If I´m not misstaking this is from 92 right? In 93 Stange Cargo III was realeased and to me it seems pretty obvious that the music industry peaked somewhere around here. With the unsusual (and very rare) exception of course.
I blame the chavs.. There was so many of them then they didn't even really have a collective name, t'was they who insisted we wheren't cool and served penalties accordingly. And yes compared to modern "Indie" our era was way cooler.
may I chance a little promo, these guy's should have been signed, please search...
can't understand why this was not put on the album as the title track of that album. Same story with Nowhere, which only appeared on the cd version of their 1st album (believe it or not, but at the time - 1990 , vinyl sales were still higher than cd sales).
@sodacakeblues ''can't understand why this was not put on the album as the title track of that album'' Maybe because it's limp-wristed, bland, forgettable, standard mid-90's indie fare. Someone referenced this tune when asking why is A.Bell with Oasis when he was once doing tunes like this and Nowhere. Eh? Mind you it was a Guardian reading ponce who said that. Weird breed of prententious fuckwits those Guardian readers.
@Underground906, yep, don't let your opportunity to make easy derogatory quips based on yr personal prejudices and sociological generalisation (which I mostly agree with) go to waste when it betrays an honest appraisal of the merits of the actual song. Your replace yr mistrust of middle-class pretension with the pretension of acerbic derogatory wit which is basically based on some pretty petty bland stereotyping bollox
These guy's were fantastic and so is this song. by the mid nineties they were bollocks, though. they never got quite as bad as the Boo radleys did. what makes these great bands go so crap is it the money? shifting genre's? or just listening to too much oasis?
Too much fucking Oasis!! I despise that band with a passion. Oasis were at best a 3 chord wonder band, slightly better than Slade!! There were so many better bands around at the time I just dont understand how Oasis got to be so fucking popular? They were rubbish, fucking utter rubbish!!
Because at the time (early 90's) all (british) record companies had a new cash cow: the EP. With the CD single and the end of 12" extended single mixes, they wanted bands to release 4-track singles on 12" and CD single.
So a lot of extra tracks were recorded to be able to sell those. You had an album and 3-4 4-track singles with extra exclusive tracks so fans would spend 4x more money just to get all the tracks.
Early hip-hop EPs were better than some full price albums. Now, because of Napster and the nature of file sharing people can cheery pick the best tunes and ignore the dross! Everyone is happy!
Ride is 1 of the best.

@shelleyslater It could otherwise be deemed cool if it is appropriate, and I think that is the case here,

This sounds more dated than a 60's tune. What is this about? Don't get me wrong Leave Them All Behind is excellent. Sorry!

The CD singles "Twisterella" and "Leave them All Behind" were a little disturbing.
They both have pictures of shirtless minors on the cover.
