The Amish I know spend more energy trying get around their "beliefs" and rules, than they do trying to follow them. One that I like is that rubber tires are a big no-no, unless your "business" owns the equipment - then they are ok. I know an Amish dairy operator - his daughters milk 37 Holstiens twice a dya - with machines. If you're gonna be Amish, then BE AMISH.
Americans need to take lessons off the Amish. They are not afraid to work the old way and when they have a barn raising, they just use the horses to pull up the sides, no big contractor costing thousands of dollars. Only the strong will survive when the government from both sides puts us Americans out to pasture.
WHAT A JOKE!!! they attached the machine for hay baler, and then they let horse or mules to pull them over. Why can't they use tractor instead of poor animal!
Can't truly be amish. Machines are machines regardless of whether or not they have a powerplant or not. There is no difference between what they are doing and using a tractor or a car. BOOOOO.
While we may prefer not to have an internal combustion engine, this is a practical means of making hay at about 1/3 the fuel requirements of doing it with tractors. To do it without the engine would require more horses as well.
Just think Al Gore did'nt force them to do this and the Amish don't have legislation pending to make us all live this way unlike the Libtards. they actually walk the walk.
@emperorvl No, because dependence of foreign oil is evil. The Amish actually have commonsense reasons for what they do, and one of those is avoiding dependence on outsiders. When you have to rely on someone with different beliefs, they can force you to do things that you believe are wrong, because you need what they have. Our nation would do well to follow their example.
@userunavailable3095 Amen brother, well said. Here in Japan we had the top spot but now have to out up with shite as we need too much from the outside world to survive.
Oil this is your downfall

@AnimetimeTV It's their way of life. And it's against their beliefs to use equipment that requires fuel. Try educating yourself for once.

Six-up like that, or the farm-front has got to be the most comfortable for the animal...

I'd guess that is either straw or corn fodder, not hay. The ground is plowed. But its a nice video and thanks for sharing.
