really an amazing song, also amazing live, saw him and andy mckee supported, felt andy got a bit repetitive stull good thow, but i cld hav listined to tommy all day lol one song he didnt even touch the guitar strings !!
I have never in my life been so inspired as I am now and I've heard them all and seen them all from Page to Beck to Vai to Van Halen and everyone in between. TE is a GOD!
Wow, I love this version, I have just started learning this song, and learning the original version is pretty hard in itself. The original sounds very nice, but man...you gotta love TE's awesome improvisation! Oh yea, and his percussions, lol.
Lol, I'm just talking about Tommy's first version of the song, more "romanticised" and without the percussion...But I guess the percussion is pretty cool as well =P
someone posted this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYBTRDjYSUQ of TE back in his flat-picking electric rock guitar days with a band. Electrical or Acoustic, what an inspiration!
well get this, he played this about half way through the concert. He went on to finish the concert after 1 hr 45 minutes and then he did an additional 15 encore, so he played for 2 hours straight with no let up. The guy is amazing, and a really great guy too.
wow, I can't believe how easy he makes it look to play Mombasa. Looks like hes playing it for the 10,000th time, and i wouldn't be surprised if he was with the amount of playing he does. :P
Lets see Mel Bay Books , write that!!

how can someone be so good?
This song is great because cause its dedicated to a village named mombasa.
dvon21 4 years ago
Mombasa is actually the second largest city of Kenya: hardly a village.
