  • "You know the bottle ain't to blame and I ain't tryin' to/ 'Cause it don't make you do a thing, it just lets you"

    God, I love this band!

  • sometimes i wear pants and sometimes i dont go figure

  • loves me some drivebyz

  • the bottle brings peace when you let it I rest when I'm dead

  • It don't make you do a thing, it just lets you.

  • DBT songs are generally 1 step down from standard tuning

  • ANYONE KNOW THE TUNING OF THIS SONG??

  • I could use a bottle of Jack about now!

  • yeah the bottle is to blame....can't drink if you are underground........

  • @katzswoman just stop talking. they are figures of speech... they are used rhetorically. MANY great songwriters/writers use metaphors and exaggeration to diverge from literal text. or else a lot of writing would be boring and uninteresting. i guess you haven't ever picked up on that.. .

Cooley's absurdity conveys meaning and creativity........ your absurdity conveys that you're a simpleton.

  • 9 people are T-total and seriously need some whisky

  • dammit, lloks like I have a few more albums to get!!! Cooley is the man!!

  • 9 people have no demons to get out and have no idea how good this song is.

  • bought this album 6 years ago & thought I didn't like it! What a massive mistake, just started listening a few days ago, its brilliant. Anything Mike Cooley does sends shivers straight through me. Saw them in UK when Jason was still with them. He jumped off stage and gave me a quick hug, treasured memories.

  • Revelation !

  • Another three guitar band. Sweetness!

  • @lahamttt123 Three axe attack.

  • esta musica es sorprendente!

  • got kd with me so ready to hit the road again

  • Drinking JD right now and listen to good music, what can be better.

  • just love this Band,but what do i know+.. i`m from Norway ;-)

  • "It dont make a thing it just let you!"

  • These kids got some sounds I like...red, the over 50 kinda guy

  • Buzzed playing at it's best!!

  • this is the way the truckers should be! everyone doing what they do!!

  • Cooley is the most badass of badass.

  • the best dbt songs are all mike cooley

  • @stumadre / a more true statement has never been posted on youtube

  • @stumadre This one in particular is my favorite.Mike Cooley is my fav DBT singer!!!!You can totally tell that they are all shit faced in this clip though.lol

  • @stumadre

    truth. Cooley's song are great.

  • three guitars!! YEssssssss!!!!!!!

  • They are opening for Tom Petty Tonight in cincy. Never seen them before but reminds me of Skynard. Should be a great concert, everytime I see Petty he rocks the place out.

  • why did they have to give their best song to their worst vocalist. still amazing

    though

  • @dennis276 cuz Cooley wrote it.

  • @dennis276 "Give the song to their worst vocalist"? It's his damn song!!! Cooley RAWKS & is probably the best writer in the band.

  • @dennis276 Worst vocalist? I understand that this band has vocal styles that are a bit coarse for the mainstream-minded music fan... But Cooley's voice is awesome, period.

Have you even heard the album version? That's Cooley's voice on it. Stellar as ever.

  • Am I listening to lynard skynard? great stuff.

  • @lahamttt123 no you're not...

  • Tonight in SLC, yes please.....

  • in wich album came this song?? anyone???

  • @jumboraz

Southern Rock Opera. Best song on the whole album.

  • The three mic'd vocal attack!

  • Seeing these guys AGHAIN tonight! Awesome!

  • When Im 6 feet underground, ill need a drink or 2MOSTFUKINDEFINITLY

  • Man i fuckin love when stroker ace is on mic. I think Patterson rocks, but damn it man, fuckin Cooley rules !!!

  • Cooley is the best songwriter in music, period

  • @Madigan101st ...I was at the 40watt on the 15th as well. What a show! Their new stuff is great and I even liked The Decoys.

  • @dhutson18 what! no way? thats awesome. what a night!!!

Have you heard the Big To Do yet? its really starting to grow on me

  • They sound like the second coming of the Outlaws on this tune. That's a good thing, by the way.

  • YOU people in the New world are lucky, to have this band "around"" most of the time! We in europe are starving !!! Please come again !

  • There is some beautiful music coming out of the U.S. these days, but you wouldn't know it with all the crap that they ever put on tv.

  • GOD BLESS YOU

  • Lyrics that most if not all can relate to. They are a very talented band!

  • Saw them at last in Melb Aus with Booker T. What a show! Hope so much they come back soon.

  • @maltman36 Saw them at the 40 watt on the 15th, changed my life hahha.

  • Great venue too. I've driven from Vancouver to Seattle to catch a few shows there.

Finally got to see them here last year, frikkin awesome band to see live...

  • Cooley is ever so gifted. His delivery and timing are very clever. I think he's gone beyond any of the big "Southern Rock" bands of the 70's & 80's. I seem to skip to the Cooley (and now Shonna) songs when I play their albums.

  • @Gubentia I dont skip tracks on DBT albums, I listen to them straight on through

  • Listen to Isbell's leads in this. So tasteful!! I bet their gonna miss him. As a musician myself, he's one of my favorites. I heard that he is married to the bass player?

  • they split...i dunno if one had to do with the other, but i can't imagine it didn't.. this is mike cooley's song

  • no kiddin, thats crazy.

  • what would be their best album??

  • Dirt South is for my money the best all arund album. Decoration Day - the song itself - is by far and away my favortie song on a DbT album; but as an album - Cooley, Patterson, and Isbell are all hiting their stride in terms of songwriting on Dirty South.

  • Southern Rock Opera is also a good one. Women Without Whiskey is on that album.

  • you can't go wrong buying all of them!

  • imo

    1.Dirty south

    2.Decoration day

    3.Southern rock opera

  • i agree.. dirty south cant be beat, its so bad ass

  • great shot!

  • cooley sings like a dog and I love him! DBT is the greatest american band of all time!

  • early grand funk railroad another great american band

  • Cant wait to see them for the ninth time back in good ol Athens in January. Rock on!!

  • trust me when these people play charleston sc you will not get in the door.

  • What do you mean? Do you think I need to buy tickets in advance? I've never been to The Music Farm and don't know DBT's turnout in SC.

  • if morning's a bitch with open arms

and night's a girl who's gone too far...

whiskey's harder to keep than a woman

    and it's half as sweet

    oh, but women without whiskey...

    women without whiskey...

    whiskey's hard to beat.

  • Could you please check out my Trucker song "Tundra and Tacoma" and tell me what you thing.......Thanks for your time

  • DBT<3

  • Dayum good song!!!!

  • when i'm six feet underground, i'll need a drink or two..awesome

  • was going to see then sept 20th but something came up.

  • DBT ROX!!!!!!!

  • the best song by mike cooley in my opinion

  • Hard to say - soooo many good songs - this, Zip City, Gravity's Gone - too many anthems for one man to write - course, I think Jack Daniels co-wrote these with him.

  • This is a bad ass song! Is this off of one of their albums? This is rock how it's supposed to be, brutal and hard.

  • It's off of Southern Rock Opera.

  • I agree. This song is the tits.

  • Great Vid thanx for posting ..DBT ROX!!!

  • dbt - next week can't wait

    dbt kicks ass

  • This is a song about alcoholism and dealing with it on your own terms, knowning the damage it does both to you and the ones around you. Every line is the truth, and I'm glad somebody could figure out how to put the curse to music of two rockin' guitars...till I get this demon out.

  • "You know thw bottle ain't to blame and I aint trying to, It don't make you do a thing it just lets you" another great line from the DBT. These guys are so underated, great song writers, great musicians, everything!

  • Cooley rocks!!!

  • @skidroz Hell Fucking yes their awesome and underrated!!!

  • I don't think DBT has one bad song. There music feels good!

  • Was reading about the Dixie Mafia on Wikipedia and it linked to Buford Pusser, and then how these guys did some songs about him So I YouTubed them and I am impressed. I hear Outlaws,GA Satelites, and of all things, a flavor of the old Clash. These guys are the real deal.

  • You didnt say it, so I will.

    DBT are bigger than Jesus.

  • don't tell 'em they're bigger than Jesus.

  • I agree sneaky. DBT is hard to beat...heh, i made a pun. Yay me.

  • drive by truckers , they are like MUSICAL SAVIORS (not to blashpheme, not talking of comparing to JEsus, just saying they are SAVING REal music keepingITalive

  • DBT Yes!!!!

  • whiskey is hard to beat, unlike a woman.i think its brave to sing from an unpopular view point.examples of a polluted mind.the next round is on me.DBT=bac

  • Extremely good

  • real good song

  • one of my favourite DBT song. the new album is killer!
