His captors say he was not tortured as he claimed, but perhaps even more telling are the pictures of McCain hugging his former prison guards like they're old friends.
And it's just not his captors, McCain's fellow prisoners also beleived he lied about being tortured to help excuse the confessions he signed.
If you want to compare the character, experience and patriotism of these two men, you can not disagree that McCain is the better candidate that Obama.

I went through the Navy Flight Program at about the same time as McCain & I don't recall anyone ever telling that being shot down would make me a war hero & qualified to be President.

If you actually take a look at Clarks service record as Commander of NATO forces in Europe he has an excellent service record. Every man wanted him as their commander if things went hot. He sorted the Balkans out militarily and stopped the Russians from getting a foothold. He was forced out because he challenged those clowns in washington. Clark should have responded, well, yeah, Barack doesn't have executive foreign policy experience, but neither does McCain, and the McCain campaign is trying to make it out like sitting in a hole is the same as like being an ambassador or sitting on the security council or something. And it isn't. Neither one of them has executive experience, but Obama hasn't claimed it, while McCain has (by implication, since he's a "hero.")
Heroism is admirable, but it isn't the same.

If you're talking about John Kerry, he never once, in his presidential bid nor any other political campaign, made reference to his military record unless directly questioned about it. The SwiftBoaters were discredited by the Boston Globe in 1990 and again in 1996. They re-appeared in 2004 and US Navy records proved that not one person who appeared in that ad served with him. Obama said in September 2007 and again in February 2008 that he would not set withdrawal time tables and that he would rely on the advice of field generals, unlike Bush. 16 months was the timetable he set for phased withdrawal but would proceed accordingly. let's not forget Pat Tillman. Another hero created by the media. Then we find out he was KIA by his own men. Think McFly, Think. The media has their own agenda. That's why I don't rely on one source of news. I do my own research and make my own decisions. I've read that McCain was never tortured, gave up info to the enemy, and was a bad pilot. Let's find out the real truth. What is he afraid of?

So, are you old and on your deathbed also. LOL I'd like to see the circumstances behind the 5 planes(if true). No, being shot down doesn't qualify you to be President. I think that Clark's comments were misguided. You know, Clark was not well thought of while he was in uniform. He has no room to talk on this matter, other than the fact he can say whatever he wants in this country. Can't believe I served to protect idiot speech sometimes... Oh well.

Clark is right. However, with his reaction, Obama signaled that he would silence "Straight Talk" on his camp. Vote none of the above!

Obama's defending Clark but again to be a successful politician it would be a mistake to go out and totally defend Clark like it would be a mistake to defend Carter

WTF are you talking about? He was shot down on a combat mission, beaten by a civilian mob, caputred, tortured for 5 years and you make statement like this? Are you a moron or just an idiot? The man turned down being released early so that he could stay behind with his fellow servicemen! You can't challenge this man on character, EVER, or you will lose every time!

WTF are you talking about? It's obvious that you are a sheep that believes everything you read and don't have the mental capacity to challenge things that are presented as 'factual'. Let me give you some facts: He was never beaten by a mob. He was pulled from the river by an old man that saved his life. He was never tortured (from testimonies from not only NVA soldiers, including one that spoke up last week and his fellow POWs). McCain is the biggest fraud next to Rudy Giuliani (Cont)

Gee..who do I believe, the VNA guard that has absolutely NOTHING to gain or a Senator running for president that is running on the fact that he was a war hero for being tortured? Do the math and see McCains calculations. Former POWs are speaking out against McCain just like firefighters are speaking out against Giulianni. It's time you woke up brother and smell the shit that McCain is shoveling.

No he wasn't pulled out by an old man. He was pulled out by a group of men. He was yelled at, spit on, and kicked at by the mob. He was butt stroked by an NVA soldier in the street. He was denied treatment and beaten unconcious over and over. Once he healed he was, at times, beaten again (broken ribs and arm in at least one instance). You would believe a former NVA soldier over McCain? Wow...

Yes I would....you know why? Cuz the guy has nothing to lose by telling the truth. When you are trying to figure out a crime, you ask, "Who stands the most to gain". 9 out of 10 times you find the killer that way. It's the same thing here. Who stands to gain by lying. McCain or his captor? The answer is obvious unless you have shit for brains.

You can challenge John McCain on character, goshindo, just not about his time as a POW. There's no doubt he's a military hero. He is character flawed, however, when it comes to his record as a husband and as a politician. He was censured by the US Senate for his role in the Keating Five scandal and authored campaign finance reform that made all future violators guilty of what he got away with. He is a political hypocrite and an adulterous hypocrite. His war record is off limits, I agree.

There's no doubt he's a military hero? Are you effin' nuts? I doubt everything he ever said. This week one of his former captors (who would vote for McCain if he was in the US) said he was NEVER tortured. This story has been confirmed by other POWs. Let's find out once and for all. McCain has benefited more from his 'POW status' than any man in the history of this nation so he has more to gain by laying about his status. I want the damn truth cuz I don't feel like I'm being told the truth now.
