I do not agree that this is the safest way. That horse was hiding at first, and seemed bothered by the presence of the visitors. Plus, he seemed a bit agitated by the "petting" and seemed generally uncomfortable, although well-mannered for the most part. A nonchalant roundabout-approach-and-retreat would have been better, judging the horse's mood, plus offering a scent, like the trainer did with her hand. The departure is the safest part of this video lesson.
