Here in Ireland we don't call the Irish language "Gaelic" because "Gaelic" is the name of the LANGUAGE FAMILY which includes Irish, Scots and Manx. Which are all different languages. It's like calling English "Germanic". It sounds odd... to us anyway.

The Scots are by far and large Caledonian Pictish, meaning anybody born in Scotland with any degree of Scots kin is of Caledonian Pict, ALBA - Scotland's real name (and still used in Scots -Gáidhlig to this day) is a Pictish name.

What I like, as a Cornish Woman, is that we haven't been totally destroyed by the English dominant culture. For the Cornish though, it's a crises situation. What I don't like,is the way my Celtic brothers and sisters are arguing here. You still have something worth preserving. Put your energies into supporting each other in a positive way. Be real about this too - the pre English people, our ancestors, were mixed with Romans and other traders. We are a cultural not ethnic group.

As for Northern Ireland, the majority of the people living there came from Scotland (Celtic) and England (Anglo)...some also from Wales. Therefore Northern Ireland should be shown on the list.

@spr65 Seriously ....There was no England before the Adventus Saxonum in the mid 5th century,just Romano Brythons after the Romans left, fueding in tribal lands.The English came from Engel (Angeln) in modern Denmark and gave their name to the land the won.They were confederates of the Saxons and Jutes,and they took the land between them.The 'Vikings' also came from Denmark,so did the Norsemen or Normans.
These were fought then absorbed by the indigenous English.One blood-definately not 'celt'
