening night.

  • are you just saying that u r going to opening night or did you actually get tickets? if you are not kidding, how did you get them?

  • umm...all i can say is that this is going to be interesting. this musical personally doesn't seem like my cup of tea, but i'd like to be interested in what everyone else thinks about it when it comes to broadway. good luck!
