I think if they had shown any footage of the film they'd never have got anyone into the theatre - it's basically Newley screaming "LOOK AT ME, I'M IMPORTANT!" for just under two hours before collapsing into his own ego like a star falling into a black hole.
I have two different versions of this movie. The only different between the two edits is that one shows a close-up as Milton Berle pours blood on a girl's breat, while the other, better quality version omits this one shot. But both versions I have are missing an important song from the soundtrack. . .OH WHAT A SON OF A BITCH I AM.
I've had the LP soundtrack for this film for years--love Anthony Newley's songs and the description of the "plot" is hilarious--but I've never seen the film itself...Anyone know where I can get a copy?

This trailer seems like a parody of a trailer for a grossly self-indulgent star vehicle.

At least Ken Russell is good for a few laughs.

Yeah, because when I think "ribald epic with satiric barbs", I think "narrator from Bullwinkle". Don't we all?

I don't know who the guy doing the voice-over for this trailer is, but he sure doesn't sound anything like William Conrad.
