You knew him a lot longer than I did but I feel exactly as you do. My intro to him was when HBO was new. He is one man I wish could have lived forever and a person I wouldn't mind being cloned, though I am not really into cloning. I look for others to carry on his legacy but I guess it really falls on us individually. I think if everyone in this world could adopt some of his way of thinking we would all be a lot happier. I'm sure he wouldn't agree with me. Thanks Penn.
Penn, that was beautiful. It is wonderful to hear the opinion of a comedic force like you talk about George Carlin in such a positive way. Carlin helped me feel like I'm not so alone in this country, or hell, even in this world. I'm glad you saw it too. Thanks to people like you and Carlin I know I'm not crazy for buying in to the consumerist paradise they're trying to sell us. I know I'm on the right path.
I got that album as a kid after seeing George on flip Wilson, I almost died laughing and had to hear more, I have loved him ever since and still sing that great love song , it goes something like: I left my sinuses in Arizona , I left my liver in Peru ,well I left my kidney for a summer in Sidney and I'm leaving my heart to you. Thanks George for the great laughs and making us think.
It's great to see this record appreciated. I got Take offs and put ons back when I was around 12. I got it from one of these record clubs from a magazine. I think I still have it.

As to the point of this Specific video, he was referring to the influence that George Carlin's legacy has had on comedy.
Wherever George Carlin is, I don't think he is "screaming up at us" from "down there" -- rather: IF there were a god, I think he would be the First to appreciate George Carlin's genius.
Early George Carlin? Hippy Dippy Weatherman? Yeah that's so much better than "Guess what, the bad guys won a long time ago and they don't give a fuck about you." Give me late George Carlin any day.
Penn Jillette works for the bad guys, at the Cato Institute corporate propaganda mill, funded by ExxonMobil, Monsanto, Walmart, Phillip Morris, etc.
Cato is dedicated to destroying anything that makes life bearable for working people like Social Security and environmental protection.
George Carlin was a thinking person, Penn is the same way, they are smart people that know what they are talking about. Nobody words "the BullShit of the world" like they can
Oh dear. Another who thinks Invisible Cloud Father gave Palestine to the mythological ancestors of European Jews thousands of years ago.
Amnesty International just condemned Israel for war crimes in their recent gaza incursion. Zionism = Palestinian holocaust, with Stars of David instead of Swastikas.
Penn, I was a child of the 60's too and I loved George Carlin from the very first time I ever saw him. And then I watched him evolve from the suit and tie era through to the hippie movement and then eventually the mature HBO guy. He was always brilliant and he always hit a nail right on the head. We will all miss him!! Penn, we look to you to continue carrying the torch that influenced you.
That's funny - I love that record! Several years ago, I felt the same way and found it available (through Amazon i think).
It's not Carlin as you might know him, but it is GREAT. If you like FM & AM, this is more of the same, really. Wonderful Whino and the Hippy Dippy Weather man. Great Classic Stuff.
It's interesting to contrast this album with his comedy of his last few decades. While insightful, I wish he could have sounded like he was having as much fun as when making this record.
>"If Penn Jillette were a true atheist he would advocate giving the Palestinians their land back. Like fellow cultural Jew/mainstream media errand boy Bill Maher, Jillette mocks all cultural beliefs EXCEPT ZIONISM, the dogma that European Jews have a right to Palestine because thousands of years ago their INVISIBLE GENOCIDAL CLOUD FATHER promised it to their mythical ancestors, according to their big book of bloodsoaked, racist, sexist, homophobic fairytales."
If it's your house and you move away, and you take an apartment in the big city. Can you still go back to your house if you didn't sell it? Well the land in the mid east always belonged to the Jews first ! They had to move away to save their lives when others moved in to threaten them. They have since wanted to come home and legally they have the right.
"The bad guys" meaning the corporate/regime fascist fucks Penn Jillettte shills for. No wonder he wants to redirect his audience to George Carlin's early nonpolitical schtick about hippies in the 1960s.
George Carlin evolved into one of the bravest most astute commentators this country has seen. Penn Jillette just parrots the propaganda of his handlers at the Cato Institute propaganda mill."

Well I concur with most of what you stated, but are you claiming Penn Jilette is a "cultural jew"? If not,I'm slightly cofused by this statement-"Like fellow cultural Jew/mainstream media errand boy Bill Maher, Jillette mocks all cultrual beliefs EXCEPT ZIONISM,"

I didn't know George Carlin but I think I love him. I've never had something resonate so much as his 'invisible man in the sky' act. I was quite young but it was crystal clear - it made perfect sense. It was the first encounter I had ever had with atheism and, aside from making me laugh so hard I cried, it felt as true to me as anything I had ever heard. He quieted the conflict in my head and made me feel safe somehow. I know that's cheesy but it's true.

listen to my words and still want to continue this crazy rant you seem to be going on... calm down, have some dip. I support this because it should be, it is a man's heartfelt story about his life and his influenses during his career. so while you rant about how bad Penn is while jacking off your dog, I will continue to believe that you're wrong, because I am a fan of George Carlin
the use of profanity. people who haven't listened to his older stuff really should, it would give them more of an understanding of his life. I think for Penn to express himself on one of his favorite comedians of all time is incredible, more so because he has been listening to Carlin before most of you were even born. I'd like for everyone going on a rant about how bad this is to SHUT THE FUCK UP and BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASSHOLE. If you had any respect for a legend like George, you'd fucking go
now I'm a huge fan of George Carlin, not like these people, since they've probably only ever heard "you are diseased" or "parental advisory" for later on in his career. I have listened to his comedy and still think of him as one of my very few role modles (I'll get to that in a minute.) I think that his beginings were great, they set the ground for him as a comedian, but he wanted to take a different approach to things and thought of the seven words, which actually got him arrested because of

Everything George knew about how America is run, manipulative brainwashing, 9/11 and everything else, is stuff you would call crazy bullshit conspiracys on your bullshit show?
Carlin's take on 9/11 was "the government does what it wants. It doesn't investigate itself. A govt 9/11 investigation would be a whitewash like with JFK."
Penn Jillette's take on any questioning the Bush regime's 9/11 fairytale was "push them down a flight of stairs" and any seeing the Warren Commission bullshit for what it is as "conspiracy nuts."
Penn Jillette has made quite a fortune since hooking up with the ExxonMobil-funded Cato Instiute right wing whack job propaganda mill.
South Park is totally ingenious. It makes compelling arguments and totally defines my feelings on things, whether I want it to or not. That show is way smarter than me.
george carlin you have no rights this country is finished 9/11 truth
His last work & observations were the culmination of a lifetime living w/ eyes wide open, stating the obvious to the end about the murderous criminal fucks in government & corporate boardrooms while media shills take the money to distract & propagandize.
It would be a shame were Carlin's later work forgotten or erased in a rush to remember his early pop success."
Carlin affected our lives, comedicly, politically, and socially, unlike most flamers I've been reading on here, Penn actually does have intelligent opinions, and insightful perspectives.
Admittedly, he does bow to a whim on some opinions, but I guarantee that anybody would in his position.
Saying that him mentioning Carlin in kind is fucked up, is disrespectful to both, but I guess that an idiot behind a keyboard really doesnt care what opinion people take of him, as long as he makes noise.

George Carlin had a talent of telling jokes as if he was telling them for the first time. I love the album Killer Carlin. I read in the newspaper that his daughter thought his comedy was getting a little bit on the dark side, I agree that his hbo show Life is Worth Losing tour, was a little dark, not him, but some of the subjects. Thanks Penn, your a great guy, thanks for the vidieos and for the enterainment.

Ok people shut up seriously! Talking about this stupid elites like freemasons, skull and bones, illumanati etc. everyone know that some of these elites exist but not like you crazy fucks who think there's a NWO and the government is making the world a communist one. Shut up too Penn respected George Carlin but he Carlin didn't believe in bullshit consparicy theories just to stop bullshit government from their power.
He lives in a 'Free Democratic' Country Man ! He can Say whatever he wants - If you dont want to hear what he has to say - then put one and one together - Dont come here !
He has as much right to make a Video and put it on YouTube as You Do.
Penn, please, please take you cock out of Glen Beck's asshole. He's clearly losing his mind. Please re-think that association. Teller? Tell him dude. Glen Beck is the dumbest guy on TV. His high ratings on FOX tell it all. FEMA-camps? Really? He's the BULLSHIT you need to be talking about.

Whether Carlin ( May he Rest in Peace ) would have felt that way, is not for you to say buddy. Im not neccesarilly agreeing or disagreeing with you buddy, Im just saying - Dont put Words in his (Carlin) Mouth.
LMAO. Yes, how dare you cherish the memory of a true voice for freedom -- let some lying unfunny hack corporate/regime shill (and his anonymous fluffers on an internet comment page) revise and rewrite your lifelong experience with the glory that was George Carlin.
The world is long past knowing this hasbeen fat fuck is a mercenary disinformation specialist. Or did you really think that power-hungry billionaires pay him millions to babble about whatever pops into his dented pumpkin head?
Direct younger generations away from Carlin's, smarter, funnier later work since it is a critique of your bloodsucking corporate masters.

The pro comments to all these videos have the strong odor of Penn's fat little menopausal publicist.

That is not what he said at all. You really need to watch that episode again, and put your ideological lens somewhere fucking else. He was referring to the mostly delusional leaders of the 9/11 truth movement and in particular the author of one of most idiotic pieces of baseless trash in recent memory.

How dare this unfunny fat scumbag fascist lapdog speak George Carlin's name.
Penn Jillette sold his credibility to the Cato Institute corporate propaganda mill, the Viacom media monopoly and the Bush regime. Having been paid millions to read lies off teleprompters for so long, his phony populist image is gone for good.
Trying to pretend now with these slick "homemade" videos that he's just a regular guy spouting his own opinions, with shills writing suck-up comments is pathetic.
hahahahhahahaa wow I don't think that you could be more of a stupid, insignificant cunt. Enjoy your bitter lonely existance you burnt out 60s-like conspiracy theory loving douchebag.
Yeah, Penn, plug early George Carlin making fun of hippies, because later George Carlin comprises rants speaking truth about the genocidal US government, the Military-Industrial Complex, and lying dancing monkey shills in the mainstream media like Penn Jillette. This video is a new low when it looked like this lying fat fuck couldn't sink any lower.
Because Penn disagrees with you on some issues you act this way? Way to discourse, way to challenge his ideas. Call him a shill., a toady? Prove it. Better than that though, make a reasoned, evidence based argument that refutes Penn's position on which you and he disagree.
I disagree with Penn on global climate change and the importance of conservation. However, I find what he has to say challenging where we disagree and always edifying.

Shut up about "God" you brainwashed small minded zealots. Think for yourself, and life will be more clearer than some mass hypnotic bullshit you are accustomed too. This is about a Great Man, speaking about a Great Man.
If I dug a little, I'm sure I could see where this debate started and what started it. Unfortunately, I'm so offended by the fact that I had to go back 4 pages and STILL didn't find the epicenter, that I gave up and decided to throw my 2 cents in. SHUT UP! Penn put up an incredible video about this wonderful man who inspired me and so many others to question authority, think for yourself, and fucking laugh when you fart... and you're having a religious debate. It's ridiculous; move it on out.
It's amazing how stuff like that stays with you. I'm told that my father watched Star Trek with me when I was almost a baby. Later, as a teenager, an episode came on, and I didn't know anything about the show, but as soon as it started, I could suddenly recite every line that was about to come up.
I don't really believe in re-incarnation, but every so often the planet is graced with someone like Mark Twain or George Carlin. They are the closest thing to saints that we ever get.
Sir Isaac Newton was born in a different era; hence he did not have the information available to him that I and you have today. As I am sure you can tell from my writing Im not a highly intellectual person, but know far more about natural selection and the Universe than Sir Isaac. An average child can learn a lot just through watching the Discovery channels, with information on planet Earth etc. I have no idea what I am trying to say but said it anyway.
I wonder what Penn thinks about there not being a mention of both Carlin and Mark Twain being atheists when Carlin was given the Mark Twain award that was just aired on PBS? They at least played a clip of George Carlin ripping on religion but I thought it was a significant thing that was not mentioned.

Dane Cook is much funnier than George "Loser" Carlin. I did the happy dance like "Balki" on the best show of all time, "Perfect Strangers", when he died.
Then you're a fucking idiot bwilliam614. Dane cook is a hack, and is one of the least funny comics out there. If it wasn't for oldies like George Carlin, people like Dane Cook wouldn't have jobs and would probably working at MacDonalds.
Dane Cook is a loser. Dane Cook flea on the nutsack of the dog in the room where George Carlin is banging your mom. Dane is not original, he is a con artsist.
Indeed his material sucks, the only decent material he has, he stole from other comics like Louis C.K., And he gets laughs by squealing like a girl in his jokes. He should be the host of Blue's Clues, Not on a stage attempting to make ppl laugh. But no one will ever top Carlin, the absolute greatest comedian to ever live. R.i.P.
George Carlin was my hero. If I ever idolized anybody, it was him. I spoke of him incessantly at odd times and anybody who knew me knew of my affections for that man. The day he died, I had people calling me offering their condolences, which I didn't expect at all, as if he was my father or something who had just passed away. It was wonderful because I was crushed in my own way, but that's literally how important he was to my life.
Penn, thanks for this. I am not ashamed to say I LOVED George Carlin. Recently, I went on a 12 hour road trip and I played my mp3 player on the way. I have every Carlin album he ever did on there and I know very well the bit you're talking about.
The man was a comedy god. Carlin, Pryor, and Bruce invented modern comedy. I got really choked up when he died.
I ask myself often why someone as great and as important as George Carlin must die, but a douche like George Bush still lives.
ok ok we get it , we get it , life experiences are what make up your identity (instead of commodities )and george carlin is awesome yes yes we know that already , gosh BOOORINGGG.

Carlin affected our lives, comedicly, politically, and socially, unlike most flamers I've been reading on here, Penn actually does have intelligent opinions, and insightful perspectives.
