Canada had 3 seasons with a climate that dictates a DPM style would work best...Cadpat does shit in the wheat fields of the prairies,the side of a mountain or in the fall when most foilage is brown...so don't even think it blends with artic tundra....The DPM style was to replace the CF OD green,but was favoured by this current pattern by no doubt some slob in Ottawa who has never left his desk nor can do the BFT.Don't get me wrong ,it works awesum in the summer months in Borden and Pet...lmao

@50TNCSA Are you an idiot? Multicam isn't as effective as CADPAT and that's been proved already - do your research before even commenting. Multicam is a general purpose camoflague which could be useful depending on the situation but when it's a focused region like the grand mountains of Afghanistan CADPAT works a hell of a lot better!

My buddy trained with US Army troops and they did a simulation of a senario and they worked together, long story short - the Taliban mortored the shit out of the them because they SPOTTED the US Army troops, The Canadian soldiers were right under their noses and they would of never found them if the US Army didn't give our postion away. The camo got them caught!

@cantfindafkinaccount I did some research on it and you are right but that is only military grade cadpat - because cadpat can't be seen at night time because of the IR coating etc that is why it's illegal for it to be distributed to civilians however there are paintballers, airsofters and hunters that wear non-military grade cadpat camo all the time. Civilian issued cadpat. Also if you are a member of the Canadian Armed Forces you can actually buy military grade equipment on sites like CPGEAR

MARPAT was made after CADPAT, the Marine Corps loved it so much they borrowed CADPAT until they made their own, they didnt officaly adopt it. But they did use it. The only different between MARPAT and CADPAT are the colours. The Digital Pattern it self, is the same.

cadpat looks to be a great spring and summer camo and marpat is a great fall and winter camo because cadpat is mostley green and marpat is a blend of green brown and black but the cadpat is awsome when your favort color is green

It would be no use in a browner wood environment nor urban or desert so to say they are the most effective is like saying Ferrari's are the best cars in the world even when there going off road

Someone asked if this was real CADPAT, Only way to get the real uniform is to be a mamber of the Canadian Forces. Any stuff sold by stores is "GUCCI-Cam" a civilian atttempt at copying it. Real CADPAT is trademarked and illegal to be sold to army suruplus as the real stuff has an IR coating to attempt to make the wearing harder to seen by electronic equipment. So unlikely any stuff on the shelves is "Real". There was some stuff sold by CF members at one time but that was caught.

Take a look at the US marines choice of CAMO which is called MARPAT btw..and is CADPAT-AR inspired.

I'm the USMC, and I happen to think MARPAT is the best. The coyoto brown in the woodland version really helps to blend in with areas that aren't ultra forrested, without sticking out in vegetated areas. The desert MARPAT could use some clumps of green in it though, much like the German flectarn. That said, I think CADPAT is a great camo.

Flecktarn just has that Boba Fett nasty cool look to it.
