@phazttraxx1980 your probably thinking of suzuka from outlaw star, the character he is looking at is Orphen (real name Krylancelo Finrandi) from the anime series i stated earlier.
@RRRRapify1:17 = Daiguard 1:43 = Street Fighter Alpha (or Zero in japanese) 2:32 = Patlabor the Movie (the 1st or 2nd, i'm not sure but they're equally as good) 3:03 = Macross Zero
@RRRRapify Oh boy, my bad, thanks for insisting. The girl with the blades is from the Sakura Taisen Movie (aka Sakura Wars). When i clicked on the time, to confirm on my previous reply, i assume the youtube player kinda delayed the timeline bar or something.
@RRRRapify Well i always recommend watching everything prior to a movie or season. I'm not a specialist on Sakura Wars, but there are 2 OVAs and a TV series before the movie (everything else is posterior and shouldn't matter much to understand the movie).
Btw the OVAs are Sakura Wars:Ouka Kenran and Sakura Wars:Gouka Kenran
@MadVinylist actually this song was a collaboration with Yoko Kanno. Steve Conte has done several such collaborations and this is one of them. it is true that the singer is steve conte but the lyrics were done by Yoko Kanno, if i remember what i read on the song when i was looking it up..
@gunsniper0018 absolutely. The song is by Yoko Kanno. Steve Conte was simply hired by her as part of the Seatbelts for this song. She does this a lot. I think "Stray" from Wolf's Rain Opening is the same case.
@strikerk I didn't forget it, i had so much more material but a lot of stuff didn't fit. Often i wonder about some scenes i should have replaced though with scenes from other series :(
@dimanganime Sailor Moon but i may be thinking the manga not the anime if so sorry, Ah My Goddess September 1988 ongoing, Patlabor 1988 1994, 3x3 Eyes December 1987 October 2002, and a few others but like i said its all Jap dates so if this is going my american then ya they are 90's
sorry just realised i put the manga date for 3x3 eyes but the original jap release was 89 and 91 in america and good god i wish i could find the 2ed half of it T.T got as far as her dissapearing and him going looking for her
@Kagebushin01 Yeah, this is the Animes we're talking about, not the mangas. Ah My Goddess debuted in 1993, 3x3 Eyes in 1991 and Sailor Moon in 1992 (japanese dates). You were correct about Patlabor tough, altough the clips i used here were from the movies released later in the 90's, the very 1st Patlabor OVAs and TV series date from 1988.
Also, lol, i'm the same, haven't finished 3x3 Eyes, stalled on the Seima Densetsu OVAs :<
@jlenoconel Actually, anime has been in a crisis lately. Yeah, it doesn't mean they don't make great stuff anymore, really, but it's almost everything based on Moe-blob genres. Diversity marked the 90's like nothing else.
In order: Perfect Blue, You're Under Arrest, Tenchi Muyo, Golden Boy, Vision of Escaflowne, Tenchi Muyo again, Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou, Neon Genesis Evangelion, To Heart
I'm not talking about the cut of Yohko Mitsurugi's bust from Detonator Orgun or the licked lips, but the cool (and transformation naked?) chick cast in shades gray.
Hmm... after a little browsing I can answer my own question: that's Magic Knight Rayheart.
However the following cuts are also interesting. What about the other girl with the OMG-ish (dots on head - though only two and circular, not diamonds) makeup?
Hello! Indeed the naked transformation belongs to Magic Knight "Rayearth" :p
The following cuts are also from it, until the girl with the makeup you noticed. That's from an anime called "Photon", which embarassingly enough, i forgot to add to the sidebar.
I'm posting because there was an user here asking for an anime title he didn't remember, and instead of clicking "reply" i clicked "remove" so his post was deleted. Sorry about that, hope you see this by coming back. Please post it again if you will.
That sequence of the "Astronaut" with the smoke on the helmet is from a small collection of 3 amazing half-hour OVAs. That collection was released by the name of "MEMORIES" and each OVA was made by a different genious of the Manga/Anime culture. Names such as Katsushiro Otomo (Akira, Steamboy) and Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue, Tokyo Grandfathers, Millenium Actress) and Yoko Kanno (for the 1st OVA's OST are proof enough for everyone to check out "MEMORIES".
90's anime were the best. They were original and gave you a sense that you were witnessing something amazing.
Now in days its not an art and the storytelling are not great and the animations are done with high tech computer software so you can't distinguish one artform from another.
There were so many great animes, that we're on the end of the 1st decade of the new millenium, and i'm still trying to catch up with many awesome classic animes. Long live celluloid!!
I sure took some weeks to manage all the animes and respective scenes for these 3 AMVs, in order to make them rich in variety, so THANKS for the comment man xD
it would be best if you added the notes (that sticky-notes on youtube) to the scenes so we can know what is part of which anime.. i see here many stuff i didnt know.. and i wish to watch!!! But i dont know the name :( :(
that scene is from "X" the movie (also known as "X - 1999" i think... its greatly animated, but i personally think the series are far superior in depth story and character development. In the movie u can find fast paced script, almost only night scenes and only 1 or 2 scenes with characters that dont belong to the main cast lol
:p that wud take 2 comment pages, i have them listed at the end of the documentary, from all the 3 AMVs, oh and, even today there are some great animes...many titles look lame when they depend solely on the poor insertion of 3DCG, but yeah...those oldies, 100% drawn and animated with pure cells T_T good old times, damn i sound like a ojisan v__v ... oh well, thanks for the comment, but make sure u check sum recent animes ok?
