  • German James May :) LOL

  • very nice sound..great playing Thomas :)

  • Man he could the hell out of that strat ;-) great playing thomas blug

  • Yes, yes and yes! What? Oh, i mean, sound, skills and feel. Its all there.

  • thumbz up if u typed "start" in search

  • @MrRabbitBlack I think you're the only one.

  • awesome tone

  • The 'Strat King' awarded for playing fuckin' MUZAK. An award for boredom!

  • mistake at 2:30 wrong inversion

  • @Billsgang

    it happens

  • that first 30 seconds made me wet my pants..!

  • I love my strat, but it just keeps saying "Shit! Not YOU again!" :)

  • Thomas Blug loves his strat, and the strat loves Thomas Blug! :)

  • Full of feeling!

  • boring, I think the only real good instrumental song is Stevie Ray's ver of little wing.

  • so goood

  • this sounds quite like Andy Timmons

  • ive never really like a single coil sound that much, a little tinny and 'weak'...but I dig this guy

  • you are the musical magician

  • blug

  • ive got a hughes and kettner amp and this makes me feel proud when i see other people with them

  • @Nakedmonkey213: They do what they're supposed to. Try playing like this on a LesPaul... Both of them have their strengths and weaknesses...

  • Jedesmal aufs neue bekomm ich ne Gänsehaut...wer hier auf "gefällt mir nicht" klickt, ist unrockbar!

  • needs more gain like all finders

  • @nakedmonkey213 ....More gain would not allow the notes to be cleanly heard as invidual notes, they would all flow into each other and this would sound confused. This is how a Fender should sound and it's just amazing.

I have a small collection of guitars and each have their strengths.

  • @nakedmonkey213 learn to spell fender then complain you dipshit

  • This is the Performance of Stratocaster guitar

  • Der Typ rockt :D

Cool, ich wünschte ich könnte so gut spielen wie der....:)

    Go on ;)!!

  • does anyone know where to learn how to play one of his songs?

  • you look like that one actor but i forgot his name

  • n echter saarländer ;) war der schüler vom meinem gitarrenlehrer (naja ich lern bei dem lehrer bass) ... unwahrscheinlich genial

  • This song sounds like something Neil Zaza would put out. Happy music.

  • Ganz große Klasse, seit langem das Beste, was ich gehört habe.

  • The german Lukather!

  • @ThePreciousguitar87

Very true, a lot of similarities. Both in technique and tone.

  • This tune has just got it all!! :)

  • 3:20 is one of the most perfectly written pieces of guitar music in history.

  • Extremly good player that combines techincal playing with some bluesrock! Kinda reminds me of Timmons..

  • wow ...

thats all i can think of while listening to this

  • Thomas Blug is a great guitar player!! Amazing!

  • this is like butchering someone to pieces

  • well said mrhardrod2

  • Amazing!!

  • So great!

    Nice greets

    Uli

  • his guitar a vintage around £350 i saw it on gear4music then watched this amazing sound tbh for the price

  • @rabitman3000 This is actually his '61 Fender strat. This video was made before he had the deal with Vintage.

  • How does his strat not go out of tune?

  • blugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblug

i can say blug all day and not get bored

    blugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblugblug

  • @mrFragaz Yur all Blug up.

  • @mrFragaz lol

  • @mrFragaz It's a pity you have to limit your self to 500 characters. ;)

  • What a nice guitar! He has such a nice sound!

  • congratulations strat king of europe, i am strat king of 500 suare feet of living space lol

  • I really like this guy's playing. And I wasn't sure I would, but he is melodic and really means business.

  • 17 people blow goats \\m//

  • This guy sponsored my Zentera! Best amp in the world!

  • ahhhh---sweet stuff, friend!

the 16 dumb asses who went "thumbs down" with this cant play for crap. GUARANTEED!

  • ahhhh---sweet stuff, friend!

  • I thought it was good. I play too, theres some good tasty stuff I dug...I liked it!

  • This is just for guitarists... boooooooring!!! I prefer to listen to John Frusciante, SRV, Clapton, Jeff Beck, Richie Blackmore, Eric Johson, Ronnie Earl, John Mayer, Matt Schofield... people who make MUSIC. There are tons of guitarits like this everywhere, who just make music to show their skills, satisfy their egos and justify all the practiced time. When would guitarists take a step further and be MUSICIANS?

  • @JusticieroDeLaMuerte How can you say this is not music???!! That is such a stupid statement. This is too music!

  • @100grapes Of course is music, but it's like thounsands of guitarists that just concentrate on their skills rather than being creative and using their skills as a way to do something different. I don't like shreders, but there you have Steve Morse, Eric Johnson, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Vai... guys who have amazing skills but they also are really creative and innovative. This guy (Thomas Blug) is not doing anything new. In my opinion he relies too much on his guitar skills.

  • @JusticieroDeLaMuerte I thought it sounded ok...nothing great, but he did have some nice melody...for you hating on him..you look childish...meanwhile he still got paid for his talent...your sitting at the computer commenting...makes me wanna get out and practice...but as manymmusicians find out...its harder to get the band to show up sometimes

  • @CommBreakDown I didn't say that I hate him. I don't. He seems to be a nice guy, and hard-worker too. He is also a very good guitarist, with a lot of technique and skills.

  • @JusticieroDeLaMuerte Don't forget that this video is rather new, maybe from 2007. Tell me: What did Steve Vai, Steve Morse or Joe Bonnamassa create in 2007, that you can call innovative? Maybe I missed the recordings you are refering to. Otherwise, your reasoning does not make sense. Hats off to what the famous guitarists created/innovated in former days. Hats off to another great player named Thomas Blug. : )

  • @freak4frets Tell me: what did Hendrix create since 1970 that you can call innovative?

  • @JusticieroDeLaMuerte: Hendrix started the whole thing... and was the main Guitar pioneer. You nor any Guitarist today in the world can ignore that fact.

It seems to be todays fasion to put down what Hendrix did for the Guitar, usually by people who can't play an instrument or bigheads with limited talent...

  • @seanbl1 I was ironic, 'cause you said "Tell me: What did Steve Vai, Steve Morse or Joe Bonnamassa create in 2007, that you can call innovative?". It's like saying Mozart wasn't creative.

  • @JusticieroDeLaMuerte: There's a difference between being creative and being a pioneer at something... All Musicians you have mentioned are creative inculding they guy above, Mozart and Hendrix etc, etc... There is a difference you know!!

  • @seanbl1 Forget it, man. You don't get what I'm saying. Have a nice day. Cheers!

  • @JusticieroDeLaMuerte: Hmm... maybe I don't, not to worry... Take care man!!

  • @JusticieroDeLaMuerte dude listen to his track leave of absence and then tell me again that he just plays to show his skills but i think there are many shred players who put a ton of emotions in their playing check out vinnie moore if you don't know him ( daydream for example ) and the statement that this is no music or that tomas blug makes is no real musician is a very stupid one , have a nice day ;)

  • Thomas hat sich die Strat-King Auszeichnung verdient! Aber wie!

  • The sad thing is because this takes such a long time to perfect a style like Thomas Blug's (in my opinion one of the best in the world at the moment) and shredding is really an "easier way to sound good" in my opinion, you just have an immense loads of guitarists that shred their fingers off instead of perfecting a real style like Blug's. Stick with it people, I would love to see more guitarists like this coming up then the next era of a million Yngwie Malmsteem inmpersonators.

  • that's what proper technique and proper improvisation is. Not bullshit shredding all the time which makes no sense. This is what real guitar wizardry is all about. Nicely done. BRAVO!!!!! 10 stars for sure.

  • @MrHardrod2 damn right!! too many mindless shredders out there.

  • @MrHardrod2 there is NO proper anything when it comes to what he is doing its just plain good guitar and soul.. Proper belongs with the classical world... this motherfucker can just plane PLAY THE GUITAR like a filipina whore in heat.. love this guy..

  • @Dontmakemeshit He's good. It's just a polite way of putting it that he is really playing his guitar. No sense arguing. Proper or what, he is that good. You know how british people analyze everything and have that expression "proper" whatever it is. As if it is the standards of British excellence that is to be matched and attained.

  • @MrHardrod2 not arguing but your right maybe a terminology thing

  • Manchmal hab ich das Gefühl, dass es fast nur dumme Menschen gibt. Ich sag da jetzt auch nichts mehr zu, da es sowieso nichts dran ändert.

    Thomas, du bist super!

  • Gorgeous guitar playing from a really nice guy! Met him couple of times at guitar shows, did a personal one to one gig for me and a friend, amazing!!

  • Really Awesome Guitar Playing On The Fender Strat!!! A Huge Thumbs Up!! Keep Up The Great Job, My Friend!! Rock On, Bro!!

    - BigWillieWillHom :)

  • @theguitarking55 shredding and fast playing does not determine a guitar players prowess. Thomas' playing is pretty good anyway, but what you also should consider is tone and technique. His finesse at multitude of perfected techniques as well as his ability to create versatile sounds using only controls of the strat make him stand out.

  • where can i buy his songs or download them

  • I find it rather sad to see that a superb performance from an exceptionally gifted guitarist such as Thomas Blug has attracted so many purile/infantile/derogatory comments from certain posters on this thread over the past couple of weeks!

  • @M147GTA agree with u mate

  • its easy guitar riffs...tht makes him the strat king .....-_- give me a brake anyone can play tht

  • @theguitarking55 What a looser you are ...

  • @theguitarking55 Poor looser ...

  • Comment removed

  • @theguitarking55 Bet he could smoke you. Eat a dick you Fag.

  • @theguitarking55 haha you make me laugh sir , I find your theory on his guitar playing very interesting . This man is the strat master in my mind . I know nothing gets better then a 60;s strat but damn he makes it so versitile , and look at all that tasty guitar playing. Your not even a footnote on this guys ass . And to the rest of the respectful strat players continue you on .

  • that could be so many guitar sounds, not so strat to me

  • super geiler gitarrist und noch dazu ein netter kerl, durft ihn mal persönlich kennen lernen :)

  • a GERMAN who is good at something!!!

  • @TheLedGuitarist oh really? its not like michael schuhmacher, einstein, wolfgang a. mozart , boris becker, oliver kahn etc were good at something, huh?! to name a few

  • @guitar789 oh god yeah, and hitler to that list

  • @TheLedGuitarist shut the fuck up, were not living in 1940 anymore and germans are NO nazis

  • @master1sa go fuck yourself

  • @TheLedGuitarist tzz, if your brain is peanuts thats your problem, not mine

  • @master1sa i am actually more intelligent than you, because i have 4 phds. so chew on that you horrible fucking twat

  • @TheLedGuitarist you have an awfully professional vocabulary for someone with 4 PHDS......

  • @TheLedGuitarist knowledge isn't intelligence. but you know that.

  • @TheLedGuitarist Best quality is from Germany ;)

  • This has to be one of the greatest guitar performances aver caught on camera.

My most watched video on YouTube be far.

  • how the hell I never heard of this amazing guy?

  • fucking stella!

  • amazing, shit ending :D

  • I've never seen this guy before really cool playing.

  • i'd love to see someone cover this :P

  • He sure is slick with the pickup switch. Nice stuff!

  • his track 'longing' is one of the best Ive heard in a very long time.

  • So damn good. I'm still trying to figure out how to get this sound via my 100w switchblade amp.

I so want to learn this song!!!

  • @liquidSpin That can be difficult. He got original PUs from the 60s in his Strat and a Dummy Coil, made by Kloppmann Electrics, in the middle. Also he uses the Tube Factor by Hughes & Kettner.

The new signature guitar from Thomas gets close. For a price under € 500,00 an unbelievable guitar. Check it out.

  • Damm he is good!

  • auswendig ohne fehler...thomas du hast talent

  • Strat king..? Oh, i thought it was SRV and Hendrix, sorry... ^^

  • @dumbletone yes they were, and they will always be the kings of history since they both passed away, but in terms of present Thomas Burg is probably one of the best strat players currently.

  • @alsgh422 *Blug, not burg. my mistake

  • Klasse gespielt. Und zeigt sehr schön, das mit der Strat nicht nur Vintage Zeug geht. Rock on :-)

  • super thomas !!

  • No, but it looks like it is in this vid.

  • If ppl don't like good ol strats, it's because those ppl can't do shit without 5 distortion peddals and a fucking computer. The only ppl who can sound good with a strat and a good ol marshall amp, are people who can actually play the art of guitar, well. All there is to it man.

  • this is headshot for me....:)

  • let her cry ,amazing sounds ,funky bluesy ,fusion rock ......

  • he's not the Strat King...

    he's god

  • The lick at 0:20

    *---------*

  • The bridge and neck pickups are stock '61 Strat pickups. The middle pickup is the Kloppmann. Visit his official website.

  • what a wanker =|

  • Right on, bro.

  • Hi, ich bin hier durch den Guitar- Wettbewerb gelandet.

Und was ich gerade gesehen habe war schon unglaublich geil :)))))))))

Ist sehr leidenschaftlich und technisch absolut der Hammer!!!!!

  • what pickups is he using?

  • they look stock. it's not what you have, it's how you use it. rock on! :)

  • believe me they are not stock, these are custom made around 700 bucks

  • $700!?!?!? WTF! WOW! Who makes them? btw, thanks for the heads up...

  • i remember reading it somewhere, i think it's an unknown luthier in europe. but he does have his own line of guitar now. not by fender though.

  • Yea I think vintage do a signature copy with the noise cancelling pups im sure i seen a vid of him and trev wilkinson talkin bout it somewhere mebbe on the vintage site. Vintage is a budget brand but with the wilkinson hardware they punch above their weight. I have a les paul copy by them and i think its way better than anything else for the money.

  • yeah that's the one. wilkinson was the luthier

  • @vainparasite vintage do a copy of this guitar I have one it is not noise cancelling it has a bukka switch which helps reduce some hum but it is a fantastic guitar plays lovely and the sound is just great

  • They are made by Kloppmann and they are awesome. Best strat pickups I know. They're expensive because of the bad exchange rate.

The coolest thing is that if you record your strat acoustically and send it to kloppmann, he will do a frequency analysis and voice your pickups for the resonance of your guitar. No upcharge!

  • see my reply

  • Very nice!

Really want to see a duet between him and Neil Zaza.

  • Beauitifully expressive!!

  • this guy is right up there with the best

  • Oh, absolutely beautiful playing! Seems to be no separating between you and that Strat...you are ONE. Thanks for this gorgeous video...it made my day to hear you.

    All the best,

    Joy/the Leopard Lounge

  • Proper guitar playing!!!!!... much better than all that shredding shit which infests this site.... sounds a bit like Blackmore i places.... Nice!!!!

  • @LivewireTown All though the intro was kind of sloppy..

  • he can play high gain sounds with the original strat pickups. i dunno the trick

  • kotdrauf:

ive always found that single coil or low output pickups sound better through hi-gain settings. well maybe not better but more distinct. active pickups tend to be a bit on the harder side and muddy side of things. mid range or standard humbuckers have the best of both worlds really, turned down the humbuckers can have a similar effect as single coils with high gain amps.

  • This guy is phenomenal. The secret to keeping the stock whammy in tune is lubrication of all points of contact between the string and the guitar. The bridge, nut grooves and string tree. I have a 2007 MIM and a 60's Road Worn and since I was taught the lube thing, I want nothing to do with a Floyd or Edge whammy. Just a thought....

  • He does a better version of this on one of the Guitarist Dvds that came with the magazine, i'll try and get it uploaded soon

  • In my opinion this one is much better

  • that tone is simply amazing

  • Wow.....!!! Simply amazing. I wonder how he keeps that strat in tune when using the stock whammy bar.

  • i dont think it matters as much when youre just playing lead guitar cause you can bend notes and use vibrato to make it sound in tune....but who knows i may be wrong

  • 5 springs! we talked to each other at Musikmesse Frankfurt...

  • I have an Anderson with 3 springs and it can take the same abuse. I think it really depends on how well you setup your Strat.

  • right!

  • He keeps switching between neck and bridge in matter of seconds. I wonder if it's on purpose, doesn't look like it. But then again he's a professional who knows what he's doing thats for sure.

  • He does do it on purpose ;)

he talks about it in the interview that was part of this full video

  • germany are such a good band too

  • germany is a country .___.

  • your joking?

  • not at all

  • you are

  • ask google

  • WTF?haha

  • Scalped Fretboard?

    Looks scalped.

  • No not SCALLOPED...just worn down by years of playing.

  • Aaaah, yeah that seems accurate. I was actually wondering if it was scalloped too. But it definitely doesn't sound scalloped.

  • Fucking A-mazin!

GOT to be one of the best strat players ever!

  • 0:27 through 0:30 kinda Sounds like law and order

  • Jesus Christ, Ive only just discovered this guy toady, but he's amazing. The tone, dynamics, the crazy skills, it's a thing of bueaty. Guitar and music are the reasons I get out of bed in the morning. And I can see Thomas Blug's playing becoming an improtant part of my life.

  • amazing...the player, the guitar, the TriAmp MkII

    I LOVE IT!!!5stars

  • Heard this guy on a Music Convention last year playing over a H&K Statesman Combo. A totally different Amp Design as the Triamp.

The Sound was nearly the same..

    This guy just rocks!

  • Great Tones !

  • E' veramente il guitar player migliore in europa

  • falar o que ?.......simplesmente matou a pau...magnifico
