Haha.. I took a look in my picture book... where I keep track of all my ocarinas and stuff. This one was tuned in a low G-major. So you were close. Goodluck on finding a nice ocarina.
I also have a STL, the enigma, but mine sounds quite airy on the high notes. I also have one from Terry Riley in the UK. That one is a pendant 6-hole with a celtic design and sounds amazing. In france there is also a great builder called Olivier Gosselink... he even has tuning slides on the oc! Just google and you will find some. I`m just saying that there are more options than STL or Songbird.
I'm not even going to lie to you, most of the ocarina players on youtube aren't as good as you are. Docjazz4 is great, and from most of your vids i can tell that you have the pontential to be as good as he is. great sound from the homemade oc btw XD
Thanks so much. I am actually more focussed on making my ocarinas sound great. Learning to get better at playing will come later. I`ll post a video with my newer ocarinas real soon.
Wow, this is so nice! You are playing, "Tooku e Yukitai (遠くへ行きたい)" or "I Want to Go Far Away," a little old Japanese song. Check "watch?v=uqV70m43bwA&feature=related" on YouTube for example. The song goes like, ♪I want to walk in a strange town. I want to go somewhare distant...♪ This was composed by Hachidai Nakamura, who composed "Sukiyaki." Both your first play and your version are excellently performed here. I like your version! Thank you so much!
Thank You. Indeed it was supposed to be Toku e Yukitai, but I only got an mp3 from a friend, but not the sheetmusic. That`s the reason why it isn`t always rythmically correct, but now I do have the sheetmusic and that makes it easier to play. It was also a way to try out my handmade 12-hole. I`m glad you liked it!
Thanks again. The second version isn`t even written down, haha. I just put the camera on and went for it. I also thought the rhythm sounded quite nice, that`s why I attached it.
It is a song of Japan (I want to go to the distance).
I like this song too.
日本の歌(遠くへ行きたい)です。

Hmm
if I had to take a close guess... this Ocarina is tuned in A or B. But then again I'm not sure xD I just know the tonic isnt C
Nice song though. a Backtrack would be nice, I have never heard this song.

Your arrangements of the song are all good. You are actually talented. Your blue ocarina looks and sounds also very good for sure. Thanks!!
