The matter is irrelevant here, of course, as this is clearly jazz, just not swing (a la Ellington or Goodman); it's closer in style to the 1920s.

It's just forgotten today, just like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber will be 70 years from now. Look up the Billboard charts from the 60s and 70s. You'll find a lot of crappy pop songs were chart toppers, but are all but forgotten today. Your local classic rock station would never dream of playing much of it. They cherry pick the good stuff, and ignore the garbage from that era.
