@RRRRapify Well i always recommend watching everything prior to a movie or season. I'm not a specialist on Sakura Wars, but there are 2 OVAs and a TV series before the movie (everything else is posterior and shouldn't matter much to understand the movie).

Btw the OVAs are Sakura Wars:Ouka Kenran and Sakura Wars:Gouka Kenran

@MadVinylist actually this song was a collaboration with Yoko Kanno. Steve Conte has done several such collaborations and this is one of them. it is true that the singer is steve conte but the lyrics were done by Yoko Kanno, if i remember what i read on the song when i was looking it up..

@Kagebushin01 Yeah, this is the Animes we're talking about, not the mangas. Ah My Goddess debuted in 1993, 3x3 Eyes in 1991 and Sailor Moon in 1992 (japanese dates). You were correct about Patlabor tough, altough the clips i used here were from the movies released later in the 90's, the very 1st Patlabor OVAs and TV series date from 1988.

Also, lol, i'm the same, haven't finished 3x3 Eyes, stalled on the Seima Densetsu OVAs :<

That sequence of the "Astronaut" with the smoke on the helmet is from a small collection of 3 amazing half-hour OVAs. That collection was released by the name of "MEMORIES" and each OVA was made by a different genious of the Manga/Anime culture. Names such as Katsushiro Otomo (Akira, Steamboy) and Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue, Tokyo Grandfathers, Millenium Actress) and Yoko Kanno (for the 1st OVA's OST are proof enough for everyone to check out "MEMORIES".

90's anime were the best. They were original and gave you a sense that you were witnessing something amazing.

Now in days its not an art and the storytelling are not great and the animations are done with high tech computer software so you can't distinguish one artform from another.

that scene is from "X" the movie (also known as "X - 1999" i think... its greatly animated, but i personally think the series are far superior in depth story and character development. In the movie u can find fast paced script, almost only night scenes and only 1 or 2 scenes with characters that dont belong to the main cast lol
