I think thats Feldwebel Hienrich Bartels at 1:44 in or around Nov. of 1943 he scored 99 victories and was killed in I think Dec.44.There's a famous pic of him leaning over the white tail of his 109 G6 pointing at his 70th victory. The caption in that pic said red 13 but to me it looks more like brown 13 thanks to this incredible color photo. Good work! This shot was probably taken near Athens at Kalamaki airfield during the occupation of Greece.Although killed in 44 his body wasn't found til 68.
You're right, that's Bartels at Kalamaki airfield in Crete,he was one of the best against US fighters. From his 50 victories in the west(the other 49 were on the Eastern Front),there were 11 P-51 Mustang,9 P-47 Thunderbolt and as many as 14 P-38 Lighting(also, there were 9 Spitfires,2 Liberators,2 Beaufort and two Beaufighter on his scoreboard).American pilots only can dream with his score, they only defeated Luftwaffe using numerical superiority, nothing more.
Sorry,2 Boston and two B-25 Mitchell bombers were amongst Bartels kills and not Beaufort and Beaufighter,I mistaked him with Werner Schroer's claims.
