I remember this was the hardest boss for me but I do not have much trouble with him now. The Shadow Queen in the sequel is way worse then this is. This is not the hardest boss in PM1 though. Here is how you fight the hardest boss battle in the game. Door quiz. Get 3 questions wrong. The 3 goons the door summons are powerhouses that will beat the crap out of you unless you stun them somehow. 10-12 hp of damage each. Ouch.
Bowser seems more like a long final boss more than hard. if you have feeling fine then you will be safe from his poison. also pack some jelly ultras or jammin jellies/ultra shrooms for the fight, because it will be a long one.
I don't know why, but I never lost to this boss. And i've replayed this game several times. I've died on Huff.N.Puff and the Crystal King before but never Bowser. It's always drawn out though, thanks to his healing ability. But unlike most people, I love it when he does it so I can listen to this longer (That is, the game's version)

GameCube? MIDI? Well, yeah, I can say that LoZ: WW and Super Mario Sunshine uses MIDI tracks as background music... But if we say... Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door or Super Smash Bros. Melee, they don't use MIDI. Super Smash Bros. Melee uses real orchestral, I think, and PMTTYD uses keyboard presets and 8-bit sounds... Well, i dunno. Just guessed. But I know that both of the games aren't MIDI.
Well... I'm sure I'll be disliked for this: I sorta find almost all of Paper Mario's soundtracks be... mediocre of this reason: In my opinion, they sound waaaaayyy too much Midi. This song is for example, very "Midified" in my opinion. Thinking of the drums and the trumpets, or the "guitars". Also, in my opinion, some instruments are overused. Example the organ and the Sitar, I think.

Yeah, yeah. I know. But the thing is... of all N64 games I've played that includes MIDI songs, this one is the one that sounds the most like it. And that's what I don't like about it. In other words, this game's choice of Midi-instruments is to me, bad. Especially in situations with chanting. I'm rather stick to PMTTYD's songs. Way more awesomeness, way more realism, way more effects! Well, yeah, for that last thing you say, there IS a few themes I like, such as Hey You.
Oh, by the way, what you said about all themes that was on the N64, is that really true? It reminds me of F-Zero X's themes. They were not Midi at all... or were they?
@cmts38 Well, when I say MIDI I don't necessarily mean General MIDI we have built into our computer OSes. I'm thinking something more along the lines of ModPlug tracker, which is capable of using samples. If you listen to some stuff done on trackers it's very difficult to notice it's all done using notes as opposed to something like MP3. But I agree, Paper Mario does little to remove the MIDI feeling, not that I mind one bit. If it sounds good then I shouldn't complain.
I think Paper Mario is the most challenging and fun of the three paper mario games, for one you don't have SUPER GUARD like TTYD (which made it incredibly easy to win),next the bosses throughout the game were way much more powerful (like the damn Anti-guys, KP KOOPA, and that Lava Pirahna),and above all it was in the mushroom kingdom, but to be fair the others were fun too, oh but Super PM was i think the easiest because you could freely control him, although the 2nd and 3rd had great storylines
@luigi123459 i could have beated him at my 1st try too...... but iDK if it was the f***ing emulator version or the game, but when i was like bowser had 21 of HP left, an advertisment said: "an error ocurred when running graphics, you may need to restart the emulator to continue", when that appears, sometimes IDC about it, but JUST 3 or 5 seconds later that, the ENTIRE GAME with emulator included, colsed itself!!!! dammit, so now when i see it ( it appeared once agen), i closed it myself

I'm not a fan of any of the paper marios after the first. They simply didn't measure up to the originality of this one imo. I think that probably because i'm an older gamer and this came out when i was really into games. The younger audience probably obsesses over TTYD even though it's pretty much a copy of the first. @xceis I like all the Paper Mario game, but I agree that Paper Mario 64 is far and away the best. Super Paper Mario is also great, and so is The Thousand-Year Door (Which DID rip too many concepts from the original) but Paper Mario 64 had it's own ways of delivering a completely satisfying experience.
The younger audience does obsess over TTYD, just so you know. It's a highly overrated game.
idk why i do this, but everytime i have to fight a final boss of the game, i let the battle drag and use all my items. i didn't know i had to fight him again, all powered up. the only thing that helped me stay alive was smooch

i beat bowser easilly in 2 attacks using mario and goombario using super charge for jump like 4 times and charge goombario like 4 and used multibonk and power bounce
i have NEVER beat him!!! and one time i had him down to ONE FUCKING HP TOO and i only had 7 and then he caused me 9 damage and that was the end of that. DX
This is definitely a perfect representation of Bowser as the final, big bad boss of a long game. Too bad that the theme to this battle hasn't been re-used since. It'd be perfect for NewSMB's final battle themology!
That only works if you're luck and Bowser doesn't use any of his attacks that damage you and your partner both. If Goombario gets his his charge goes away.
I prefer Watt, that guranteed 5 damage is just too solid to pass up.

paper mario has a verygood soundtrack, crystal king theme and this bowser theme are the best tracks in the game. it was a great game

I'm not a fan of any of the paper marios after the first. They simply didn't measure up to the originality of this one imo. I think that probably because i'm an older gamer and this came out when i was really into games. The younger audience probably obsesses over TTYD even though it's pretty much a copy of the first. PM me if you want to argue about that. I know what i'm talking about ;)

@xceis I actually grew up with this one, and I think for different reasons, the first two are equal, while SPM almost isn't even in the discussion.

@xceis I like all the Paper Mario game, but I agree that Paper Mario 64 is far and away the best. Super Paper Mario is also great, and so is The Thousand-Year Door (Which DID rip too many concepts from the original) but Paper Mario 64 had it's own ways of delivering a completely satisfying experience.
The younger audience does obsess over TTYD, just so you know. It's a highly overrated game.

idk why i do this, but everytime i have to fight a final boss of the game, i let the battle drag and use all my items. i didn't know i had to fight him again, all powered up. the only thing that helped me stay alive was smooch

i beat bowser easilly in 2 attacks using mario and goombario using super charge for jump like 4 times and charge goombario like 4 and used multibonk and power bounce

The only bad thing about this game is you can never actually beat it.
Like, you can beat bowser... but you go right back to the last save block next time.
Other than that its the best game ever.

i have NEVER beat him!!! and one time i had him down to ONE FUCKING HP TOO and i only had 7 and then he caused me 9 damage and that was the end of that. DX

This is definitely a perfect representation of Bowser as the final, big bad boss of a long game. Too bad that the theme to this battle hasn't been re-used since. It'd be perfect for NewSMB's final battle themology!

That only works if you're luck and Bowser doesn't use any of his attacks that damage you and your partner both. If Goombario gets his his charge goes away.
I prefer Watt, that guranteed 5 damage is just too solid to pass up.
