this slam dunk is a close second to carters year against francis and mcgrady. vince/francis, richardson/mason and jordan/wilkins set the standards for an nba slam dunk contest. pure dunks no props needed. blake is a great power dunker but was a big dissapointment. dwight howards year was great, but he was more of a prop dunker too. i dont think the slam dunk contest will ever be what it used to be.

@oneman91 If you look at what Steve Francis and Tracy McGrady did, they gave him ample competition...even if it was over after the 1st dunk. I'm not saying JR's last dunk wasn't great, it was...but I look at the quality of all the dunks...and the quality of the dunks, I think, trumps 2003's...but I think 2003's is the 2nd best. I personally don't think Jordan's dunks were ever that great...it was just a lot of chaos in the air before he dunked the ball.

I know it looks flashier but it's actually harder to pull off a between-the-legs off a dribble then it is off a lob because off a lob it's already up at that level whereas off the dribble you have to bring it up, down, between, and back up. But mostly it's because Mason was higher and jumped from further out...
