  • How can you not love her??

  • @MaryJoMcCormic some, like me, see her voice as inauthentic. No adult human makes those sounds sincerely. Regina is one thing, this is entirely another.

  • @banstoetter a voice is a tool, which one has at their disposal. Just like you don't have to strum a guitar (you can bang on it or use a cello bow), you don't have to use your voice in it's sort of "natural" element - you can do with it what you like.

  • Joanna is one of those girls you feel slightly guilty for wanting to fuck.

  • @MrLeeKnees strangely enough I would fuck her in a heart beat. then sit in bed and talk to her while her music plays on the radio player. Only she could make me do that.

  • She is wonderful.. But I think she has Asperger's or something.. like many creative and wonderful people do. And don't bring up Bill Gates because he's an evil freak.

  • One of the things I adore the most about this amazing writer and musician is that her work angers some people, even making them want to break things or punch her or tear her apart. Feel that? That is her spell. She is purifying evil.

  • she's wonderful. in alot of ways, yes.

  • i love joanna newsom! i want to marry her! she is the best song writer of our day! she truely blows me away.

  • She seems very sweet, innocent and almost child like. I find it very sweet and endearing. :)

  • >greentexting on youtube

  • >you will never marry joanna newsom

  • Can anybody tell me what's the name of the song in 1:03?

  • @beetlejuZz Sawdust & Diamonds

  • @RoboAlaska Thanks a lot :)

  • Sawdust and diamonds

  • @beetlejuZz Sawdust and Diamonds.

  • Oh she kills me

  • she's obviously stoned

  • women with bangs, my only weakness

  • If Have One on Me had been made in the 70's, we'd be going now: "all the great music was made back then"

  • The strange thing is, I think I know what wavelength she's on. 'Trouble articulating feelings or ideas'. Words are not reality as such only the blunt instruments which allow us to describe it. Seriously, Joanna Newsom is to be praised for being so original. Imagine the commitment required to play the harp. Imagine taking to the stage with a strange, strange voice like that. I think she's in a class of her own.

  • venezuelan music yeah!

  • Ew. Why would Andy pick her?

  • @plasticworld96 because you were never there for him.

  • @plasticworld96 *why would she pick andy?* It's okay, sometimes i make big typos like that too. =]

  • Does she have Asperger's Syndrome?

  • i love her shy smiles she has when she's talking. like at 0:42 2:30 2:34 and at 3:44 . it's so cute and makes her seem like a volnurable girl but with a very strong mind.

  • Wow, she has changed so much over the past five years, and yet, she hasn’t changed at all. She is so wonderful, natural, and beautiful. What I saw her live last year, I was just blown away. She draws you in and drowns you peacefully in her songs – in the sweetest of ways! She sees so much more in this world, and describes it so well. There is no artist equal to her, in my eyes. I hope to meet her one day, and tell her how much she has inspired me :’)

  • she's away with the fairies..i dont mind though! thank you dad, for getting me to listen to her more :D

  • I think you are grammatically retarded

  • This girl went to the Bjork school of bat shit crazy.

  • @vernotico You mean of AWESOME!

  • @vernotico coward

  • Ugh, she's so amazing and I can't believe I missed her when she was on tour near where I live. I won't stop kicking myself for that.

  • I introduce people to her music by saying "Approach this like you would a Dylan record. Genius in an odd voice done for effect more than necessity". Once you "get" Joanna it's an amazing experience.

  • I want *all* of her babies.

  • crack is whack lady

  • shes a craze

  • sure is aspergers in here

  • she seems a bit phony now if you look at her new interviews.

  • @lilmanshank I disagree, I think she is an eternal child but her being propelled into the limelight has matured her quite a lot since this interview was taken, or at least she needs to act more professionally as the stakes are higher now.

Absolutely love Joanna and her music.

  • She is so beautiful! I love her music, no matter what people say.

  • She's gotta be high as balls in this video.

  • omg shes such a cutie, no wonder why andy is dating her!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @blixalaih Why would you comment on *this video?

  • @blixalaih No. She's just young and who she is.

  • @gthomasfilms

no way, something was up in this interview. she's not even remotely like this anymore.

  • @wayfarin how is she like now?

  • Weird...she's so much different now

  • i listen to crust punk and black metal...and yet i have the hugest fucking crush on this woman. <3 brilliant songwriter, this woman.

  • Fucking Goddess. Ughhh

  • I LOVE YOU JOANNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! <3

  • She Elvish. That's what elves sound like

  • es muy unica esta piba, perra, es divina y talentosa

  • oh my god.

  • A genuine, unique talent. If you really watch her fingers on the harp you cannot deny her technical ability. If you free yourself from the formula of the 'music' that we are spoon fed every day by profit motivated business you can hear the heart, soul and love that goes into every note of her fucked up, cracked sideways voice. Real music is a form of self expression, and few people express themselves as beautifully as this. If you don't agree with this, suck my fat one while watching Beyonce. x

  • @passionfrui

I totally agree however when you say 'fucked up, cracked sideways voice.' i dont agree at all, i really lvoe her voice, i know its quirky and different and i can see why people wouldnt like it but it does something to me and i just love it

  • @passionfrui TR00TH.

  • mushrooms much?

  • To all of you people...

There is nothing wrong with Joanna Newsom. No disabilities. And I understand that her voice isn't the usual thing you hear.... but that doesn't mean she's not a good singer. She is, as you can say, the woman Bob Dylan.

  • @guywhoonlycomments As well as she plays the harp, who could think she has any disabilities? She has extraordinary abilities.

  • who the hell feels at home in water...? lol sorry joanna

  • Whats the story on this shit. Is there something wrong with her? Of course there is she deff throwed way the fuck off but the voice is shit so whats her deal. I kno ppl wouldnt pay money to see someone with that voice unless there was somethin else goin on

  • She's so autistic or aspergers.

  • @TheMCC14 false. she is a musician.

  • @lieinmygrave People with autism or asperger's can be a musician you dumb ass.

  • @TheMCC14 obviously, but Joanna Newsom doesn't have either. She is just quirky and awesome

  • shes an angel whos forgotten about her wings

  • shes an angel who's forgotten about her wings

  • I think all the haters on the song videos didn't see any t & a,and dont understand/aren't open to anything else... But if they saw this, they'd fall in Love anyway! (or,in the words of the very wise and deep shizzlecream, want to fuck her)

  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure she's high.

  • she sounds like Bjork

  • @lizrossman1 but infinitly better.....

  • @kungpw27

woah woah woah.... i dont know abou all that, man...

  • @kungpw27

    Not better, just different :)

  • I was at this show. It was so crowded some people fainted and had to be carried away, but Joanna was amazing.

  • I'm gonna start my own pressed fairy book, just like Lady Cottington's. I'll start with Joanna Newsom.

  • She's sweet. I'm learning to like her voice. At first I couldn't stand it, I thought she sounded terrible, but that's because I wasn't used to her style. I can appreciate her a lot more the more I listen to her. Her older music is still a little hard for me to handle, but her newer stuff is heavenly. Joanna, you're gaining a new fan! :)

  • she acts much more differently in the nardwuar interview than this one

  • @Brah027 Yes she is, lol. A total retard!

  • @shizzlecream Oh my god what's your problem?!

  • @shizzlecream and u wouldnt fuck her?

  • I love her so much i'm willing to watch this in 240p.

  • @turdfacesaywhaaaa Whoa..even in 240p...you have such a good heart :-p hehehe =D

  • @Xerato2 I know, i'm a saint. lol.

  • Morphogenetic fields. I was videoing my old girlfriend at approx the same time as this video was made and many of the things she said correspond. Everything about choices, nature and expression. Great minds think alike.

  • i think shes a alien

  • that just makes me want to hug her <3

  • What song was she playing in the end?

  • Comment removed

  • @platyrus The Book of Right-on from The Milk Eyed Mender.

  • I will make a film about her

  • In every other interview she seems mature and well grounded, but she's acting like an autistic pixie princess here. It's odd how quickly people mature.

  • 0:38 what music name ?

  • @luis1999999997 The song at 0:38 is "Sawdust and Diamonds" from her album, "Ys"

  • to Joanna Newsom: ah shove a (c)ock in it already!

  • She's matured a lot since this interview, I think. It seems like she's putting on airs here and I don't understand why because everywhere else she's been so genuine. Whatever, Ys is the greatest album ever.

  • @Intelectual95 sorry bud, but no pics, no plausibility. I'm gonna have to hit you with a "Cool story bro" for the time-being.

  • What a faker. why andy why

  • @littleburger10 you speak the words that come from my brian

  • she's so cute!

  • It seems like she act and say things to satisfie people.

  • hahahaha lulzet hahahahahaahaha

  • she is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cuuuuute!!!!!

  • ahhhh I love her she's like a little kid <3

  • @ErickaSpiritCaster so what your saying is you like little kids........

  • @billyboneshisfancy Yeah.. i'm 15; is that weird? 0.o

  • @ErickaSpiritCaster oh really, well that joke back fired, lol.

  • @billyboneshisfancy owned xD

  • @ErickaSpiritCaster ha, pretty much!

  • What song starts at 1:09 ? Its so pretty.

  • @Izone508

    Sawdust & Diamonds :)

  • 1:19 which song is that?

  • omg im so in love with her!

  • the fact that people are arguing about your music means you are making ART! keep it up, the music world needs people like you.

  • Is she autistic?

  • @Alilrebelchick -.- no you wanker.

  • I wonder if she's seen a Doctor about those fits. Very strange person.

  • @Saybabylove We're all entitled to our own opinion, even if we type it in sentence fragments, I guess.

  • Oh my god, the way she speaks. I'm so in love with her.

  • I'm in love.

  • of course she likes the Earth element. she is Capricorn, which is an earth sign :)

  • @merger1987 Nope. Astrology has been way off for a long time, the orbits have changed synchronism and most people have signs different to what their former misconceptions were, she is most likely an Aquarius under the reformed and corrected system. (Also astrology is utter tripe just like crystal healing, homeopathy, scientology etc...)

  • @MakeEveryMomentCount

Okay, smart-ass, take it easy. I just made a comment, you don't have to take it seriously, okay?

  • her music is used on all those horror movies, she's creepy....

  • Can someone please clarify to me what can't singing in this case is. I mean her pitch is correct, her voice is unique, she expresses her emotion through her voice, not to mention that she is playing really difficult parts on the harp too. I mean sure there are other mainstream diva acts that are better than her but technically speaking I think she has pretty good control over her voice. So if your going to criticize her I think you should consider your personal preferences not her talent.

  • Black metal has better singers than her.

  • FUCKING. TERRIBLE. Isn't she shitty?

  • i'm in love with this woman's music.

  • @delicatethings Pretty sure my response was to someone who wasn't you. Stop taking yourself so seriously. Obviously, "JN" doesn't or she wouldn't sing.

  • heard her music in a commercial. glad to see she is gettin the recognition she deserves...

  • I don't care what anyone else says, I think her voice is ethereal and lovely.

  • INSANE HARP WOMEN

  • @antiirony jajajajaja, I bet everyone will love her in one year

  • She certainly is in a world of her own, but who are you to judge? I'd like to see you rock the harp like she does. She may have an unorthodox style and approach but she absolutely has talent, whether you like her or not.

  • This is one of my favorite interviews ever. She is a beautiful creature.

  • I think she is super high in this interview.

  • To each his own :) some people like her, others don't. Joanna is sort of, I suppose... She attracts a different audience. She's great and cute and seems like if you were in line at the grocery store and were short a few dollars she'd buy you your groceries lol, make sense?

  • I still think only a very tiny asian elderly woman is able to intentionally sound like that.

  • I'm glad to see her take music in her own direction, she has a wide variety of musical tastes which makes her voice all the more rich. She's trying a different approach to her music. She's pushing the boundaries of creativity that might one day open up a new genre of music for future musicians to explore. sure, her voice can be painful at times. But that's essentially the basis of creativity, it's not gonna be a "bumpless" ride. such creative journeys often lead to exciting discoveries.

  • Adorable :)

  • She is so cute I can't stand it.

  • I like girls that can jump like a mountain goat!

  • Why is that everyone who hates her voice probably cannot sing at all? She is not really hitting the wrong notes. Her voice just has a different texture compared to whatever you may listen to. She is also playing a harp while she sings. How many of you people can do that?

Nobody said she had an opera singer's voice or anything. Grow up.

Go listen to her new album "Have One On Me" her voice is better on it and she incorporates different instruments into the mix.

  • @BigTymerPimp Just respect the fact that she gets out there on stage with her voice, harp, and her heart. She is actually trying to make music which is more than I could say for most female artists today. Nobody said you had to like her, but at least respect her.

I'm not the biggest fan of a lot of musicans, but I don't go around talking about how much I don't like them. Know why? I have self-respect, and respect for people who are trying to do something constructive.

  • GO AWAY JOANNA NEWSOME your voice is death.

  • @chelseabean6 no you go away you came here dumb fuck

  • joanna newsoms voice haunts me. i hate it. its like nails on a chalboard

  • Screw all u faggots, Her lyrics are freaking amazing.. And u fuckers are to dump to know what she sings.

  • @Dudefish420 "too dump" ... please rewrite what you said in English.

  • @lulzhet Wauw Dog, ur awesome for spotting that. I bett you're an awesome person.

  • @Dudefish420 I bet you're twelve.

  • @lulzhet Great come back turd. but im not..

  • @Dudefish420 Maybe not physically, but all the damn pot you smoke seems to have stunted your mental growth. Damn hippies.

  • @lulzhet You aint really a social guy arnt u, people dont really like that of a person. now leave me alone you american.

  • @Dudefish420 hey hey hey.... I hate him too.... but don't go using that American word. Racist

  • @aarossell ...

  • @MagicalGreenDragon Crazy girls= the best sex.

  • After hearing her sing on that commercial of LG cellphones, I have decided never to buy LG phones. She is like a five year old Ke$ha with a harp.

  • why is andy samberg dating her?

  • Comment removed

  • she has a normal talking voice. what happened to her singing voice? ohhh and when i heard this on a commerical i thought it was lisa simpson.

  • she has a normal talking voice. what happened to her singing voice?

  • Sounds like a cross between Bjork, Charro and a baby throwing a tantrum.

  • She strongly resembles a mop I threw out a few weeks ago. In appearance and talent.

  • @kaylawuvscookies. Please go back to listening to incubus, and away from innovative musicians, thank you.

  • @delicatethings You do realize that you also like a musician that sucks, right? Glass houses and stones never play well together.

  • @dominicaalexia. We all have different music tastes, no need to be immature.

...Now back to listening to some more JN!

  • Anyone else reminded of Bart simpson when she sings?
